Training with Kenny has been worth every penny. I've been with him for 1.5 years, which has made a huge difference in how I feel. Before coming to Kenny at Body of Work, I was flabby, unmotivated, and not looking my best. Six months before a milestone birthday I started working out with Kenny 2xs a week. Thanks to Kenny, I've toned my arms, abs, and glutes, now, I feel so much better about my body and much healthier overall. Kenny does a good job keeping it interesting and tailored to you. And the biggest perk is that Kenny is delightful so the hour goes by quickly. He's just an all-around good guy who loves what he does and cares about his clients. Highly recommend.

TL;DR: Kenny makes working out WAY more pleasant. You should pay him. I hate sweating, I hate it, I would rather skip meals than exercise. That was working for me fine until I had a major surgery and needed to rehabilitate half of my body. I did not have the discipline to stick to physical therapy, ok, I was gonna be effed up for life, oh well. My husband was not impressed with my attitude and he called Kenny. So now three days a week I get up at the butt crack of dawn and he is there. Waiting. Plotting. Composing a symphony of exercises designed to allow me to walk and bend over without pain. Preparing to counter any protests I might make, block any shortcuts I might take. He is vigilant... always vigilant. I hate sweating, I hate it. Kenny talks, he jokes, he puts on whatever music I want. He patters and parries. I end up sweating but I am entertained. There was no other way this was going to work for me, because I am weak. Kenny made it work. If you LIKE sweating (how?!?!) you could probably, like, unlock the next level and go full BEASTMODE with Kenny. Maybe one day I'll get there too; but only thanks to Kenny.

I had 7 small group sessions with Kenny over the last couple of months. Workouts were challenging and I learned a bunch, but I still would not go back or recommend him to anyone else. I'm sure many have had positive experiences working with Kenny. Mine wasn't really negative, more indifferent than anything. I felt he didn't engage with me or other clients in my group or show any passion for his work. A bunch of little factors added up to give me this impression. I will mention a couple: - Overall he didn't really engage in any personal way. He only asked me about personal fitness goals once, during the initial consultation and didn't bring them up again or mention why any of the workouts we were doing were relevant to my goals. He didn't even really ask me how my body was feeling on most days or if there were any considerations he should make before he wrote my workouts. He gave no context on workouts, how they might change week to week and what the goal of each day might be. He didn't make conversation, and spent the majority of our sessions upstairs, on his phone, or going to pick up his signs from the street (our sessions were at 6pm). I don't expect a personal trainer to be a best friend, but at the very least I expect a baseline level of communication and interest in me as a client and person, even if that is only in the context of personal fitness goals. I could give more examples here but I won't. - Two of my seven sessions I showed up 5-10 minutes early. The door would be locked and Kenny would be upstairs. That's fine. I personally like to stretch and get loose before working out and don't really think it's an inconvenience to allow paying clients in the space to do so when there are no other clients working out. He seemed very upset by this and made comments like "you know I'll open the door right at 6pm, man." Okay, that's fine if you want to be a stickler about time paid for and the window of service, then don't CONSISTENTLY end sessions 10-15 minutes early. All that says is that your time is important. but your clients is not. This also applies to my above comment on him disappearing during sessions to pick up his signs, or be on his phone managing his appointments or arrangements with other clients... if time is so important and tight for you, then treat your clients time in the same way. - Even with doors open on time everyday, Kenny consistently stayed upstairs writing our workouts on pieces of paper, which he then came down and wrote on the board. Most sessions I would finish my warm up and be waiting there 5-10 minutes before he came down or even said hello, and another 5-10 minutes while he wrote the workouts on the board. Again, to me this just screams "I don't value your time." The lack of communication for me was the biggest issue. I liked the workouts but also don't care to pay a bunch of money to show up at a gym, have my work out written on a board, and get a few pointers here or there when the trainer happens to be paying attention. I just imagine there are more passionate, communicative and engaged trainers to work with in the area.

I had every excuse in the book to not work out. I was stressed and bummed out so I stopped doing all the outdoor activities I used to enjoy. I gained a bunch of weight in a little under two years and I felt like I was too lazy/out of shape/clumsy/gimpy/sad/big/old to work out, or that maybe I could motivate myself via some self-hate pep talks. I finally made the commitment and called Kenny after reading other peoples' reviews here. The workouts have a ton of variety. I feel stronger and more capable of doing my daily activities, and have done things I know would have been nearly impossible for me just a few months ago. Plus, my back hasn't hurt at all since I started working with him! Kenny is encouraging and helpful and down-to-earth, and is really good at tailoring the workouts to fit your abilities and help you make progress.

Pretty great personal trainer. I've been training with Kenny for four months and he's gotten me to really like the routine. His studio is clean and welcoming and he really tailors his program to your goals. He motivates well but has a generally chill approach. I like him as a person and really like how he's gotten me so into the workouts. Reasonable rates and just a very good trainer.
