DONT COME HERE! My mother and I have a storage unit. There’s a man that works there, I’m not sure if he’s the manager or just front desk. He is SUPER rude to my mom. and he speaks to other costumers rudely as well! He try’s to auction off your stuff before the 30 day grace period. He threatens to auction off your stuff early to scary you into paying. I don’t recommend. He’s such a scam!

A van was parked in a disabled parking spot. When I went to complain, the representatives made excuses for it. I went to take a picture of it, & one of the reps backed the truck out threatening to hit me. DON'T rent here!

The storage facility is very clean, well lit units. I feel safe storing my items there. While the staff can vary, Dennis is committed to the tenants having a good experience.

Had an experience very similar to the other one star reviews below. Would not recommend renting a uhaul from them, go to an actual uhaul facility. Can’t comment as to their storage services.

I have been with Empire Mini Storage for over 12 years. They have a great group of people working there. Dennis made my transition from one unit to the next very easy. They are always friendly and the complex is always very clean. I would highly recommend them!

I rented a moving van from this uhaul location and had a great experience. The van was ready and clean. I was running late and sent them a message via my online reservation and they responded right away! Check in process was smooth. When you check in, they asked for an estimated number of miles to be driven for the rental period. This will be used to calculate an estimated charge and it was used as a hold / deposit on my card. The staff explained everything clearly, including how to return after hours. After getting the key, they sent a link to my phone. The link took me to an online tool for checking the van out - note any existing damages, mileage, and fuel tank level etc. The van runs smoothly. Drives like a bigger minivan. No issues with it. Returning the van was no issue. They check mileage, fuel level, and condition of the van. I had driven a lot less than expected and they adjusted the final mileage and charged accordingly. I would rent from them again because of the friendly and helpful staff, clean and well maintained office/storefront, and good condition vehicles.

The rents are extremely high compared with storage places just 10-20 minutes north so I'd recommend checking those out. The main customer service agent who has been there for years, has a true attitude problem. Every other employee seems to have a high turnover but in the 2.5 years I was there, this one guy remained... The difficult thing about this business is, there is no one available who supervises him to register a complaint to. Believe me; I have tried. That is something to really pay attention to because, think about it, if all of your belongings are stored at their place, and their manager is doing something unfair, you have literally no recourse besides renting a moving van and shlepping your stuff elsewhere. This is not a branch of other Empire Mini Store businesses; they are all independently owned and this one seems to have just handed it over to this one jerk in the office, who has a real hostility issue, and also did some shady (and possibly illegal) things when I first moved in.I made a reservation for a particular unit that was in the same building as the office, but when I arrived with the moving truck, the previous tenant had not moved out. This meant that, instead of the locked, ultra-secure, preferred building that I had reserved my unit in, I was placed way far out in the property toward the road in a building that doesn't lock. There was a kind person at the desk that day who apologized profusely and then offered me a 25% discount for the first three months. I appreciated this, it softened the blow, and I moved my stuff in on that condition.Two months go by and that employee faithfully lived up to his promise both months by discounting my rent. Then, he stopped working there and on the 3rd month I noticed no discount, AND there were TWO new additional charges for $95 billed to my credit card without my consent. When I called, the unpleasant agent told me that he had taken it upon himself to rescind the discounts retroactively, not offer it to me for the 3rd month, and in fact BILL BACK MY CREDIT CARD for the two previous months' discounts without my consent. I don't think this is legal because I did not approve these charges, and didn't even have my credit card listed for auto-pay. That 25% discount was in fact the only reason I agreed to move into the less desirable building.When I politely explained my perspective, he immediately became extremely hostile, defensive, unprofessional, and rude. He even said he would cancel my account and kick me out, just for questioning his tactics politely. This was very jarring because at the time, I was living in another state and that would have created a true hardship to try to manage. When I threatened to write a Yelp review, (which REALLY got a reaction out of him, btw) he at least refunded the two new charges that had been posted back on my account retroactively. He never honored the third month's discount that was promised to me upon move in. The place is clean, though very pricey, and the other people who work in the office are nice, if you are lucky enough to deal with them. But this guy seems to take his job way too personally, has an attitude issue, doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and appears to be unsupervised.Oh one more thing: on my last month there, I paid until the end of the month and politely gave them notice mid-way through the month that I would be moving out in a couple of weeks. I cleaned out everything, but I specifically told them I would be moving out on the last day of the month. Even though I had paid $400 for the whole month, they apparently noticed my space was cleared out mid-month, so RENTED TO SOMEONE ELSE for the past two weeks even though I had paid $400 for the whole month. This just doesn't feel good as a business strategy. Okay, fine, so they will NOT pro-rate if you move out early. It is what it is.... But they shouldn't be able to DOUBLE-BILL two customers for the same space at the same time, especially if they are charging such an exorbitant fee. (Btw, it was the jerk guy who t

Finding a place to store my archive and art collection was an adventure. ( Until... Thank You Empire ! )I went from Sausalito to mid-Petaluma (and one Richmond stop) trying to find THAT one place. Visiting and taking pro / con notes to perhaps close to a dozen businesses.So many places in between were just plywood boxes / flimsy locks in a dark warehouse, or sturdy tin mono-brand lockers with absolutely no insulation which meant ( and I was warned by employee) super cold in winter, or super hot in summer. Some storage units I visited where outside with gaps around doors.And really suffocating prices for unreliable security and a good chance of ruin or theft.Until I walked into Empire / Novato.It had everything I needed. Security. Moderate temps all year. Clean. Space choices that fit just right. . . And, a satisfactory per month price. I have the pleasure now of confidently knowing all is safe.I routinely visit at my leisure to rotate art, add or subtract furnishings, and have immediate access to my work archive.Again, Thank You Empire, Fred

They charged me $25 for not folding moving blankets from my U-Haul rental return. Nowhere in my contract does it say that I needed to fold the moving blankets upon returning the truck. Also, when I dropped off the truck, no one metioned that I needed to fold the blankets. Based on the other reviews it seems like they do this to lots of people - don't trust Empire Mini Storage, this was super shady of them to do.

Stay away from this place, extremely rude employees, the truck I rented had the window open and rained overnight and the cabin was wet inside when I picked it up but I didn’t say anything because I was late already. The truck I rented was dirty when I picked up but I only needed it to take some clean cardboards to the dumpster so I didn’t make a big deal of it but there was a leaking inside the box and when I got back after 2 hours water from the rain got inside and the floor got a little dirt because of old dust already seating inside and mixed w/ the rain water but something very minor. Than the manager called me after 30 minutes and tried to charge me a cleaning fee and I had to go back and took me about a minute to clean it. Also when I picked the truck up the gas level was not accurate with my paper work and it was checked wrong by themselves, luckily I took a picture for the records, I tried to explain the issues and the manager didn't want to listen and said he doesn't work for U-Haul and mentioned that if I reserve a truck again he will cancel my reservation every time, I felt I was been discriminating against by his attitude and this’s not acceptable. I politely asked him to lower his voice and he continued yelling on the parking lot like a maniac.. He was very disrespectful.This year alone I spend over $3k with U-Haul and I never had any issues till I tried this company for the first time.Extremely disappointed.If you need to rent a U-Haul truck drive to San Rafael where their employees are extremely nice and polite the opposite of those guys here...

Rented uhaul from SR and they sent me here. He called to remind me about my uhaul and was very rude. Then when I picked up- brought home and went to close door and it didn't work. He was a j*** and told me I didn't have roadside asst. WTH- just left his place. He refused to help- called corporate and they helped. Will never go to Empire uhaul again just because of this one employee(male Hispanic-mustache)
