Manager was absolute worse. Could tell did not want to be working. Accused me of switching new in box ink cartridges I was trying to return, then didn’t allow because one week out of return policy. - UPDATE. Went to the San Rafael store and explained my situation to the manager there. He was happy to allow the return with no problem. Clearly this is a management problem at Staples Novato and not a Staples policy matter.

I love this store! I am grateful for all it offers in terms of office supplies and computer needs. Great Staff. Yesterday, Simon helped us with passport photos and fixing our printer. Great guy and great representative for Novato store and Stapes Company. The whole staff at Novato store always helpful, polite and professional. We are lucky to have this store and staff in Novato. Once again, thanks Simon for making yesterday's visit so easy.

My mother passed away unexpectedly. I went into Novato staples copy center and Natalie helped me with huge photos I wanted for the service. In my haste I order the wrong backing. I returned and Natalie went above and beyond to help me right my mistake. She had me purchase what I needed and gave me instructions on how to fix it. I returned and it was done. She was kind, accountable for the mistake I made. Staples was a forgotten service that now I can't recommend enough. Ask for Natalie. Clone her

This place is a joke. I've gone here on several occasions and almost all of the staff is incompetent. I don't know where they get these people but every time I've gone here I've had a horrible experience and it's absolutely impossible to get help. You can clearly tell that everyone that works here it's just showing up for the paycheck and could give a damn about The customers who need help ..Today I was in here and attempted to use a gift card and was turned away by the cashier and she told be my money is not good there there is $200 on my gift card. I went back in and had the manager called and he told me there's no problem with my gift card was able to complete the transaction.

With most people shopping online now, the only reason to drive your car and spend $7/gal for gas and expose yourself to COVID, is because of the in store customer service . Today, Staples proves to me it’s not worth shopping there any longer.I spoke to the manager today 7/3 @3:40 (Brian, Brad, Brent? - starts with a B) to ask for helpResolving an issue I had once before. A few months back, I purchased a HP ink cartridge that showed “incompatible” with my printer. The manager at the stone said this certainly happens from time to time, I could exchange the cartridge for another one. The new cartridge worked fine.Today, my new ink cartridge I purchased just hours before did not work, this time my printer said “ the cartridge could only be used in the printer it was previously from and could not be used in this printer???” Was this ink cartridge refilled was it not new? After hours of trying to make it work, I brought it down to the store to get help once again. This time, the customer service person told me he could not help me and said that something must be wrong with my printer. I told him this happened before, I exchanged it and it was ok. Could it be there’s a few bad lots or defective cartridges? He just said, I can’t help you. I the. Shared that I was also considering buying a better HP printer today and would buy about 4 ink cartridges to go with it, would it be ok to apply the credit to these new purchases? He said, “No, he could only allow me to replace like for like.” Then, he wanted to show me all of the new printer models Staples carried. I lost my patience here and was very irritated!” I told him I was a long standing customer since the day they opened and I would not be shopping at this true ever again. I drive over to Target, bought a new printer and 4 new ink cartridges. I returned home and asked Instacart for a refund, they kindly refunded me for my cartridge no questions asked. I. The end, staples will see that refund, and will not be seeing me again. Keep this up and you’re going to lose more business than you already have to online shoppers, where there is a plethora of options and better prices! The big stores and Amazon are actually better with customer service as well!

With more people shopping online than in store, one would think the best way to encourage in store shopping and to give people a reason to spend $7.00/gal for gas and expose them selves to COVID aid to provide something you can't get online, excellent customer service! I bought an ink cartridge from Staples a few months ago, it didn't work and showed "incompatible" on my printer. I went into the store with this opened cartridge and the receipt showing my purchase that day. The manager allowed me to return this cartridge and get a replacement. The manager said this happens sometimes, so it's fine. The replacement cartridge worked fine. Perhaps there was a defective lot? Today I bought a new ink cartridge and the same issue happened . It actually said this ink cartridge could only be used with the machine it had been used for previously. Was this refilled by HP, was it not new? I literally just opened the package. After a few hours of trying to make this work, I went back down to Staples. The Customer Service mgr told me somethings must be wrong with my reader on my printer and he would not accept the return. Later he said he would allow me to exchange the cartridge for the same cartridge. I told him I am considering buying a new and better printer today, it requires a different cart deg but it's still HP, can I apply the credit to this new purchase? He said, "No, I can't do that. I can only replace this cartridge for the same one". I told him J am ready to spend much more than this cartridge.I want to buy a newer better HP printer and several ink cartridges right now. Still, "sorry, no we can't apply the credit". He then asked if I would like him to show me the new printer models they have!!!! I was so irritated by the poor customer service, I told him, "No thank you. I M a long standing business customer since your opened your doors . I will be taking my business elsewhere! I drive over to Target in the same shopping center and purchase my new printer and 4 ink cartridges. I will never shop at Staples again! It's not worth it! The prices are not any better than anywhere else. In fact I can fine things for less and you sure as heck will Not get any customer service to speak of so why bother? Their business will collapse sooner than later and I hope they understand why!

I would like to note the outstanding customer service provided by Eli, Natale (in the UPS and printing area) and to Kevin at the register. As a chain, not so sure but these 3 people deserve to be acknowledged for taking time to help a customer.

Absolutely horrible. This applies to the entire chain if this policy is rampant. Bought a $700 printer. Prints great! Scanner is great! Then, after about 3 weeks, I needed to scan some documents. I had about 10 docs to scan, and more to come, so I used the sheet feeder. Doesn't work! Grabs several sheets at a time. Tried the fix I found online (to fix my brand new printer) and it worked temporarily. Printer is a LEMON, tried to return it. Sorry, it's past 15 days! By now I am furious. Staples does nothing, they send me to their online claims (which is designed to make you give up). Jump through all the hoops. Result: Sorry, your issue is not covered. So now I have a $700 paperweight-- ok, it prints, but forget scanning documents. Genius Scan on my phone works better than this thing. Costco, Amazon, that's about it for large purchases. Never again at Staples. I
