I don’t know if all the reps who work here are as slimy as the one I worked with. I hope no one has to experience what I did. I explicitly told the rep that was assisting me in getting my rental that I did NOT need loss damage coverage. Since I paid online, I figured most of my payment was due upfront. I was flabbergasted when the rep told me I owed another $290. When I inquired about it, he told me it was due to tourism fees. Because my flight was delayed and I had a small amount of time to get to my work meeting, I didn’t think to review my receipt. I recently submitted to my company for reimbursement to which they replied they don’t reimburse for loss damage coverage because the company has their own. I was absolutely appalled that was even on my receipt because I distinctly remember having a conversation with the gentleman about not needing it. I was charged an extra $41.99 for 6 days because he took advantage of someone who was frantically trying to make it to her next destination. I called customer service to get this resolved. They’re response was that I signed the contract. Well, guess what. The contract is your receipt. It’s not like you sign additional paperwork for the coverage. Nothing like saying no, but then still getting charged. The customer rep on the phone had no ability to help me either, nor did she want to help make the situation right. She had a shame on me tone and that I should’ve recognized this before final payment. True, but what happened to a society that has some dignity and loyalty to not rip people off. My case is currently under review pending approval from this location. After looking at other people’s reviews, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised about my experience. I’m hoping the situation is made right.

Have always had good experiences renting from this place over three years. I am a gold/five-star member and they also accommodated special vehicle reservations in advance.

If I was not a previous customer of Hertz, the experience here could have been the last interaction between me and Hertz.The reception associate did not pay attention to the line and me waiting in line and decided to solve two other customers who just showed up at the counter and in response to me (which I just had a question since I already had my reservation and everything else sorted out), said, go back wait in the line!!!Also as a gold member I should have been able to pick the car I want in the gold area, but the associate said NO, you have a compact and if you want to leave with what you picked, then there would be an additional $20/day!!!!!Never had such a bad experience with Hertz in the past.However the return was smooth and the associate was very courteous and helpful.Not a big variety of cars to choose from.

Pathetic and shameful location, makes me question renting from Hertz ever again.I’m a gold member and booked through their website. Due to the technicality of me not booking through the app, I was forced to wait in line as a standard renter. What is the point of having gold status when that is the case?Worse yet, this car reeks of cigarette smoke and we are still trying to get this reconciled. We have tried to call them but of course the phone just rings endlessly.All told, this is probably the worst experience I’ve had with a rental agency. Don’t blame Oakland though - this is all on Hertz.

This is the second time I have rented a car from Hertz in Oakland. Both times the car I reserved was not available. My most recent experience I was told only EV's or SUV's were available at an additional cost which I was not interested in. The car was already pre-booked through my reward points, so I had no intention of paying any additional fees. I was then told I would have to wait 30 to 60 minutes to see if a car became available. The reason I'm giving this experience 4 stars is because Jibran, the agent at the Oakland airport location was very accommodating. After informing me there were no cars available other than EV's or SUVs at a higher cost, Jibran completed my paperwork and kindly offered me an SUV at no additional charge. Furthermore, he did not push any additional hidden or "mandatory" fees. The vehicle, a Kia Sportage was very clean and in excellent condition. Overall, I give Hertz 2 stars for company values , and Jibran 5 stars for customer service.

Holy smokes, we got there after a long flight etc there was approx 20 people in line. Our name was on the board as gold member to get our car there was not one car to get anywhere they were out!!!!!!! Even with a reservation. We waited about 15 minutes in line that didn't move then my wife went to the counter they were very nice and said to just go out and wait for a car and it won't be long. The people who bring the cars were sooooooo awesome they came over asked what they can do and took care of us can't say enough good things about them. I got a blanket message like everyone gets and I don't do FB so they'res nowhere to respond to saying to let them know more about your experience and they will try and?? So I'm just adding to my original post instead. Looks like the majority of us get burned!! We needed an SUV and after waiting forever we had to take a camero which was all that came in within 45 minutes of standing outside. Some might say oh a Camero yay! My wife and I could get either of our suitcases in the trunk! The opening is so small . We had to shove them in the backseat. Then we also couldn't drive our kids to dinner etc who we were visiting. Hertz actually made a good part of a whole week miserable! I'd like to say loudly you owe us one Hertz!! Along with a lot of other people!

ertz, you provided worst(life threatening) mini van. I rented 7 seater at Pleasanton CA on 12/22/2023(As per your website vehicle will be highlander or similar). But i got soranto which is not enough for luggages. So we decided to upgrade vehicle. Hertz Pleasanton CA asked us to go to Oakland CA airport and upgrade it. We upgraded Honda odyssey. But that mini van had so many problems. There was huge noise while running car and while applying brakes, vehicle was rattling. Back lights in cabin were not working and driving condition was bad. So i called support and they towed vehicle and asked me to get new vehicle in Los Angeles Airport.We got struck at airport for replacement vehicle for more than 6 hours without water and your staff says not vehicle available. Family also got struck in hotel. No proper customer service support also. After that we got 5 seater only and we only searched vehicle in hertz parking lot and found another 6 seater. Hertz Ruined our entire vacation. Very worst service. Lot of money waste due to plan change and mental pressure. Also Pleasanton CA location, they didnt hear properly on our issue and your manager also not in office. If you are travelling in the car with family and kids which car is with noise and brake failure one , think about that situation.

Good experience with hertz overall. Right from picking the car to dropping it off. We were 5 hrs late for dropping but their customer service helped quite nicely to extend the drop off time with a bit of an extra charge. Pretty smooth experience

So far so good. Easy pick up. Less then 10 minutes. Everyone was friendly and helpful. My compact suv is amazing. I have no complaints. My car was held for me overnight when my flight was changed. I just called customer service to tell them my problems and they were very helpful too.
