Horrible experience. She was extremely rough with my hair. Pulled alot of my hair out when combing it carelessly. She talked on the phone the entire time she braided my hair. I didnt get the style I asked for. She left my hair very vulnerable and dry.

When I got my kinky braids from Creative African Braids, I scheduled the appointment ahead of time Friday at 9 am. I get there and the shop owner doesn't know who my braider was going to be and I ended up waiting an hour for someone to come, and when they finally get there and start the braider takes soooooo... long to even part my hair and put one braid in that the whole time what should have been 7-8 hours or less took 10 hours. Not to mention I understand when a braider has to take a break because it is hard work, however my braider left for an hour, in the middle of braiding when she said she was going to be back in 10 minutes so I sat there not knowing where she was going to be. I had the shop owner call her three times and each time she said she was gong to be back in 5 mins. When she finally came back she had food, I understand everyone has to eat but dont eat finger food while your doing/touching my hair and you dont even have hand sanitizer. During my session the women were talking about my hair as if I werent there because they didnt fully know how to work with my natural hair, yet if you are a professional you should know how to work with all hair types, because all are beautiful. I was very annoyed, at this experience the did not treat me like an individual, I will never be going back to there over priced store, I found a shop called Hair by Tawoda that is charging me $50 less.

I've been going to Leemu since I was 18. I'm now 32. Love her. I started going when she was working in someone's shop in downtown Oakland. From there it was to her house on Stow, than to her 1st independent shop on Webster and 14th to her now current location.

I got a huge tub of African Shea Butter that was well priced, lightly processed and sweet to the smell. The neighborhood reminded me of Divisadero St. In SF beach in the early 1990s with international foods and multi ethnic businesses. I had some Cambodian food a couple of blocks away that was quite good.

Here's what happened with my hair: Week one: So much pain had to take Advil the first couple of days. But my hair looked nice. Week Two: Looking pretty rough. Puffy hair sticking out everywhere despite the fact that I wrap up my hair at night and haven't got it wet. Week 3: Full on looking like THE PREDATOR. Most of my braids have fallen out around the perimeter of my hair. My son has started a collection of lost braids in his room. There is no way to wear my hair without looking tore up. I'm a professional I can't go around looking tore up! Week 4: I am sans braids and take myself to a shop that is way more professional and does a much better job. Customer Service experience: I went in just to check out prices and see what they might have available for appointments. The man that worked there showed me different sizes of braids and the prices for various lengths. He quoted me $225 After he showed me this he asked, "What day are you going to come in?" He was being a little pushy about it but I did want to get my hair braided so I set up an appointment. I have short mixed hair so I made sure to ask if there was someone there that knew how to deal with my type of hair I was told that they were "professionals" and they could do everything. Not sure why I believed this... I show up for my appointment and two ladies start in on my hair. I don't remember either of them introducing themselves but I do remember one of them complaining about having to work on "this type of hair." The women proceeded to tug really hard on my hair on either side. To the point that my eyes were watering and since there was a woman in either side of me tugging and seeking French loudly to the other women braiding there was no way to relax. At some point there was a scene in the shop because all the women there had talked badly about a customer that was there while she was on a phone meeting for work . But they forgot to wait to talk bad about her until her daughter got finished being braided. The woman was pretty upset about them bad mouthing her behind her back but in front of her child. After I got finished having my hair tugged on for nine hours they showed me the braids which looked nice (at the time). They said it would be $321 a big difference from the previously quoted price. When I looked tore up three weeks later I went back and no one could help me. They told me to come back a week from that day by then my braids were gone:( I'm posting a photo of me looking like the predator. Week 3.

I love Leemu. I've been going to her for YEARS and always get compliments on my hair. Her schedule is flexible and she will even call in her glam squad for help (I call them that... not her, she's very humble). She's a fantastic braider and so are the women she calls in. She has high standards and is always sure to keeps an eye on the work being done. IMPORTANT: She doesn't accept credit cards for braid services

I have had known several people to go to this hair shop, I being one of them. I have bought products and gotten my hair braided. They do not have a variety of products and when I called and asked for a certain type of hair I was told they had. I make an unnecessary trip only to find out they don't have what I need. Also two days after my hair was braided in French braids the fronts began to lift and create a bald spot. They lady who braided my hair and I god bless her, but her eyes looked cocked and/ or that something was wrong to where it comprehended her seeing. I came to tell the owner who happen to be her daughter and ate told me there was nothing she could do about it. Ok. Fine I leave. On another occasion I come in almost a year if not more later. I ask can I have 10-20 braids finished in front of my hair and I'm told we don't finish other people work. I HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT FROM A HAIR SHOP. What kind if people don't want to make money not even the richest person. I called CENTER STAGE on lakeshore ave. I was walk in and still able to get my hair braided. It took 20 mins if that. This business SUCKS.

Love Love Love. I have gotten my hair braided her twice already ( kinky twist ) and I actually have an appointment tomorrow! (9/29) I love the quality of the twist. Leemu does an excellent job. I always like to switch up my hair colors and its great they have multiple colors of hair here already at the shop. The only thing that slows down the process is if she is the only one in the shop and she gets a customer in the store ( salon is in the store ). Other then that, she is quick and I love that there is a price chart according to size of the braids that you pick before you get started. Only place I go to get my hair braided.

YELP ! YELP!! I went here at the last minute, no appointment until today. I am very pleased with my hair. I got human hair, and a simple style. Pros:LEEMU is a good braider, and understands English well. Also, The bathroom is clean and if you need hair you can buy at the shop. It is inside a beauty store. She has tons of book with pics of her work. Cons: You gonna hear bells after a while, the door bell is loud so every time someone walks in the store or the wind blows.... DING! Also, it will be hard if she is going to have her kids in the salon. There were 4 kids running like crazy. A two year old in a salon is bad, crying and just getting into everything. Did she expect them to sit quietly? She is going to break most of the time to help a customer in the store to buy something if she doesn't have help. TV is on but who can hear it. No credit card use, but you can use it to buy stuff from the store. I recommend you get your brand of choice. No name brands here. Moderate amount of extra language but these kinds of people that do good work can get away with drama in the shop. Overall if you want good braids, worth a try. Will I return?
