The staff and veterinarian could not have been kinder, more efficient, or more professional in caring for our hamster.

I love the Doctors here and they’ve always given great service but their vet tech/assistant is someone who I would never want to handle my animals again. They showed aggressiveness and insensitivity, maybe because they were impatient or having a bad day, but it was super inappropriate and we all need to be asking about their VetTechs and if they are certified and licensed.
UPDATE: Offices responded to my email to them One week later. It was the same vague response. You say that you hope I would bring my pets there again, but I would ask, "Why would I do that?" You responded quicker to this google review to save face than you did directly to me, even after inquiring about my dog having an appointment. No, I will not be coming back.

They are very friendly. The doctor listened about my concerns of my dog and she knew what was going on with my dog. I will definitely recommend this place.

This place is such garbage. It has been our primary vet for sometime. Here is what you need to know:
The medical team will always try to sign you up for every optional test to increase your bill. Average check ups of slight sickness will always be $500-$800.
The receptionists / office managers are awful, unhelpful, and unsympathetic. If you don’t respond to their appointment confirmation text the morning of an appointment, they just cancel you. I wouldn’t hire these people to do anything at my office.
You will never be able to get your pet in within a week of them getting sick so you’ll end up having to go to an urgent care (which funny is sometimes cheaper than this place).

Amazing staff, very conscientious doctor. Our cat got turned away at other vets for being difficult. It was her first time going to a vet, and was very scary for us and her. They did not give up on her, she was able to have her exam and her vaccines. They’ve earned all my future business, this is a caring and hard working vet clinic.
Thank you all! (Especially the front desk, for helping us get her in)

My experience was decent overall. However, obtaining my pet's medical records has been extremely difficult. I have tried calling and emailing this clinic multiple times, in addition to my pets insurance, but have yet to receive a response. Recently, my pet needed to visit an emergency vet in a new location, and these documents were necessary, but the clinic has been unresponsive to my requests.

I had a wonderful experience at East Bay Vet Clinic and would take my senior cat here again! My 11 year old cat had signs of gingivitis. He was lethargic, had low appetite, and was drooling a bunch. East Bay Vet was able to take me in on such short notice. I told them what I thought was going on, dropped him off - and they let me in the initial exam room which I appreciated. In most of my vet experiences, they don't let you back with your fur baby. This was helpful as my cat does better if he has one of his pawrents in the room. They were upfront about the estimated cost before doing anything. After dropping him off, they called periodically to let me know what was going on. Their communication was great and getting updated throughout the day gave me peace of mind. Kitty cat ended up having to get 3 teeth extracted. Little did I know those were his last teeth! He's a toothless wonder now but after the procedure, my fur baby was no longer in pain. They also cut his nails since he was out during the procedure which nice of them since he won't let me anywhere near his nails. I will be taking my car here for regular check ups from here on out. Thank you East Bay Vet for taking care of Dwightsy!

My cat Cosmo started having some medical issue and he is less than 2yrs old. I contacted 6 places who couldn't see me. Contacted this vet and they stayed the same. However the front desk lady took it upon herself to ask the doctor and then asked followup questions. They recommended I see a vet asap and even though they were completely booked, they made time to squeeze my cat into their busy schedule. Cosmo and I were seen within 10 minutes and the doctor was very helpful to diagnose possible issues and recommended treatment. 10/10 for my visit. Prices were on average, but I feel confident Comso received the necessary treatment he needed.

My dog had sores on his paws, they got him an appointment in 3 days. We’re very friendly, professional, and didn’t traumatize him. He was doing noticeably better the next day!

