I’ve been bringing my 2007 Toyota Highlander to this shop for a while now, and every time, the service is nothing short of exceptional. A few months ago, I took my car in for a potential transmission issue, and I was blown away by how thorough Brian and his team were. They ran every possible test, had multiple mechanics check it out, and made sure there was absolutely nothing wrong before getting back to me. Most shops, when they hear “transmission issue,” see dollar signs, but not here. They charged me only for diagnostics and even did my oil change upon request. I truly felt like they had my best interests in mind, and that’s rare to find.
Most recently, I noticed a lot of water leaking from my car before a long-distance trip to Southern California, and once again, Brian came through. Despite being busy and close to closing, he took my car in on short notice. As always, he was extremely knowledgeable and transparent, walking me through both the best and worst-case scenarios.
What really stood out to me was the level of dedication Brian showed. He stayed late on a Saturday evening to inspect my car and get me a quote—well ahead of the Monday timeline he originally gave me. When he called, he broke the unfortunate news that the issue was with the water pump and timing belt. Although the repair wasn’t in my budget this time around, Brian went above and beyond by offering to have someone come in on a Sunday (when they’re normally closed) to get the work done so I could make my trip.
Brian even left the car on the lift for me to see everything firsthand, and he patiently explained the issues while allowing me to take pictures for future reference. His willingness to help, honesty, and transparency have truly made him the most trustworthy mechanic I’ve found in the Bay Area.
Although I wasn’t able to get my car fixed this time, I will 1000% be coming back, and I would recommend this shop—and Brian specifically—to all my friends and family. It’s rare to find a mechanic who genuinely cares about their customers, and I know for certain that anyone who comes here will get an honest diagnosis and be treated fairly.

Same day smog service at the end of the day at 30 mins notice - helped me in a pinch! Friendly service, fair pricing, and that little bit extra - walking out to the street and helping me back up, without my having to ask. Great team and great shop here, highly recommend.

First time I took my car what's for a smog perfect passing everything second time I took it was for repair second timer I took a car to them was for repair everything is reasonable if you take it to the manufacturer it will cost you if you take it to auto road it's workable I recommend Auto row 100 percent

?Heart and Soul !!! If your car had a brain This Shop would be considered a Doctors Office?? As the Owner is so Professional he listens to the car!!!! As well as the owners!!! I would consider Brain to be the Master of All Mechanics Therefore he should have ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had smog issues for a while but they were able to fix it the same day I brought it in. Excellent service and everyone was very helpful and friendly! Will definitely be coming here for future repairs

I came in because I had a failing catalytic converter. These guys got it done the same day that I brought it in!! The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable, they set my mind at ease! Highly recommended!

In a time where savvy car owners are always suspect of price-gouging mechanic shops, Auto Row Smog & Repair is a breath of fresh air. I told Brian about my issues and concerns regarding my 2009 Subaru possible leaking issues, and he said bring it on in and I'll check it out.He ran a free check on under the hood and pointed out some issues and possible points that could be resulting in the areas of concern, told me how to best monitor the situation, and gave me some other things to look out for without even asking for a dime. He was thorough, answered all my questions thoughtfully, and patient despite having 3 other things going on at the same time. After a couple bad experiences with some auto shops in the past, this was such a great experience. I think I found my go-to mechanic in the area.Thanks Brian, you definitely have my business.
