Great customer experience! My cat had an urgent issue, and the kind woman at the front desk really helped me out by squeezing him into the schedule so he could be seen right away.

I would give more than 5 stars if I could! The care we have received from the staff and Dr. Moulton for our dog has been incredible! I can't recommend Montclair Vet Hospital enough!!

I needed a travel certificate of good health for my cat. Montclair Vet gave me an appointment in short notice and the receptionist was very flexible so kuddos there. That said, I was quoted $150 on the phone for the certificate. When I arrived the took me and my cat in, the vet tried to add a rabies vaccine saying she could not do the certificate without it even though I had proof of a rabies vaccine with due the next dose not due for at least another year. Of course the rabies vaccine they wanted to add was like $90. All in all they wanted to charge me upwards of $370. I told them I could not afford that and that my cat did not need the vaccine after some arguing they finally accepted and gave me the certificate for around $280. That's 1.86x the price they quoted me on the phone. To add salt to injury they messed up some info on the certificate and when I mentioned I needed it corrected they refused. Goes without saying I won't be returning to Montclair Vet.

I have just returned to Montclair Vet, after about 3 years with our new dog. Our old dog was a patient there but passed away over 2 years ago. I have been very pleased so far. We have been to two appointments in the last few weeks and I have found the staff so responsive, attentive and patient. Stephanie was the tech we met first and she could not have been more warm, friendly, professional and so sweet to our dog! Dr. Kline was also very kind and patient. I am so happy to be back! Thank you!

Dr. Moulton & Dr. Kline took great care of our 3 month old Rottie who needed his lower baby canines extracted. Friendly staff, clean facilities & capable pros!*update 10/20/22*I just got back from a vaccination vet visit and thought - Let me add a little more context to my review.I am a first time dog owner and puppy mom. Our boy is a Rottie. This breed is highly susceptible to parvo with a low survival rate if contracted. My husband and I have been very diligent about his wellbeing in this early stage of his life. I am new to California and our area. We got a recommendation to visit Alameda Veterinary by a good friend who has been using them for years for their dogs. We felt that we were incorrectly sized up there and that our concern for some specific issues for our breed puppy was not thoughtfully considered.After reading ALL these reviews for Montclair with the most recent being an unfortunate series of events, I went with them because of their older reviews about the competency of the staff and they were the easiest to book for a procedure we needed to have done. Although the entity that took over does not seem to have an attractive track record for the way they run business, our experience with the STAFF - the people who are actually touching and diagnosing our lil guy - IS AMAZING!!!!Dr. Rachel Moulton is kind, considerate and straightforward (keeping it straight, no need for chaser is a huge plus for the New Yorker in me). We are aware that we are behaving as helicopter parents for this lil guy and can laugh at ourselves about it and it means a lot that she knows how to handle us with reassuring, respectful communication, even if we SEEM as though we might be second guessing her recommendations, it's not about her, it's our nervousness, we respect her and she seems to not take it personal. Hopefully she'll see this review and confirm that we have the utmost respect for her expertise and we will relax a little more with every passing week LOL.Dr. Rajmaira - awesome, patient and so sweet. Dr. Kline, who helped us with a dental issue was much of the same and Ayada (if I have it right) at the front desk is always welcoming, willing to go the extra mile to help us get questions answered.We couldn't be more happy in their care. I have had pets in the pasts and trials and errors with veterinarian offices. This is one of the 2 best experiences I've had in 20 years and we hope to bring our growing furson here for the duration of our stay in the Bay! :-)

When Montclair Veterinary Hospital was abruptly closed (now thankfully under new management--and not their fault), I was shocked and devastated. Our cat Heidi's vet, Dr. Rachel Moulton, is simply the best vet I have ever worked with. Working with her is so much more than just checking Heidi's vital signs and keeping up with her vaccinations. She recognizes the importance of our cat in our lives and is able to hold both the owners' and the cat's best interests. It's hard to fully describe. Suffice to say, this is a very special place and a very special vet. All the negative reviews I am seeing have nothing to do with the people who make up Montclair Vet.

STEER VERY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE ! my moms dog was misdiagnosed and ended up dying due to their negligence. then never billed her for his visit then sent her to collections, WHAT THE F WORD?

Honestly I really tried to like this place because it's in a convenient location, but I just can't. I am totally disgusted with the way they treat returning patients! I am so done with them and their excuses and unresponsiveness,,,,EVERY SINGLE time I've tried to take my cat in they were either too busy, or didn't have enough doctors on staff, or some other excuse. Many times they didn't even answer the phone and when you left a message it took a day or two to get back to you if they did. That doesn't work if you have a sick animal....If you want a vet that is responsive and available, then this is NOT the one. Every single time I end up having to take my cat to the vet Veterinary Emergency Group in San Ramon, and they are absolutely wonderful but it is an emergency clinic. Every time I've gone there my cat gets seen By the same vet!

solid doctors but the receptionist can't be bothered to pick up the phone, super frustrating. i was there and witnessed her repeatedly ignore incoming calls, how is one supposed to confirm / change / cancel / set up appointments? such a shame, total miss on staffing

Aug 2022: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!! As somebody who went to Montclair for over a year, I was heartbroken to find out that they were shutting down after I had really only just begun care with them. But what made my blood run cold was finding out that were re opening under VetNCare: after having worked for this company, personally, I can honestly say that you should NOT put your trust or your wallets in their hands. The owner only cares about money, their medical care is subpar at best and many of their practices are disturbing at worst. I quit for a reason and have spent years doing my best to convince friends and loved ones (as well as technicians looking to get into the field) firmly to steer clear of VetNCare like the plague. If you value your pets care: do not put it in the hands of this company or any hospital under it!

We have been taking our two dogs to Montclair Vet for the last 3 years. They briefly closed in April, but have reopened and are better than ever. Dr. Moulton has given our two dogs the best care possible, and while they still don't love going to the vet, we enjoy our visits every time. Dr. Moulton gives great personalized care and always remembers us. Highly recommend!

It is very sad to see so many similar reviews for a place that really was great. Have been going here for years and was very happy. Then about two years ago things started getting worse - price increases, - appointments being cancelled, -taking WEEKS to be able to get an appointment for urgent issues But the big red flag was that slowly a number of their vets (some truly amazing and life saving) started to leave. That is always a bad sign when good people leave a workplace. So the hunt was on to find a new vet and as many will state out of the blue they closed down and like many others I had an appointment for an ear infection. Luckily was able to get into Walnut Creek Vet Hospital. They saw all of my animals right away and fixed the issue. In addition they provided a solution that has helped prevent ear infections from coming back where at Montclair I had been going for years with the same issue. Hard pass and what a shame!
