I messed up so badly coming here today (05Nov24). I was starting to have knots and just wanted my ends trimmed.
I've been lazy about scheduling an appointment, but since I had time today, I called around for same day availability. I don't go to salons a lot, but I figured any salon can trim ends. I was wrong, and my review is to warn others like me.
I cut my locs last year because of post-partum thinning and went to a similar place for a trim, so I didn't think anything of the barbershop vibe or the fact that it was older men providing the service.
I asked to have my ends trimmed because of knots, and he asked if I wanted the clipper or scissors. I repeated that I just wanted my ends trimmed because of knots (both clippers and scissors have been used at the other two salons I went to within the last fifteen months). I hadn't combed my hair prior to coming in because I was expecting a wash and blow out for a proper trim like i'd had in the other two salons. He started roughly picking my dry hair out with a comb (commenting on being glad I wasn't tender headed, even though I was cringing in discomfort), he said I just have to comb it to get rid of the knots, and said all the hair coming off on the comb was the knots coming out. I asked if he was just going to cut it like that, and he assured me he's been doing afros since the seventies and knew what he was doing, and I could relax. He started cutting with shears, and the shears snagged my hair a few times.
Almost halfway, he takes a call and starts talking about the election on the phone. I checked my length when he went to get his phone and started panicking at how short some parts were. When he got back, I noticed more snagging and also noticed that he would cut the hair that was poking out after the snag and then cut the surrounding hair to even it out. I told him it was getting shorter than I wanted, and I just wanted my ends trimmed. He said my hair was still really long, and he was just evening it out, demonstrating how long it was by pulling out the top/longest part (it's shorter in the back because of a style I did in February). He kept cutting and trying to assure me even though I was disagreeing. There are so many points where I should've just put a stop to it and left looking crazy, at least I would've had more hair for someone else to do a better job with, but I thought he knew best. I had to raise my voice to tell him for a third time that I didn't want my front cleaned up with clippers because he was still going to do it. When he was done, I went to pick out the hair with the comb to see if it was even, and he said if I did that, it'd get "rough again". He took off almost half of my length and even cut the baby hairs on my left side (which I didn't notice till I got home and washed it).
Although I was upset at how short my hair was, and him ignoring how obviously upset and unhappy I was with the service, I paid him and went home to a worse surprise. After washing my hair, I couldn't even comb it. Everything that is not teeny weeny afro was knotted, and I couldn't get the comb through it. I'm pretty sure his shears were snagging because they were blunt, so my entire head of hair now has split ends. I was almost in tears, but I know it's just hair. Now, I basically need to do a big chop to even out my hair length. Instead of trimming my ends and getting cornrows before the holidays, I now have to grow my hair back out. My husband even asked if he cut my hair with no apron because I had SO much hair on me since he did a poor job taking the apron off. He also used his mouth to blow hair off my head and face the whole time! Who does that? Especially after we just went through a pandemic! I was in such disbelief and did a poor job standing up for myself today. I don't know who Liz is, but it's possible someone has hijacked her salon, or she's in poor company. At

Rod is a true artist indeed, whether you have a short pixie cut or natural blow out he will leave you slayed ! This hair was actually kinky curly, pressed and curled, when I was tired of wearing it straight I simply washed it and wore it curly love love love the versatility !!

This place is so unproductive the owner Roderick made a mess of my hair he used practices that out right burnt it out. He was not honest about what he was doing when I booked my appointments with him. He was cursing in the phone during our appointment making me feel extremely uncomfortable. He was smoking and being unprofessional at my service. These unsafe practices have caused damage and disappointment

How you a schedule somebody for 1:30pm. And your last words were make sure you’re on time…….So why my niece pull up early and he is rinsing conditioner out of another clients head. Tells her it’s a press and go. We go to purchase the dye and lunch. Come back and you laying tracks in this woman’s head. You never apologize to my niece you never acknowledge the fact that you had her sitting there for three hours watching you do somebody elses’ hair until it was time to go that’s when you really want to have an in-depth conversation and had the mitigated goal to be offended when she said yes I’m leaving. You told your mother three times to start bleaching on her. Then your mother came over and kept wrapping a towel and the drape around her neck and she would walk off again. Never starting any process. Come on bro get your business together That was rude and inconsiderate of somebody else’s time considering what she was having done she should’ve been your only client that day……IJS……??♂️??♂️??♂️??♂️??♂️

They did highlights on my mother's sister locks and colored her roots. She also got a deep condition. Her hair was so soft and the color came out beautiful. She was very pleased with their services and was referred by a long time friend who went with her daughter and loved their hair which they got pressed/flat ironed. Lastly the price was reasonable.

I met the owner one night when I had a flat tire. After fixing my tire, he offered me a business card to his salon, feeling obligated I accepted. I explained to him that my hair was fine and most hair products weigh my hair down and that my hair had not being growing with my current stylist. He assured me that I would be satisfied. I set an appointment and was very satisfied, he trimmed my hair and styled it just as I explained and it has been growing ever since! My biggest pet peeve is being in the salon ALL DAY, I was in and out in less than two hours. Thanks Rod!

I went to this hair salon today and it was a real treat. I had the pleasure in meeting Elizabeth and she is darling. I was first prepped by Liz and then her son Roderick finished straightening and cutting my hair. I had a blast. I really loved my hair when I left the salon it was determined "I'm back" I look fabulous. Thanks guys I will see you in a couple of weeks.

I happened to drive by and see the number in the window . I got in that day and had a very pleasant experience. The owner and her son worked together and my hair came out just the way I wanted it to.

They burned my hair off & they spent most of the time either arguing with people on the phone, 'dealing' with a situation where someone they knew was washing their car outside, tried to hide the fact that my hair was falling off in clumps. After 4 hours 45mins, (they estimated it be done in 2 hours 30mins) the owner of the shop couldn't even be bothered to say any of the following: 'thank you', 'sorry for burning your hair off' or 'bye'. No advice on how to deal with what they did. Unprofessional, dirty (hair and grime in the corners) I went here on the suggestion of a friend and even she had an issue with them not doing what she asked them to do, she had to go to another salon afterwards to have them touch up her hair. It is appropriate that they list 'hair removal' as one of their services. Of all the things they did wrong, that is the one thing they did right, they 'removed' clumps of my hair under the guise of 'perming' it. They will burn your hair off while on the phone the whole time, take your money then walk away from you as if they can't even be bothered to at the very least say' goodbye' or 'thank you for paying us to take almost 5 hours to ruin your hair'... There is no website, parking is bad, they only take cash or checks, broken chairs, dirty... everything - counters, corners, floors. There were random locks of hair sticking out from one of the half closed sticky-oily looking, grimy drawers. Throw and egg on the floor of this 'salon' that resembled a grill more than a floor, turn up the heat and you can have yourself a little omelet while you are getting your scalp & hair burned off your head. Just don't do it, go ANYWHERE else, hell if you have a pet, have them do your hair, it will be more professional and a better experience than this place...
