Line is super long and the staff doesn't seem to care. Only one person is operating the whole place. The other person left 15 minutes before lunch hours, while the line was outside the door. One person asked the staff who walked out, is that already lunch time? She replied: " internet is down, I can't do anything".... This is worse than DMV SF!!

Genuinely infuriating how often they send someone else's mail to me. The previous tenants failed to change their address, and when I asked USPS to freeze their mail I still received it. They blame it on their delivery driver, but honestly I think the fault lies on everyone. Maybe try organizing your management, because I have never seen such blatant unprofessionalism and utter laziness in a federal organization. USPS Novato is an utter disgrace.

The worst post office ! unfortunately the only one in Novato area!! they don’t have workers?! 2 workers doing everything today including passport applications?? the line is insane there is 4 windows but only one is working and the other one is doing passports! just wow!!

I wait 30 minutes in line and during this time a lady comes in and asks a lady at a register, not busy, about some passport information, and she gives it to her in a rude tone, and I came for the same thing but decided to wait my place in line. Everyone goes on their break leaving the one lady who has attended no one. There is another person in front of me but as it has taken much longer than i anticipated since i was just asking a few questions, not mailing anything, i go up to the register lady and said i have a question. I happened to be the second person in line at the time, and she immediately in a rude tone goes, “where you next in line?” i said no but i just wanted to ask a quick question. The lady then starts berating me “did you ask the lady in front of you, were you first? did you ask” over and over and goes as far to ask the lady behind me is it okay for me to cut her, when all i wanted was my question to be answered as it’s hard finding it online. The lady behind me, which i didn’t try to cut i thought since the other lady that just walked in and got her question answered was simple i could do the same, said it was fine and so I ask how am i supposed to do the appointment since it’s my first time and very confused since you can’t put the passport information online, only in person, but you can’t schedule the appointment in person only online. All I needed was clarification and she just goes “yea that yellow paper back there has the website” and “to make the appointment there”. I wish i read her name so she knows how ugly of a personality she has.

This five stars is for this office and it's delivery drivers only, I have not had the best of experiences with the USPS, but for some reason this office has always gone out of there way to make my experience better, from my delivery driver to all of the management I have nothing but great things to say.

I wish the USPS would just shut down, there are a lot of alternatives now.Some of the things the Novato one has done:Skip every other unit in a FIVE unit building, so that unit B gets C's mail, C gets D and the like.Leave a redelivery notice that has outdated hours, (not there Saturday according to website) when it takes a second to take a pen and cross that line out. And when you go online it DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER, and when entering a tracking number it says there's already a redelivery request, which I can't access because THEY did it and I didn't so I am forced to go in and wait in the long line.Again, they should just shut down, plenty of other options. It is simply not realistic for any one branch to improve their service, let alone the entire USPS.

I wish this location was open on Saturdays like the San Rafael location is (Bellam), but am appreciative of the helpfulness and pleasantness of the staff at this Novato branch, in spite of the long lines at times.

I went into the post office with 5 large boxes to ship to HI and a complicated address situation. The clerk was rushing through my order because her boss was calling her or going to write her up. She didn't ask me key questions. Importantly, I was told that my packages would be going by plane, when in fact, they were put in the barge, meaning a 4-5 week delay. I had IPortent clothes, papers, etc that I need and don't have access to. I would have gladly paid more for air. I had to call customer service, file a missing mail claim, and make multiple trips to the post office to figure out what happened. Also, every time I go in the clerks try to involve other people in line in personal conversations.

I absolutely love our mailman. Rain or shine.... (poured rain for months and now it's over 100 degrees out with no end in sight), always comes to our house with a smile.How can you leave these guys less than 5 stars?? Treat your postal workers with kindness and try to understand how short staffed and challenging their jobs can be! compassion and kindness goes a long way. Some of these reviews are ridiculous. Having lived overseas for a few years and really experiencing what SLOW mail is..... LOL, gosh we have it good over here in the north bay. Thank you Novato Post Office ;)

I've managed a large rental property for 25+ years. The USPS in Novato has the most incompetent staff I've had to deal with in my lifetime. And it only gets worse because the incompetence starts from the top. We have FREQUENT misdirected mail, and each mailbox is labelled with the resident's last name. I'll track a package that should have been delivered week(s) ago, and it's still sitting at the PO, waiting for authorization to release it. USPS could blame it on being understaffed, but it's more due to laziness and and staff who have no common sense or pride in what they do. ALL of them lack courtesy to the customers and none of them seem to be enthused at what they do, especially the ones who should have been retired years ago. Almost as though they live to make our lives miserable. Horrible place and dysfunctional staff. If I could leave minus zero stars, I would.
