Your nurses are terrible, it's good that you're all gone, you're green

Not the best hospital to come to for emergency services at night. It was a 3hr wait. Parking is across the street in a dark parking lot. I took a friend there at 9pm and he was released at 5am. !

Only choose this hospital as a last resort. I was billed $2,756 for a Level 3 (CPT 99283) hospital visit requiring no imaging or labs and a discharge after 15 minutes.

I've just returned from a 2-day appendicitis surgery stay at Summit and want to say the staff and overall experience was amazing!!! I showed up the day before Christmas and may have been lucky but was immediately accepted to ER, got blood tests, sonar, CT and other tests completed in a few hours, and taken to an operating room in short order. The ER doctor, surgeon, and anesthesiologist were all excellent, as were all the nurses. Kind, knowledgeable, ready to answer questions, relatively fast, just overall very nice. The overnight room was nice and the food surprisingly good. Overall very impressed with this level of performance over the Holidays. I'd definitely go to Summit again.

I have to wait 7 hours to finally see a doctor. I arrived at 630pm and ended up leaving at 215am the next day. Which part of the word "Emergency" involves me having to wait for 7 hours? I have traveled to many countries and experience receiving various healthcare services but this is by far the worst I ever had. They told me they had many patients and were really busy but I realised the ones that came before me left earlier and I was still there waiting for my turn. I understand "Triage" but.... 7 hours for an Emergency service? After I had my session with the doctor, they told me to wait as they prepare the paperwork for me to sign. I waited for about 15 mins and STILL the paperwork was not ready and was told to wait. As someone who works in management for many years, I can see how poorly organised the system in this place. I ended up leaving without signing any papers because I have lost my patience and it was like 230am. I left the place feeling disappointed, upset and regret for seeking help at this place.

It took 30 mins for the receptionist to register me and was giving me attitude even before I opened my mouth. I got in at 7am to be at my work on time. No one else was waiting in line , it was just me. She was mumbling to herself clicking forever around then said “I’m normally in the ER and they stuck me here for 15 mins” and it was way past 15 mins, I’m a pregnant woman doing my fasting glucose AND had to go in to work.then I told her I was there before but she still took her time scanning my ID and insurance and I had told her they did that just two days ago but she was so busy mumbling to herself she wasn’t listening so I told her again and she goes “NOW you tell me?” And I headed to the lab and the lab guy took 15 mins finding my oral glucose solution . I’ve worked in a hospital before. It wasn’t this disorganized. I’m sticking to the Berkeley location from now on.

Prior routine appointments were very positive. However, we had a very bad emergency room experience-- extremely long wait and ultimately denied medical treatment with only a pain killer prescription. When we went to another hospital, my wife received immediate emergency surgery and the hospital was shocked about Summit's failure to provide medical care. Further delay in care could have been life threatening. We have expressed our extreme concerns about the care received by Summit to them and have received no response.

My 4 year old heart baby needed to stay over night during to breathing difficulties, pnemonia. We are from out of state and are unable to fly home until he is well. We were discharged, his antibiotic did not work, as he came down with 103 fever a day after stopping. I called to ask to get a message to the doctor that had been following him. They told me they had no record of him being there. They were not able to give out medical advice, which I was not asking for. I called the next day and the nurse said oh didn't you call yesterday, and she told you she couldn't help you. I said I just needed to send a message to the doctor that discharged us. She said oh I'll see what I can do and hung up on me. I have had to live in the medical world for a long time having a child that's had 4 open hearts, airway reconstruction +... never have I had that kind of service from a hospital. And the floors were disgusting... just terrible experience

From a visitor prospective. I found the parking and entry to be secure. A little sketchy driving through trashy looking encampments to get here following navigator directions. Very personable staff from the Drs to housekeeping. I was greeted in every elevator by a staff member as well as given cafeteria highlights at times. Onion rings outrank the fries by popular opinion. An overall pleasant experience during a trying time.
