It was a heartbreaking situation, my mother had just died and I had been burglarized multiple times. I was blessed and lucky enough to get a storage unit for some of my belongings. I had to ask a friend for help, luckily he was available. I maintained my composure and completed the task. (Thanks friend!)The service clerk made it easy to complete the application, as I was in shock and couldn't complete anything. The storage unit was neat and clean. I never got to ask the Clerk whether they shipped to Oregon (?). I wish I had kept the unit I could have kept my belongings safe from thieves.Thanks Novato self storage for your service!

We had no problem with our unit, however make sure you note the start date on your contract. You need to give 7 days notice of vacating before the actual day of the month you first rented. And keep your initial contract handy. Also expect annual rent increases even in an economic downturn. When we terminated before the end of the month, we were not told that we would be charged for the following month's entire rent. Giving us a head's up would perhaps have eliminated a negative experience - after many years as customers. Responding to Kathy: we did not contact her and wait a month. Actually I spoke with her in the week before. And after I received a bill for the now empty unit, I called to indicate that I felt it would have been helpful and appropriate for her to tell me that we would be billed for an additional month because it was too late to give her notice. Instead, she simply said, "Just make sure all locks are off because then we'll know you are out." I contacted her the following day to make sure all had gone as she asked, and she confirmed that all was good and they were aware we had removed everything. They followed the contract but I felt she was knowingly avoiding telling me to expect another bill. A simple statement would have been much appreciated & better business practice. (Note: I did contact her less than seven days before we vacated - because of the pandemic we were unsure about our ability until a couple of days ahead of time. And I called AFTER WE WERE OUT to insure all was clear. She confirmed that it was.)

I was moving out of the area and the truck I ordered was too small for all my stuff. I needed a temporary storage unit until I could get settled and retrieve the rest if my stuff. The staff was awesome, considering it was all last minute. As it turns out, I needed the space for more than six months. Once my son cleared out the space, I gave notice and once again the staff was on top of it. If I still lived in Novato, I'd use it again.

Employees are friendly, however it is environmentally insecure. Especially the top floors. It gets very warm there in the summer so you need to be aware of what U store there and if it is susceptible to heat.

I have stored with other places before, but Novato Self Storage is my favorite. And while some may say "storage is storage", I disagree. The staff, both at the site and office, are always helpful and available to answer questions. If you've ever been to many other facilities, you would know this is not always the case. The site is secure, the prices are fair (especially in comparison to other self storage companies in Marin) and their availability for sizes was better than anywhere else I looked. They definitely know how to make the stressful process of moving a more pleasant experience.

I feel like the gardens person is very understanding and help you when you don't understand how it all works the first time I showed up lost gate code got the gate code then couldn't figure out how to get into the building cuz it's different from all other places everything is locked up they have cameras very safe. All the places inside a very nice it's very tidy even the porta potties are very clean all wheelchair accessible big open doors to bring whatever you have inside almost feels like it's temperature controlled.

I've had to travel a great deal for my work and so have had my possessions in storage on and off for a large portion of of the past 15 years. I can't imagine using any other facility than Novato Self Storage. They're responsible, their security is always around but never intrusive, it's clean, they really try to accommodate whatever your needs are and their friendly. Their pricing is always fair and I never even once worried about my items stored because of how they maintain the property. You should use them.
