I travel through OAK approximately 15 times per year over the past 4 years. I most often use this gas station to fill up my rental car. In those 4 years I’ve experienced 1 car theft and one attempted smash and grab (I was IN the car during the smash and grab, luckily the window didn’t break when they hit it 3 times).
I will never get gas anywhere on Hegenberger going forward.

I had my window broken while I was pumping my gas and my purse was stolen from back seat! Scared the sh** out of me. Thank God I did not have my grandson in the car! I was standing right there! There was a sign saying don't leave valuables in the car. Thank God I didn't have my purse on across my body like I normally do or my throat may have been slit! DO not get gas in Oakland. Even a crowded well lit gas station isn't safe!

While the owners here are lovely people, I had that “Oakland experience” here. 6:30am Sept of 2022, robbed of all my electronics and luggage in the space of 30 seconds. Thieves driving a stolen car so that even though I got the plates, it makes no difference.Chevron owner was a champ though I worry about his safety. He has to install bulletproof glass because of how unsafe the area is! Cops could make their monthly bust quota just camped out there undercover.

Avoid this business and the area! Had the back hatch of my rental car opened while filing with gas and my luggage and back pack taken. I will say the store cooperated with police to provide security camera access.

Stay absolutely clear of this gas station. Like so many reviews I’ve read about regarding theft from rental cars, it is no joke and occurred to me this morning. They reached in the passenger side while I was pumping my gas and stole my backpack with laptop, iPad, Bose headset and much more. Guy at the rental car return knew exactly what happened to me and from which gas station. Oakland sucks

I had just filled my car with gas and returned to the drivers seat when a black sedan pulled up quickly next to the passenger side. A person jumped out of the vehicle stooping down next to my vehicle and tried to enter my car through the passenger side back door. I had locked the door, otherwise they would've gotten in... I echo the other reviews for this location.... It is dangerous... high risk of robbery and car jacking!

I now know property has numerous thefts of belongings from cars while pumping gas. Should have security officer or police posted 24/7. Sometimes 10 thefts an hr! Beware!!! And I requested surveillance footage from theft yesterday . Manager was supposed to call me back today and no call yet ! Time is of the essence. Safety and security needed!

I was robbed on July 30, 2023 at 10:30am at this gas station and lost my purse, phone, cash and credit cards. They snatched my purse off front seat as I got back in car after pumping gas in rental car I was returning. Store told me their customers get robbed 10 times a day and Oakland airport said airport personnel avoid this area. The store employees were no help and appeared to be part of the gang activity. Police do nothing and there is no signs to warn tourists near airport to avoid this Chevron gas station.
