I will always suggest shopping at Given Gold, because you will not be taken advantage of. This industry is solely based on demand and if you go to most jewelry places you will be paying out the nose for mediocre quality jewelry. Dan West is a skilled jeweler, and does not take advantage of others. He is kind hearted and had a beautiful selection of treasures from popular to vintage it a great price. Dan helped design our wedding rings while staying within our budget. He did such a great job and worked thoughtfully with us to come up with a beautiful sapphire and diamonds on a 14k gold band. We love them. They are beautiful and unique. Thank you, Dan for working with us to come up with such a wonderful design. We Love them and are proud to wear them and show them off. Great job! The staff was pleasant, but I got 2 earrings appraised here and they were quoted at $8 below the value quoted to me by another pawn shop here in Oakland—just make sure you get a few quotes before selling here ?

Do not go here for repairs! This place damaged my jewelry - permanently ruining one piece (pictured). Today, I picked up three pieces of jewelry I dropped off for cleaning, misc repairs, and an engraving. All three items were returned with visible dirt and damage. One of my gold coin necklaces, which needed a simple adhesive repair, is severely warped and permanently scratched up by a jeweler who was trying to do the repair too fast and did it very carelessly. A bracelet I dropped off for engraving was returned with a 90 degree bend in one of the gold links, plus the engraving was done the wrong way so now the clasp + links need to be swapped. I now need to get the bent link fortified as it's been weakened by the jeweler bending it (what the hell)! My other gold pendant was returned with a scrap of metal sticking up in the back so it pulled the fabric on my clothing and scratched my skin. Outrageous. No one checked my jewelry to see these mistakes before packing it up to return it. I have since had to consult two additional jewelers for quotes based on the damage done by this shop and will be seeking compensation from the jeweler as the pictured gold coin is permanently damaged and now needs extensive repair work or to be melted down. Save yourself the heartache. Do not bring your repairs here :(

We have visited Given Gold, Dan and staff, numerous times. We have had only amazing experiences working with Dan. He is honest, genuine, talented and his work is exquisite AND he’s a baseball fan! Dan has done repairs on my wedding rings, created/repurposed two necklaces, and bought/traded gold with us. He has always been fair and shares his experience and expertise. The latest ring he made for me is gorgeous!!!! He suggested lattice gold work and the finished product is stunning. I couldn’t be happier; I am pretty creative, but I never could have imagined or come up with the design he cultivated. I went to add to my previous review. I went in to the store last week to ask about my ring. It turns out that my ring has been sent to New York and Dan said that he hadn't been able to contact them. He told me he'd call me this morning, but I stil have not heard fro him. Where is my ring? When will it be finished and back in the store? When will Dan call me? I want my ring! 2 1/2 months is way too long to wait

Took OVER 2 MONTHS to repair my mom's silver and onyx ring, which needed a single stone cut and re-set. I was told it would take around 10 days. Every passing week, I called and was told "next week," - 4 or 5 times in a row. This ring belonged to a close family member who passed, and every day it was off of my mom's finger, she grew increasingly anxious that it had been lost.After so much time elapsed, I figured they would discount their service fee and offer profuse apologies - they did neither. Instead, they took NO RESPONSIBILITY for the delay whatsoever, choosing to crack a few tasteless jokes ("well, here it is - it's still silver...", whatever that means) rather than acknowledge this horrible service.I would DEFINITELY not recommend anyone use this jeweler - the repair was fine, but nothing complex. Frankly, the whole experience made me feel lied-to and disrespected.

I asked Dan to replicate my original engagement ring with yellow diamonds. Not only did Dan nail the replica, the quality and craftsmanship of my new ring is fantastic. My original ring had some quality issues and needed constant repair, but I wasn't willing to part with it. The sentimental value meant that the new ring HAD to look like the original. It took me 10 years to find a jeweler that was really willing to listen to my needs and give me what I wanted, no judgement.
