Kaiser Permenate terminated my account. I opted for online billing, and put on automatic payments. I thought the account was being paid off. I often check online to see if anythings were due, but the premiums were no longer showing. This probably happened when you swtich to automatic payments? This is a technical issue on their end. My card was not being accepted, so that was the reason. I did not know that my premiums were not being paid. They sent out the letters to notify me, but I only saw one letter a few months later. By the time I sent in my check, they said my account was already terminated, and they wouldn't reinstate my account.

Excellent Doctors for a reasonable price. Like all of the other health care companies, you need to be your own advocate. I would recommend them to others.

I've been a Kaiser member since 1998. I have a strong interest in Kaiser's quality of care and future success. Kaiser does offer the best value and NorCal Kaiser has fairly decent quality of service. We recently moved from Nor Cal to So Cal. The So Cal division of Kaiser is notably less concerned with patient preventative care. The difference in patient care is striking - like two different companies. The So Cal facilities are all severely run down, disorganized with poor communications and lots of redundant information requests. The closet quality of service comparison would be the DMV.As an example, I scheduled a COVID booster shot appointment today. Kaiser forces Medicare Advantage members into a limited number of widespread facilities for COVID shots and only offers Pfizer. The commute to the nearest Kaiser facility giving shots was 40 minutes each way. The actual shot clinic was severely understaffed and was 1 1/2 hours behind schedule. The directions online were incorrect. Overall a simple booster shot took over 3 hours with the commute. The site was severely run down with 1 of 2 elevators out of operation, 3rd floor reception shut down and unsanitary restrooms. My wife and I have experienced a number of serious problems with Kaiser care and slog through perpetual miscommunications between Kaiser departments. Here are some of the major issues we've navigated:1) My wife had back pain for 10 years after an auto accident that was essentially ignored by So Cal Kaiser2) Kaiser did not follow CDC recommendations to prescribe Paxlovid for COVID even after I consulted two separate Kaiser physicians.3) My primary physician did not respond to a broken foot for one week. In fairness, I reported this as a sprain. He also failed to check for osteoporosis which was later diagnosed.3) My new primary physician met with me for about 15 minutes. She was nice but I later realized that I'd actually had no physical examinations except for the nurse administered blood pressure, weight and height.4) The CDC recommends a colonoscopy every 10 years. I just requested one and my primary physician responded that I don't need one because my last colonoscopy in 2008 was normal and my annual FIT/gFOBT tests have been negative. So Cal Kaiser seems to be in a steep decline. As noted, the So Cal facilities are seriously rundown. Communications between departments is nearly dysfunctional. I hope that someone in Kaiser corporate leadership will read this and take actions to turnaround So Cal Kaiser.

I have been in Kaiser almost my whole life and my parents were original members with the union over 80 years ago. I have never had any complaints about my medical care, ever, through cancer, childbirth, Covid and I have always defended Kaiser when people made off the wall remarks about managed care. Now, at 68, I need Medicare and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that they could care less about me and have put my husband and myself through living hell to get on their offered Medicare/Advantage Plan 2 where premiums are reimbursed. It is mid September and we were eligible July 1st.We called them, over and over, spoke to almost everyone in Member Services, filed two grievances and here I am today getting the incorrect information on their 800 line just an hour ago. They evidently do not train their customer service reps properly or the reps plain just don't care. I wrote a letter to their corporate office and all I asked was to simply be enrolled in this plan that I qualify for, have provided all the necessary forms for, and they enrolled my husband but still have not corrected their problem with me. If you do enroll, call every single day to make sure they got the paper work. Make sure it is the correct paper work and call back twice to speak to someone else because you can be sure the first person you talked to had no idea what they were saying except to hurry and get you off the phone. Shame on you Kaiser. My parents would be so disappointed that you treated your faithful member the way you have.

There are a few good doctors here, but overall I find the Kaiser model of care delivery severely lacking, and as a result, the captive loop you are caught in as a member can turn into a nightmare. In my experience, most members that are really pleased with Kaiser fall into 1 of 2 categories. 1) they're so healthy they've never actually used Kaiser except for the most basic annual physicals, or 2) they've been with Kaiser for so long they've forgotten what quality care actually looks like. There are a couple of exceptions to this. 1) Early cancer diagnosis. Kaiser's interconnectivity is 2nd to none, so the diagnosis process will be streamlined and nothing will be dropped. (cancer recovery/follow up monitoring is not as strong and many cancer patients switch to another provider network at their earliest opportunity). 2) Plastic surgery. There are some talented plastic surgeons in the network who do quality work. One nice thing about Kaiser is that if your doctor thinks something is necessary, Kaiser as an insurance carrier will approve it, so there's no haggling about costs or coverage. The flip side of this, is Kaiser as a care network does a lot of negligent gatekeeping of care. If you need something that is just not "Kaiser's way" of doing it, good luck getting approval, you'll die waiting. My family has had to spend tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket on non-Kaiser providers yearly for multiple conditions, because Kaiser doesn't offer much - they simply stonewall you.If you have a child with a physical disability, run the other way. If you are an adult with a physical disability, do not even entertain the thought of Kaiser coverage. I really do not understand how they have *not* been sued for this. I have never in my life seen such severe medical neglect of people with established physical disabilities from a provider network. Kaiser mental health care could be considered just as terrible, except that it basically doesn't exist. Suicidal teens are routinely told to wait months for therapy. This is in direct violation of both federal and state law.Overall, a big no from me. If you have the access or the means to afford any other coverage, do yourself and your loved ones a favor and go elsewhere.

