Montclair Plaza is an ordinary strip mall. I find it quite unusual and exploitative that they have parking meters in their parking lot. Go elsewhere if you are running a short errand like dropping something off at the UPS store or ordering takeout. Their parking meters default to requiring that you pay at least an hour; another exploit.

The Montclair Plaza Collective is a new pop-up market, a place for local artisans to build their brands and sell their art directly during the holiday season. It's built around "Slow Food" and "Slow Money" principles. The day I visited I found cool gifts (like bags and purses made from vintage automobile upholstery, and jewelry made from repurposed materials), appealing food items (like locally made granola and a collection of gourmet salts), watercolor paintings of Oakland landmarks, cute kids tee shirts and a newly published photo book about Montclair Village. I was told that almost all items are created within 50 miles -- and most within 10 miles. This is a great find for the holiday season!
