** I thought the name of this place was Montclair, but it's the same address, so I'm assuming it's the same business with a new name.I don't know how they are legally even calling this physical therapy,REAL physical therapy involves a lot of 1-on-1 time to 1) learn the problem before suggesting exercises (so they know what you need and what might injure you. 2) It's also critical for physical therapists to watch you do the exercises, because doing them incorrectly can cause significant damage. (I'm speaking from experience. I was a competitive athlete and have spent A LOT of my life in physical therapy/sports med.)I talked to the (very friendly) PT for about 30 seconds. They told me to do an exercise I new was not appropriate for my injury (tried it anyway and was sore for days) then walked away.I thought maybe this was an off day, so I called to ask if I'd be getting the attention of the physical therapist and told them that I don't think it's OK to just leave people with injuries to their own devices (I would have been better off researching back exercises and looking in a mirror!)If you like this place, it's because the main guy is super friendly and gives off the impression that what he's doing is fine and normal.IT IS NOT. What happens here in no way even resembles actual physical therapy and their reckless "methods" (if you can even call them that) are going to make some people much, much worse than when they started. It's irresponsible nonsense. There should be a legal definition of what PT is and what providers must give patients. This place would barely qualify as a self-guided gym.I've very literally been to at least 100 PT places and this one is BY FAR the worst.I really don't understand the con they are playing to get insurance to pay for nothing at best and likely serious bodily harm!THIS IS NOT HOW PT WORKS AND I HONESTLY FEEL VERY SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW BETTER!The staff seemed nice. But nice staff does not equal appropriate care.

Tina and Simon are the happy captains on this ship of healing! Could barely sit without extreme sciatic pain and after their help and doing my exercises I was 100% in 4 weeks.

I went here for 9 months , 98% of my time was NOT spent with a DPT ( Doctorate of Physical Therapy) but rather low level assistants. Then I learned from my orthopedist that during my PT appointment, I should be spending 100% of my time with a DPT ( not low level assistants) . I now go to SOL Physical therapy where I spend 100% of my appointment with a DPT.

High staff turnover and poor follow up. They do not return calls. Difficultly getting in for an appointment. Refused to release medical records after repeated requests. When the records were released they were released to the wrong party...HIPPA Violation, go figure. Told for over 3 months they were waiting on an approval to discover recenty they never submitted documents to my PCP and/or insurance, go figure. Staff reported it was because I refused to confirm my COVID-19 vaccination status, go figure. When I confronted management on the matter I was told "No comment you're a none compliant patient." Mark my work the owner will be answering to a higher authority on the matter.

I was inappropriately touched by Simon Gibson, the owner of Montclair Physical Therapy, during my therapy session. When I objected, he became agitated and rude and told me I had no idea what appropriate touch is.I can't believe I saw little girls there.

I left a phone message to make a first appointment with the Montclair location, and they never returned my call. So, I made an appointment online and had my doctor fax over a referral. When I showed up, they didn't have an appointment for me and hadn't received the doctor's referral. Maybe the practitioners are skilled folks. I don't know. I never got that far.

I attended the 34th Street location on and off for a few years. After frequenting this location in Montclair village for a few months now, first for back issues, and now for recovery from knee replacement surgery, I could not be happier. Good physical therapy is a vital part of a satisfactory recovery from knee replacement surgery and, never having been through this sort of thing before, I was nervous and uncertain about the whole process. The first time I walked into AMPT for my knee therapy I was just coming out of a bout of post-op depression. I have never suffered from depression before in my whole life, so this was completely unexpected, and quite debilitating. I was feeling pretty miserable, and very unsure about my recovery. The exercises in that first session did a lot to help reactivate my quads, and I walked out after an hour, feeling great. It has been a gradual uphill ascent ever since - every week brings more good news. The only reason I am not naming anyone, is for fear of leaving someone out. Everyone here - all the therapists, assistants, and front desk people I have come into contact with, have been professional, friendly, and helpful. I enjoy my visits here, and always walk out feeling better than when I walked in. Great work. Thank you to Simon and the entire team at Active Method Physical Therapy in Montclair Village!

I recently had a visit with Claire at Mont Clair PT after having knee surgery. I've been having pain in the back of my knee prior to and after surgery that is really sensitive. After telling her this without checking in she dug into the back of my knee with her hand and I've been in an alarming amount of pain three days since. It's heartbreaking because up to that point I had been walking without a cane for a couple of days which was a triumph for how sensitive the knee is. She interrupted me many times while relaying the information about my condition, didn't listen, and unfortunately had someone shadowing her that day. It felt violating and incredibly upsetting.

Poor experience. I was referred here for my shoulder and they never called me, then when I followed up, I could never get in for an appointment. Weird and not a good indication of quality.

This place is ridiculous, especially their billing department. Just today I got a notice that they sent me to a collection agency FOR A BILL THAT I PAID and cleared my bank almost 3 months ago.

Really nice people. I tore my ACL back in July and my ortho referred me to this establishment. I got some prehab for my knee before surgery and now coming back post-op to see my therapist Henry. I now go to their new Fruitvale location but I'm leaving a review for this location since I started here. The aides are great and make sure you're comfortable. There's a lot going on (depending on what time you go) and the location is small so that may be a problem for some people. It's never been an issue for me. Parking is sort of difficult here and you do have to pay. Meters accept both card and coins. I find parking a lot easier when I have appointments scheduled for early mornings though. The owner is really nice, and I feel like that is an important aspect when it comes to running any kind of business. I usually go in the morning and he's actually around working or chatting it up with people whether it be his employees or other clients. Thank you to Simon for being very welcoming and having a great sense of humor. And of course my therapist Henry has been a big help by being informative and patient w/any questions I have. Physical therapy has been a positive experience for me.

Great work Carla on my hurt shoulder. Pain was gone. Thank you Carla on the work you did on my left shoulder. With Physical Therapy and Massage on the shoulder really helped me heal. You have nice and gentle but effective use of force to massage the muscles. I would highly recommend Carla for your recovery. Thanks Montclair Physical Therapy and Sam.