You can no longer personally deliver forms to the doctor, it has to go through a special unit ROI.My sister passed away on January 15, 2023. On Feb. 6 I went to Kaiser Montebello to hand deliver a life insurance form and a death certificate to Dr. Judy Lee. As of yet I have been GETTING THE RUN AROUND. I'm told that this unit or that unit handles it. I need the medical form completed in order for my sisters insurance company to handle the claim.Whomever created this NEW unit is should be fired. The most frustrating experience ever with Kaiser, and I have been a Kaiser member since the age of 9, I am now 75 and have always defended Kaiser.I would like to file a complaint with Kaiser Corp Office, but that another maze you have go through.

Kaiser is unfortunately sliding back to how it was back in the 70s and 80s when it was regarded as a low cost and generally crappy HMO. Just today I had a virtual medical appointment with a disinterested young MD who rushed through the appointment, sounding disinterested and unengaged. Later when I went to the local KMC to get my labs drawn I learned that the lab had already closed. I asked the folks at the Information Desk whether there was a nearby Kaiser that had later hours and none of them knew the answer. I did a Google search but couldn't find out the answer either but learned that the nearby San Leandro Kaiser was open 24 hours. I attempted to call them to confirm their Lab hours but after holding for 20 minutes hung up and decided just to go and see for myself. When I showed up I asked the young man greeting patients at the door where the Lab was and was directed down the hall-- neglecting to tell me that this lab was closed as well....which I found out when I arrived and saw for myself. I realize none of these issues are earth shattering but today's events represent a constant Customer Service experience I receive with Kaiser these days which is why I'm switching to a more expensive; but hopefully better provider at the end of the month.

Been with Kaiser since I was 12 years old....it wasn't until right before covid...have I ever been so disappointed...and I can assume some of their doctors were too...taken that many decided to retire early...Kaiser used to be about quality care..now it's about quantity...if it ain't broke don't fix it...so many changes that Drs are willing to push you on to others than take the time to really help and listen...so disappointed in kaiser

This review is based on my experiences dealing with Kaiser Member Services / Grievance Operations. They send out their generic form letters "we have received your complaint...here is the name / contact info of the case manager". They have to do that because of California regulations. However, they never respond to calls / faxes / letters via certified US mail (where delivery is confirmed). Also, often, the case managers' voicemail boxes are full and not accepting messages. So, in practice, their system is useless because you can never get a response. It's horribly frustrating and I think done deliberately so people get frustrated and just give up. Even after contacting Department Managers, the problems persist with multiple different Grievance Operations representatives and managers. I've reported them to the Department of Managed Health Care and will continue to provide the State all of my documentation showing their non-responsiveness. My third written attempt was sent (delivery confirmed!) to Trenita Ward, VP of Member Services and Grievance Operations. DMHC is also getting all that documentation as well. Kaiser is the largest HMO in the country and they way they don't respond to complaints is atrocious. They are too big to care. If you are also experiencing these issues, please document complaints and send documentation of your attempts to contact Kaiser Grievance Operations to the California Department of Managed Health Care. dmhc.ca.gov

I had the best experience ever with KP today. I called the appointment and advice line intending to get a message to my doctor. The person on the other end of the phone was amazing. The empathy she showed - not just a business call or a call center - made me feel like I was calling our family doctor's office and being well taken care of. Almost like she knew me and looks forward to my next check-up. As if she literally worked for MY doctor and wanted to be certain I was taken care of. Calming, soothing words and voice. She hit me with the, "hold on, let me work this out for you. I think I can handle this for you NOW." ** insert water works for someone taking care of ME when I am sick ** Say what you want about the size of KP -- the lady I talked to today made me feel at home.

For any non member parents of minor children who has an uncoorerative co parent as the primary member the child is listed under , be prepared to have no access to the child's medical care and records . Kaiser has placed all the features such as contact with pediatrician , reviewing test results and monitoring the ongoing health records of your child all under the full power and control of the primary member account and without them adding you or sharing the confirmation letter to add you as parent you are not at all going to be able to participate in your child's care. I have attempted to resolve this several times over the last twelve years and unfortunately the process ends at the confirmation letter being sent to the primary account holder aka the child's father .

Everything is good actually. Most of the staff are decent except for the following issues.1. The system is complicated. I call and talk to a nurse and then a nurse will tell you to call another number to make an appointment. Also, I saw an OBgyn doctor every time will be a different doctor, not the same one. 2. My primary doctor ********* in Clairemont mesa medical office. she treated me like trash when I ask more questions. No patience, rude, not respectful, Strong words, get mad easily. 4. ********** is messy and incompetent. She cannot remember what she told me last time. She told me I have anemia rash and this time she told me that is not anemia rash. Every time say things different.5. When I have a rash she is supposed to refer a specialist to me asap. She made me suffered two weeks, very itchy every day. She delays the referral in a proper timeframe. 6. ************ nurse called me about my globin stool test positive. I asked her three times, if the occult blood in the stool may be because of a hemorrhoid. she said no three times. And then I ask ********** she said hemorrhoids can be one of the reasons. It seems the nurse is not capable and make me confused.
