Pit stop after hiking nearby and visiting Nicasio Valley Cheese farm.Picked up duck fat, triple creamy cheese, THE original breakfast cheese, and a baguette for the picnic experience. Friendly staff.Lake area is beautiful. The baguette was so hard it could have been effective as a weapon--please have better baguette.Did not use the tiolette.Deli closed at 4:00 PM.Big variety to buy.Posted on my facebook page and friends put it on their travel itinetary.May the service be consistently friendly, the baguettes fresh, and others enjoy French Marin as much as we did.

It's a Marin staple since 1865 - Marin French Cheese Co, with its own pond and benches, grassy areas to enjoy your fancy cheese in the midst of a Bike ride or a road trip. I remember a school tour here when I was a wee lass at West Marin Elementary- we toured the curing room and the process of cheese making was taught- a taste for Marin Cheese Co Breakfast Cheese (the mildest) was instilled. I return to this day for the treats and the experience to share with visiting family/friends. Bring apples and a loaf of sourdough from Brickmaiden or Good Earth to pair with your cheeses, and enjoy!

A great selection of cheeses, cracker and wine all in an idyllic setting with a pond, picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. A tranquil and beautiful place to enjoy the fantastic cheeses. I enjoyed my cigar by the pond before enjoying the cheese and crackers. Melli Mel was my muse.

It's horribly managed and not worth your time. My decades long held image of Marin French Cheese Co. did not match up to the experience I had here at all, in fact it tarnished it. I'd like to provide some suggestions to management:1) The sandwiches are atrocious. They were just slapped together with the tiniest amount of brie, no sauce or mayo whatsoever, the bread was excessively dry, so it was a hard, dry, mass of inedible proportions with NO cheese.2) The restroom issue. Management should take seriously all of the complaints here as it is a basic human need. It is very tacky to put the code on the bottom of the receipt, this does NOT match up with the brand vision at all. Additionally, the restrooms are poorly cleaned and managed so it was pretty disgusting in there.3) Inside the store is very confusing. It needs better organization and clear instructions.4) Staff was rude and unpleasant.I would pick another cheese company over Marin. I do not want to support ownership who blatantly show that they don't care about their guests.

Oh my goodness!! I lived near this place for 15 years and never went until recently - now, when we live 3 hours away. I took my daughter to Dillon Beach over winter break and we came home through Novato. First, the grounds are beautiful. There’s a pond with a picnic area and what looked like more picnic areas behind the store. The store itself is much bigger than I expected and is well laid out. I was greeted as soon as I came in and was pleasantly surprised at the large selection, of not just cheese, but all the accompaniments to create an awesome picnic, charcuterie board, or gift bag. They had a great sale going on 6 cheeses for $40. And, a couple other specials where if you bought one thing another thing was free. All in all, I bought a LOT of stuff - 7 cheeses, a couple mini cheesecakes, nuts, crackers, salami, packaged candies, and I didn’t break the bank! I divided up the goods into two bags and gave one bag as a “deconstructed charcuterie” as a gift. I’ll definitely be stopping again when I’m the area!Oh, and the cheeses are all delicious!!

This place is so frickin' cute! Not only around you surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of Sonoma, but the building is adorable and they have so many cheeses and other products inside! Step in for a free tasting - I highly recommend the petit camembert with their caramelized onion jam! YUM! Staff is super friendly and willing to help you find whatever you're looking for; plus there are picnic areas outside if you want to stay to eat your goodies on site. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!

Super cute cheese company on the backroads where you would least expect it. They have a vast selection of wines, cheeses, pastries, coffees, and sandwiches. I even saw some desserts and candy scattered around the store. I loved all the options and was sad I couldn't buy it all. They have somebody behind the counter giving out cheese tastings and explaining what they pair with. In the corner of the cheese coolers, there is a bunch of different types that you can buy 6 of for $40. We got two hot sandwiches, the veggie grilled cheese and the turkey. Both were good and the side salads were delish! The property itself is pet friendly and we brought our dog. We kept her on leash and ran around with her in the empty field. The drive to this place is GORGEOUS and I would come here again for the drive alone. 4 stars because the staff kept complaining about being short staffed (which I would have never known otherwise) and I wish they had half splits of wine bottles. The only variety in a can was Chardonnay which leaves you with very little choice. I would have LOVED to have a glass of wine outside while I enjoyed my cheese and baguette.

Sandwiches are on point. Sit outside and have a picnic in the beautiful garden. Of course the cheese is delicious! The staff helped me pick a few different cheeses, I'll be back soon!

Cheese cheese and more cheese! Their selection is excellent. We got a a lot of cheese to take home and spread it on our favorite baguette. The best part is their brie cheeses can be frozen, say whaaa! Yeah, freeze and save for later. The grounds are very nice too, if it wasn't so cold the day we visited it would have been nice to set outside by the little pond and enjoy some cheezines.

Super cute place for a chill hangout or date. There are a couple of outdoor picnic tables in front of a small pond. We couldn't miss out on the 6 cheeses for $40 deal, they are closer to the expiration date but not just yet. Extremely worth it if you can finish it all prior. Christine welcomed us warmly at the cheese booth and was very knowledgeable on all of the different selections, you'll be lucky if you run into her! You can also order sandwiches, coffee and ice cream at the other booth. There's so many cute gifts, souvenirs and artisan food items sold here. Dog friendly but on the picnic areas only.

Amazing experience at Marin French Cheese Company. The cheeses were absolutely AMAZING! The customer service from Kristy was TOP NOTCH! She was knowledgeable of all of the cheeses and gave me some great ideas of how to serve and pair some of the cheeses for the holidays. After we purchased a plethora of cheese, we ordered sandwiches from the shop and enjoyed them outside by the pond. Thank you Kristy for the STELLAR customer service!

A nice stop on your way to Point Reyes Station. They have a few benches where you can have a picnic in front of a beautiful pond. The store offers hot and cold drinks, ice cream, and a variety of cheeses. You won’t regret visiting this place!
