I was a member for convenience sake. Unfortunately, I left due to loud buzzer that nobody pays attention to going off every minute or two, as well as, loud music constantly playing. Lastly, the owner and staff were not very friendly toward me and my guests, however, they were toward other members in a loud voice to which, all can hear about vacation, life, etc. Not everyone is interested!

When I do join a gym, I always consider Montclair Fitness my go to place. I have been a member many times over the past couple of decades, and I'm planning to get back there soon. It's a homey atmosphere with just what I need to do a good work out.

Montclair Fitness is a small, friendly gym where you can do your ownthing without any pressure. Personal training with the owner isavailable, but again, there's no pressure. I'm grateful to have thisresource. I always feel welcome whenever I go.

This is a clean, well organized gym with really knowledgeable owners who are always happy to give training or advice. You won't hear weights being thrown to the floor here. The patrons are all friendly and polite.

Dave, the owner, puts his client's health and well-being first. He is always on the look out to make sure we are exercising properly. He always welcomes and offers words of encouragement. Literally, this gym is a "life saver"

I'm one of the older clients that many reviewers mention. I appreciate the small size, easy parking, and always, always friendly staff. Dave and Kelly genuinely like people. The hours are really great for me, very early mornings and well into the evening. They accommodate a wide range of schedules. The facility is clean, showers maintained, and the machines kept up. The staff helps if I have questions about how to use a machine, and if I'm not doing it right, I get a little unasked-for but welcome, guidance. You can look out at trees and the sky from many of the machines. I way prefer that to mirrors. I enjoy the music; it doesn't prevent me from hearing the podcasts I listen to. I find the timer for the circuit helpful when I'm using those machines. Finally, while many of the members are older, there is definitely a range of ages taking advantage of this little Montclair gem.

Very complete yet small local gym. Clean pleasant surroundings and plenty of equipment in good condition. Owner is an excellent trainer and happy to assist. This would get five stars except that the owner conducts conversations with clients in an extremely loud voice, about his ski trips, thoughts about the news, politics etc.

I have been a member of Montclair Fitness now for about 7 years, and Finally want to post a review! This is a friendly, low key work-out place with all the machines you need, and open space to do individual stretching and isometric exercises. David Bordessa is fitness trainer (and former Cal football player) who really knows his stuff, and is particularly helpful if you have had injuries and/or surgeries. Very convenient, right off Mountain Boulevard near Park Blvd. It has a great community of regulars - mostly mature adults who live in the area. I'm so glad it's here.

Montclair Baking has changed from Cheryls hands to someone I don't know but the baking is remains my favorite in the East Bay. Nothing has suffered. Cakes, eclairs, fruit tarts(try the passion fruit) croissant....everything is still the best. Kudos to the new owner who knew a good value and has kept everything but the decor the same. The new layout and paint is lovely too.

Too expensive for what they offer. Seriously, they charge more than what you can pay for at a gym with a wide selection of free weights, a pool, a basketball court and 3x the number of machines, not to mention a sauna and jacuzzi. (That alternative gym is in downtown oakland, just 10 min away)

Small but very friendly neighborhood gym. Owners are great and atmosphere is very low pressure. Good equipment. Have been a member for more than 10 years.
