06Sep23:Dear Sir/Madam:I have been a customer of Gold Coin 3100 San Pablo Blvd, in Oakland for at e]least a year and I have enjoyed the experience. One of the feature of this place was the space by the sidewalk where you have a tree that provider needed shade which has been very convenient to dry the car.For several times I have been attracted to your facility for this reason and for the kindness shown by an older gentleman who works/own the place, who was helpful. So the last time early this week I encountered a person who drove in and said something as I was wiping down my car, so I was polite and approached his window for I realized he was not getting the windrow and he asked me the reason of the cones that were placed under the tree. I said for safety of the car. Of course that was not the right answer according to him and he had to announce that he is the owner and that is his space where I am. Politely again, I asked him if I could stay in one of the bay to dry the car and will mov e car if someone needs to use it. I am not sure why I even bothered except that I wanted to be respectful, to that he answered I do not care what you do with your car, just get out of the space. He did not do justice to being an owner, whose profit depends on people like me to use his car wash. It is regrettable that this man's attitude towards the hand that feeds him and how he ended up biting it, will have the consequence of losing my business for all times. Hope this does not happen to others with the same consequences. Rgds.M

Zero issues to report, but then I am a pro at the self serve car wash. No line on a Monday before the 4th of July. I broke out a $10 and coached my little man who will inherit the CamperVan one day:1.) Time goes quick little mate. So make sure you're set up for success, before you drop in your coin. Test that the brush will reach all the way around your vehicle. We had to back out about 2 feet and squeeze a bit closer to the wall, and be mindful that the hose will snag the roof rack. Set up the step ladder, get a bucket filled with water. Raise wipers.2.) $3 to start, use the brush. Top to bottom. Gravity is your friend. Little man, you follow behind with a mop glove getting the low sides. If the glove hits the ground, grab a clean one.3.) Keep scrubbing after your 3 minutes are up. Use the bucket water diluting the suds, work from cleanest to dirtiest. Hit wheels last. Return wipers.4.) Set to rinse, grab pressure gun. Set step ladder. Little man drops in four coins and is dazed by the force of the gun. We work fast, top to bottom again, using the pressure to scour off the brake dust.We wheel out of the way as a line has now formed. And get ready to dry. I put little man on the roof and now others have recruited him. Hilariously he earns six bucks, and teaches people how to say their favorite color in mandarin.

Good and quick wash. Very popular. Only downside there's no value bay and they accept Apple Pay or credit cash. Bring cash

Inexpensive, yet you can do full hand wash, making your car shiny like new, much better than machine car wash.

When I used to live nearby, I washed my car here all the time!!I'm all about "Do It Yourself" car washes, and this place was definitely good for that! Now, come on a Saturday and you probably will have a long wait, because that line will snake out onto the street sometime. But, whenever I'm in Oakland and need a quick car wash, this is still my go to place. Now it takes only tokens instead of quarters, it's $1 per token with a 3 token minimum to start, but usually that's enough time for me. And the machine only takes bills, so be prepared.

This review is long overdue. I have washed my car at this location several times in the past six months and usually have a good experience. Everything works, other customers are quick if there's a line, and I can get my car washed, dried, vacuumed, and looking fabulous in under 30 minutes for less than $20. One day a couple of months ago, the token machine ate a $1 bill. I was a little upset but I was in a rush so I just used the other machine, got my tokens, washed my car, and left. I didn't bother to call the phone number on the machine to get my dollar back. A month later, I came back with all my towels, ready to wash my car and get on with my day. I put a $20 bill into the token machine because it was all I had and I knew I'd be back, so having a few extra wouldn't be a big deal. However, the machine ate the bill. I just stood there for almost a full minute, staring at the machine, thinking my tokens would come out any second. Nothing happened. I was furious. It was all the cash that I had on me. I had a filthy car and no tokens. I called the number on the machine and left my name, number, and mailing address on the voicemail, along with a nasty message, thinking i would never see that money. I swore I'd never go back to that car wash and I promised to write a negative Yelp review to warn others. Later that day I got a voicemail from an owner, apologizing profusely and promising to put a check in the mail on Monday. I felt bad. Then on Tuesday I got an envelope in the mail with a nice handwritten note from the owner. But there was no check for $20. They mailed $25 cash. Wow. I felt really horrible. This is an honest business owner trying to run an honest business. Sometimes things don't work as they should, but they will go out of their way to make it right. Give this car wash a try. I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.

I finally got around to washing my VW EuroVan after Burning Man ... a month after getting home. I had put it off after struggling to find a car detailer that was _not_ mobile given the parking situation at my apartment building. I finally decided to do it myself, and I fully expected that I'd need to do a few rinse & wash cycles because my van is so large and because it was so dirty. It took me 4 cycles: (2) power washing, (1) soap brush where I took time beyond the cycle to actually work the soap, (1) more power wash to get it clean. The vacuum cycle was generous, I actually had much more time than I needed. And I found all of the hoses stretched far enough even for my large vehicle. My only complaints: the vending machine dispensing Armor All, drying cloths, etc. ran out of Armor All and wouldn't refund me my token; the drying cloth was pretty useless. I brought a few beach towels.

This self serve car wash is not very generous in terms of the amount of soap it dispenses through the brush. You will not find any spot free rinse or blower to air dry the car. It has the minimum but needs some improvements.

So it's $3 to get three tokens to start the machine. It states you have 3 minutes. That timer was going faster than the typically second. Rip off. Will never go back. The water pressure isn't that good.

most of the gold coin car washes are pretty decent the soapy Waters foamy coming out the brush their wax game could be a little better that's why I only rated them three stars cuz you should always rent your car with the wax cycle to restore a nice coat on the windows and paint
