Very expensive. I wanted to give a mom and Pop shop a try at fixing my hard drive because the board was No longer good I need to transfer the hard drive into another casing. All in all they charged me $140. It was ridiculous, and when I asked Why it was so much the woman behind the counter said “in America, we have to pay taxes duh” I walked out, having overpaid and leaving with a snide comment that was uncalled for. I won’t be returning

FYI they don't work on HP computers. After bringing computer to get it diagnosed, they were unable to fully diagnose and when I let them know about it being able to be fixed for 130 via the manufacturer they resorted to "scare tactics". At least for HP computers, don't waste your time with this place.

My Asus ROG G703i laptop had a busted DC jack and will no longer power up nor hold a charge. I dropped by GCS and they confidently said that they could repair it. Well, guess what? GCS finally fixed my laptop and now the laptop is up and running! Thanks, GCS! Much obliged!

I have purchased a used laptop from them before and had a great experience. The customer and technical service was excellent.

I went in with a Mac book that had problems with the charger. He tried to convince me the problems or just with the cords, but when I showed him otherwise, he said oh they were going to have to open it up and it would be like $300. So he didn’t really encourage me to use his services. He was not very friendly either.

Knowledgeable, helpful and on time. Have two custom built desktops 5 ~ 7 years ago and they work very well. Also got some minor repairs and upgrades. Certainly recommend for computer needs.

Friendly. Spotted the problem quickly. I was embarrassed to learn that my cables were the problem but they were okay with it and didn't make me feel bad.

They said it would cost them 2-3 hours to replace a charging port for a laptop, at $90 per hour. $180 -270 for what takes 15 minutes in reality is ridiculous. I’ll buy the tools myself.

Great place! They fixed power port on a powered speaker that 3 other places would not even touch.

My Microsoft Surface Book 2 battery overheated and had to be replaced. This is a notoriously difficult laptop to repair, iFixit gives it 1/10 on the repairability scale. I contacted multiple computer repair stores in Oakland and Berkeley and all refused to even try, saying it was too difficult and not worth their time. I brought it to GCS and they fixed it in a week. It is essentially like new. $150 for parts and repair felt like a great deal to save a $2k+ machine. The folks here know what they're doing and were happy to explain their diagnosis and plan of action to my satisfaction in very easy to understand terms. I would recommend this shop to anyone, they are experienced technicians and honest businesspeople. Thank you Alex and everyone at GCS!

Not open on Saturdays anymore. Should take the open sign off the median so that people don't stop, park, walk across the street only to find you closed.
