I have been doing business with API for more than 10 years. Sir Maple used to assist me for all my insurance needs and was AWESOME. The last few times I have called in however have not been so great. The customer service rep was an older lady that was very rude and even went as far as calling me a liar over the phone. I will not be using API anymore and would not recommend using them as long as this lady is answering phones. Sir if you are out there thanks for all your help in the past.

After reading some of the good reviews, I went ahead and called the number listed. An older woman picked up the phone said "Home of the Rate Crushers, how may i help you?" I told her I'm shopping around for auto insurance would they be able to assist? She said "yes" i said are rates good right now? She said "No. Auto rates are like the economy and the auto industries took a 3 billion dollar loss, so its not good". I said oh okay "similar to a lot of industries at the moment but, auto insurance is a state requirement in order to drive, so what can we do right!!" She then said "you must have not heard me.. I said NO the rates are NOT good. I asked surprisingly "well can we discuss what some of the rates are?" The woman then said "NO, I don't feel like discussing any rates, BYE!!!!" And hung up on me! ... If you're reading this, thank you Ma'am for your customer service. Meantime, I hope this review helps any other well intentioned Oakland resident looking for local owned auto insurance- your better off going elsewhere with your business. ~

If you need insurance....come here! I have been a customer of API for years and have always had great service. Sir has always used his customer service skills above and beyond by takng the time to research the best prices for me and my family. I have a few cars and trucks covered. I definitely recommend them and you can try it for yourself and see. ?

theyre always so helpful. i called for about an hour straight this week trying to get a representative on the phone. the voicemail message says they open at 9/10am- at 11am no one was answering any phone. i ultimately had to take my business elsewhere and get insured.

Been a API customer for many YEARS, and I have no plans of moving my business elsewhere. Sir and Constantine has been good to us and always hard at work finding us the best insurance deals rather it be for our vehicles, or business. I highly recommend API to anyone seeking affordable insurance quickly from quality skilled professionals.

I called and spoke to Sir three times. On all three occasions he said that he will call me back. On the first occasion, he said he would email me back in which he never did, nor did he call me back. So, I decided to call him again a week late and a woman answered the phone and told me that he would call me back in which I knew wasn't the truth. I told her that I had called 3 times and he never called me back and she rudely told me that she was walking out the door and transferred me to his line in the midst of out conversation. Then when Sir finally answered, I explained to him that I had called him 3 times. He asked me about what and that he would have to return my phone call and asked for my number. I told him that he never returned my phone calls previously and I would just dropped by. He asked for my number. I asked him about his office hours, he said he will be there to until 630 and kept telling me that he would call me back. I asked him what time does he start and in the midst of me asking about his start time; he hung up. He and the woman who answered the phone were very rude and unprofessional. It shouldn't be this hard to get someone to help you. This is why people are leery with dealing with African American businesses sometimes because of their treatment of their customers or potential customers. Sir really needs to do better and the woman who may have been his mother does too. If I could give them no stars; I would.
