This review is specifically for Chris Abernathy of the Honda of Oakland Service Department. He is fantastic. Absolutely top notch and I hope management sees this because he should be recognized not only for his excellent customer service but for his dedication to his job. I brought my 2020 odyssey in on Tuesday because of a recall notice and because my sliding doors have been malfunctioning. The tech couldn't find any issues but they cleaned and greased up the tracks. Full disclosure that I bought the full warranty and then extended it with Honda which covers the sliding doors. Chris knows I am a full time mama Uber and need to pick up my older child at 3pm and got the van back within a comfortable time frame so I wasn't struggling to rush to get my kid picked up. He also told the staff today when I dropped my van off that I need it back by 230pm. He is my favorite advisor there and I waited until today to bring it back because he is off on Wednesdays. Thanks Chris! Bring your Honda in and ask for Chris Abernathy!

Update: Per the managers request in response to my original review I called in to talk over the issues I laid out in my review. Was never able to reach Bryson. I left multiple messages on his line over multiple days with my callback information to no avail. Kind of silly you'd write a response to my post then never respond... not sure what the thought process is there

This rating is specifically for the person I worked with, Hong Nong. Hong was transparent and kind and helped me advocate for what I needed. I really appreciated his help and kindness. He went above and beyond.

I've been a customer at Honda of Oakland since 2006, have purchased two Hondas. Generally satisfied by this dealership and service center. Fast forward to 2024, it's been a few years since I took my car here for service. Since my last visit, seems like Honda of Oakland has been purchased by Cardinale Way (before it was PSC Auto). I understand inflation is a factor but prices have skyrocketed and you get less for your money these days. There used to be better customer experience where your car gets washed with every service, popcorn and fresh baked cookies in the waiting room, Lyft and Uber cost expensed. These days you get none of those, and they even want you to cover the 3% credit card fee. My service advisor could be better too; can't joke about how my car at 100K miles is "just starting to break in" and then recommend me a laundry list services that I don't need at this time. Do better.

Shady practices at Honda of Oakland! Tl;dr: Don't believe it's easy to cancel an extended warranty I called to cancel my extended warranty and was transferred to Finance, to be put on hold for more than 10 min and have the call dropped. I called back later and just asked to be transferred to Finance. This time they picked up quickly, but when I asked to cancel my extended warranty I was told that I had to do so in person. I told them it was a long drive and I couldn't come out in person, and asked if I could sign digitally or send in a form with my signature, and I was told no, that I have to be at the dealership for them to process my cancellation. I knew this was BS because any documents can be digitally signed these days, but I was told there was nothing I could do. Months later I was finally able to drive over 100 miles out to Oakland to cancel it. I called ahead and asked what time Finance closed and was told 7pm. I got there at 5:30pm and asked to meet with Finance to cancel my extended warranty, and was told that they couldn't do it because the Director of Finance was on vacation. I told them that I had driven over 100 miles to cancel my warranty and had called to confirm that Finance would be available. The attendant got the general manager, and he came and told me the same thing. He said he would be happy to process it over the phone later on, but he couldn't do it today. I told him they said they couldn't process it over the phone and that is why I had made the long trip, and I called to confirm that Finance would be available and showed up with plenty of time. After I made it clear that I would not leave without canceling my warranty he went and got a form, and all he needed was to check my odometer and get my signature. It took less than five minutes and I never had to meet with Finance. I had made two more payments on the warranty and wasted about four hours of my time, and spent money on gas to deal with something they could have helped me with when I called the first time.

I had some difficulties find a sensor for a 2020 Honda Civic but Sal Castellano was extremely helpful, patient, and professional. He really put in a lot of effort assisting me in my most complex situation and was able to resolve it. Thank you so much Sal for your professionalism and extreme help. You are making Honda Oakland thrive!

I was in the market to buy my wonderful wife a car. Honda of Oakland had exactly what she wanted. I made an inquiry and Janette followed up within a good time frame. We went in the car was ready to inspect and view, we test drove it and my wife was pleased. We were dreading the normal song and dance of the part of negotiations. Janette and her manager didn't play, they got right to the point and gave us a good offer. It literally took us less than two hours from the time that we walked in to the time that we drove away. Great job I wish all my car buying experience was as good as you provided. My hats off to you. Happy Holidays.

An Adendum to the incident 3 days ago. I called honda service 6 times to talk to the rep. No answer. If he had returned my calls, i would have found out about the unwanted very , very expensive tune up, rather than the oil changes. So instead of paying about $100 for the tune up i got stuck with a $1600 fee. The manager was brought in an un apologetic and the rep said nothing and walked away. So long Oakland Honda. Never again

They do not take checks and charge 3% for debit and credit cards. Why? Honda is a billion $ company.

I bought a used Honda yesterday after searching the inventory of multiple east bay dealers online. It was a really great experience with Brian and Yera, from the 1st text in response to my inquiry, straight through all the business, to when I pulled away in a CRV that checks all my boxes and makes me very happy! There was no hard-sell, I felt respected and heard. I will very likely buy from them again, and I would recommend them to an Thank you!!

I sold my Honda Accord back to Oakland Honda after enjoying it for 8 years. Since I had very low mileage on it, Honda sales representative, Sheik Mobeen, offered me a very good and fair deal. He was communicative, professional, personable, and efficient. He helped make what could have been a very stressful transaction, smooth and easy. I have always had good experiences with Honda Oakland whether it be with their sales, parts, or repair departments. And today was no exception!

Dear Honda of Oakland Service Department, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the extraordinary help I received from Sam Chao, the Parts Manager at Honda of Oakland. Sam's swift and resourceful actions during a challenging situation have left an indelible mark on my experience with Honda of Oakland. The incident involved my vehicle having its wheels stolen, and I found myself in a desperate situation where no tow truck could be located to install spare tires onto my car and transport it without causing potential damage. Even though my initial AAA representative couldn't find a solution, Sam from Honda of Oakland stepped in and truly saved the day. Sam demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills by contacting a tow truck company affiliated with Honda of Oakland. He further arranged for the retrieval of four spare tires from your Honda of Oakland service department, orchestrated the installation of these tires on my vehicle, which was stranded without wheels, and ensured that my car was safely transported to your Honda of Oakland shop for the necessary service. Sam's remarkable dedication and willingness to go the extra mile in such a challenging situation are truly commendable. His actions turned what felt like a hopeless predicament into a successful resolution. Sam is undoubtedly a remarkable asset to your team at Honda of Oakland, and I'm immensely grateful for his professionalism and commitment to exceptional customer service. Please extend my heartfelt thanks to Sam and rest assured that his efforts have made me a loyal and appreciative customer of Honda of Oakland. His exceptional service truly sets Honda of Oakland apart.

Update - Bryson the manager reached out and I appreciate his desire to make things right. He does care about Oakland, the community, and customer experience. I ended up going elsewhere first, but I may consider them for a small service or two in the future. ------------ Frustrating experience with the service department. I'm sent the monthly service coupons. I went in and felt like they then were adding a bunch of different services and they say they will only take one coupon per visit (san leandro Honda is different). Even more frustrating, I'm told the coupons are "expired" even though I received the email 1 day before. Someone must have linked to the wrong ones, or there is an issue when they are saved to apple wallet. Either way, the service rep did nothing to try and help. I left and took the car to wheel works.
