This is the only meat shop I would purchase my meats and hotpot essential. it is very small but don't let that fool you, they have all your needs from thinly sliced meat to bulk size. You just let the butcher know what you want. Their vegetables are always green and leafy, it never disappoints. The best thing, many varieties. There may be a language barrier but if they noticed you have been looking at an item for a while, they just hand you the best looking one. This weekend, I 2 packs of beef brisket and the marble on the beef was gorgeous, along with veggies, tofu and fish cakes. Everything was fresh! Let me just say, it was a delicious feast! It is hotpot season, best to come here for all your hotpot needs!

Honestly, one of the best mom n pops in Chinatown for the freshest sliced meats for hotpot! The shop is a little narrow but always bustling with locals buying fresh produce and poultry. Prices are unbeatable! I appreciate their variety when it comes to the hotpot goods such as meat balls, lobster balls, veggies, hotpot soup bases-- anything you can think of! Their supreme fatty beef sells like hotcakes on cold and rainy days. The customer service is curt but efficient, but dare we expect anything less when shopping in Chinatown? LOL slight language barrier but hey if you can point and be patient, they'll eventually figure it out. Food: 10/10 Prices: 10/10 Customer service: 8/10 Parking: Street parking

Great place for all your hotpot supplies (they slice hotpot beef, lamb etc on demand) and love how they have organic Chinese greens (gai lan and choy sum)

This is the only place I know in Chinatown that has sliced meats for hotpot. They also have a ton of hot pot soup bases as well. Prices are reasonable and affordable. Sliced fatty beef (or snow patterned beef) is 16.99/lb which is pretty darn good. I also got sliced lamb for 11.99/lb. They also have sliced chicken and beef tongue, etc. Winter is coming so get ready to have your homemade hot pots ready!

This place is one of my favorite places to buy fresh Chinese veggies. They pack up the veggies and price them for you so shopping is efficient. They also price them accordingly so I always pay the extra dollar to get the “premium” stock ?For meats, they have freshly cut beef for hot pot (basically fondue with boiling water) and even more exotic cuts like beef tongue if you’re feeling adventurous (spoiler: it tastes like beef). Due to their hot pot selection, it can get a bit crazy crowded during Chinese Holidays, mainly Chinese New Years (in 2021 that’s February 12) so plan accordingly.

Their meats are very fresh. No complaints. I bought some beef drop flank to make Chinese beef stew. They had to cut open a bag that had two pieces of the drop flank to sell me one piece. Each piece of the drop flank weight about 5 pounds. I bought one slab. When I brought it home, I had to trim off all the fat. By the time I got done, I threw out about 2.5 pounds of fat. Their attitude is take it or leave it. If I told them I dIdn't want it, I'm sure they will never wait on me again, likely scold me and kick me out of the store. Not the friendliest neighborhood butcher around. I dread going into the store for fear of being scolded for asking for a meat they have to get from the refrigerated cold case. I'll know better next time to clearly inspect my purchase before laying my money down.

My mom recommended this place to me for buying pork ever since I complained not fresh meat from another market in San Leandro. Since coming here, I'll only buy pork from them! Fresh meat made my dish so yum!

This is one of my favorite stores in Oakland Chinatown. Mainly because of the pre-packaged Gai Lan (Chinese Broccoli) and their fresh meats. Also, they have sauces for cooking. It's a small store, so it tends to be a little limited. You don't need to speak Chinese to shop here, but it helps of course. I'm 3rd generation ABC, and I shop here! Today I got 3-lb slab of ribs, Fuji Apples, and Gai Lan. Street parking.

A very compact market with little wiggle room inside, but it punches well above its weight thanks to a comprehensive selection of fresh meats (yes, particularly pork), seafood, and produce. What I appreciated about the produce was that lots of it, like the gai lan ($2.49/lb.), was sealed, in reasonably sized batches, in plastic wrap. So if you're concerned that everything's been picked over, at least you can unwrap it and put it into another bag when you get home, or you can just run a disinfecting wipe over the wrap. There was also plenty of fresh ginger ($2.29/lb.); even though they weren't wrapped, you can easily peel it at home. A quick in-and-out shopping run for key everyday ingredients - mission accomplished!

Grocery and meat markets in Chinatown are plentiful, however, to have one with competitive prices and awesome service? New Hop Lung Market. The owner(?) was very informative and patiently answered all my questions regarding what to purchase for the family hot pot. Definitely my new go-to spot in Chinatown. Forget Safeway!
