Sheila and John at Holmgren & Associates were very responsive all hours of the day and really worked hard to help us through the process of buying our new home. Based solely on their performance, I'd give 5 stars, but we had some "expensive" issues with the appraiser hired by the lender they matched us with and so we must deduct a star for that. The appraiser (Mr. Appraisal) has a 1-star review on Yelp, and gave us a serious lowball appraisal that was $75k below our offer price. We offered a rebuttal, but the appraiser didn't budge a penny. Everyone involved in the process felt that the house was worth at least what we offered, but the lender provided no recourse for us to resolve the appraisal issue. The $75k difference meant that some of our planned home improvement projects will need to wait, and we ended up putting nearly 25% down but got an interest rate based on 20% down. Again, Sheila and John were fantastic, but results matter and $75k is not a small amount of money. Bottom line - we'd use Holmgren again, but we'd request the right for a different appraiser in the event we got one with very bad reviews. The silver lining is that the house is already valued at substantially more than it appraised for, so it was a good purchase despite the additional cash in.

I cannot say enough great things about Jim Valler. I have worked with many lenders in my career as a realtor and I just closed the smoothest transaction I have ever closed in my 10 plus years in this business. Jim helped my first time home buyer clients purchase a home with down payment assistance and usually those types of loans take a long time and/or have many nuances that are difficult to navigate. Jim was so organized, communicative, and managed to have loan approval way before the contingencies were due and even offered to close early during the holidays! I highly recommend him to homebuyers or home sellers looking for a professional and personable lender who provides results!

I had been wanting (and needing) to refinance for a long time and couldn't due to being unemployed. Finally, I reached out to Jim Valler as soon as I had a full time job again. The entire process went so quickly and smoothly thanks to the dilegence of Jim and Vealetta. I felt so good being in their hands as they were so great to carefully explain all steps along the way. My loan is now been finalized and I continue to be grateful to them and would gladly recommend them to anyone needing to purchase a home or refinance.

We worked with Sheila Perez at the recommendation of our buying agent, and have nothing but great things to say about the experience! Not only did Sheila offer us a super-competitive rate (we received quotes from a few local lenders), she was the MOST responsive agent we worked with (often turning around docs in a matter of minutes) and was incredibly on top of a highly complex process.