I was looking for a new vet after moving to Oakland. This location was hard to get too and right by the lake, which was really loud and overwhelming for my cat.
The inside was worn down and old, and definitely seemed like the clinic’s glory days had passed. Staff was fine and I liked the vet we saw—but I did have to wait for over 25 minutes in the room before she came in.
Two months later I suspected my cat had a UTI—I asked if I could bring in a urine sample for them to test and confirm since she had just seen my cat for an issue related to this. They refused and insisted I bring him in, but no one could give me a good reason why. I understand policy and best practice, but I was going to request he be tested for a UTI no matter what due to his history and was going to collect my own sample. No one was willing to listen or really explain to me why a physical exam was needed before the test. Everyone I spoke with was condescending.
I won’t be returning.

I took my dog here for a “quality of life assessment.” He has had a rapid decline in some aspects in the last couple weeks. I wanted a professional opinion on establishing what “quality of life” looks like for a 14 1/2 year old Jack Russell Terrier and then make a plan for when that time comes.
I told her what the declining issues were (vision, hearing, appetite decline, wet stools, indications of discomfort/pain, bad teeth & cognitive stuff) & her immediate response was, she would like to run blood tests. I asked what she wanted to test for; liver function, kidney function, blood platelets. Why? To treat him…I then explained we were not there for treatment other than advice or medication that will provide comfort for Barney (palliative care).
The vet then got really snotty with me & said that even when the time comes, she would have to do the same tests before she would assist with end of life comfort. This was after we had defined what that time would look like (not eating, peeing, pooping or WALKING for 3 days?), so again, why is she trying to do blood tests that would have to be sent to a lab?
At this point I got very direct & asked what can you do or advise I do to make my dog more comfortable during these aging transitions? Her response was, I can give him some medicine for his diarrhea. I said ok & went to wait in the waiting room.
I was then presented with the bill for more than $500, for dewormer, IV, probiotics, anti-diarrhea med, medical disposal & the appointment.
The vet never asked about dewormer (Panacur) which I give my dogs myself. She never mentioned or asked about a probiotic, also something I can give my dogs on my own. She never said anything about dehydration, never checked his gums for dehydration (he is still peeing). She never said anything about an IV. And most certainly never said that the anti diarrhea med would be $200 for 20 pills.
Now I understand why I had to pay a “deposit” equal to the expense of the appointment, if I had not, they wouldn’t have gotten a cent from me.
The entire appointment was horrible. The vet was neither patient or gentle with my elderly dog. Did not introduce herself, let him have a sniff (he is obviously very blind) or give any reassuring pets.
I just wanted to make sure my dog has the most humane & comfortable options available. I don’t want him poked & jabbed & my emotions to be played on in the name of money. I wanted compassionate guidance. This place is not the place for that.

I have always had just ok experiences, however my last two visits are what are finally pushing me to switch vets. My dog got surgery there months ago and I was told I would get updates throughout the day. I didn’t hear a word from them all day and had to call to see if he was ready after hours of waiting. The person who answered wouldn’t give me an update and just said “the vet really wants to talk to you”. I get to the vet to pick him up and speak to the vet and I’m waiting in the front for a long time after checking in. Eventually the front desk person asks me again what I’m there for. It doesn’t invoke confidence in their team, especially when you’re waiting to hear how your dog did during surgery with no update.
This past visit I went in for routine vaccinations after being told he was due for 3 of them and I should make an appointment. I checked in at the front desk and they told me they cancelled my appointment because I didn’t confirm via the multiple phone calls and emails they sent me. After confirming I had no missed calls and no emails from them and confirming they had the right contact information, they added me back onto the schedule. I waited for 30 minutes and the vet tech came out and told me that he is actually due for one more vaccine in a month and if my dog got vaccines one month apart, it would be more expensive due to two veterinary charges. She said it would be cheaper to wait one more month. I was frustrated as to why I wasn’t told this before booking an appointment and leaving work early to make this time.
They seem to be a very disorganized establishment and I don’t have full confidence in their care for my dog.
That being said, the front desk woman was very kind and it seems like she is just as overwhelmed by the chaos.

The front desk staff years back used to be empathetic, caring and professional. Now I dread coming in for appointments for my pet. Other reviewers agree, they are just plain mean and unprofessional.
