Let me start off by saying that I spend over $200 monthly at Petco and I’m a vital care member. I have 2 big dogs. On 12/28 I went in to buy dog food. A representative asked me if I needed assistance I said no but then I asked him if they price match? He said yes just show the cashier the ad and they will price match. I learned not too long ago that they price matching with other competitors. I get to the cashier name Jamie or Janie (something like that) and tell her I would like to price match. She advised me that they only price match with Petco.com. My response was “oh I was advised that you guys now price match with other competitors” (concerned tonality) cause how do you work here and not know this? This young girl started screaming at me saying “well look at the way you’re coming at me!” I was so confused because in no way did I “come at her” what does that even mean? She then try’s to get the ppl in line involved by turning around and trying to get them involved. I asked for a manager she said I would have to wait 45min for a manager to come. I asked if there was someone else in charge? (Cause how is a store running without a manager or supervisor) she then called someone to the front and I said are you the manager? He said “yeh” (Stuttering ) I said “oh cause your cashier said you were out to lunch” . The cashier Jamie/Janie behind me started saying “I never said that”. I turned around and advised her I was no longer talking to her. Whatever happened to customer service? I’m 33 years old, there no need for me to coming at a youngster over a price match. Seems like Petco needs to provide better training for their associates.
This was so embarrassing to me since she tried to get other ppl involved in this. I hope Petco does something to provide better customer service and experience. Shoutout to Frank he was able to assist me and do something Jamie/Janie was NOT able to do.

Avoid this place. It's dirty, the staff is rude, the manager is awful, and they do everything to avoid honoring their policies. If you absolutely need to shop at Petco, take the extra few minutes to drive to the Porter Ranch location where the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
I purchased a fish from this store a week ago and when I introduced it to my tank, it was very aggressive. It refused to eat anything and eventually even killed one of my other fish. I finally moved it to a separate tank when it started acting strange and the next morning, I found it belly up.
Some animals are just jerks. No worries. I'll just return it and get a new one, right? That's when the drama started.
I arrived with the dead fish in a bag and my receipt. Immediately, I was asked for my water sample (probably expecting me not to have one). When I showed it to the cashier, I was asked to step aside and wait for a manager. After several minutes, A dour young woman who looked barely old enough to rent a car arrived and proceeded to help all of the other customers while I waited. Apparently this was the "manager" I was waiting for. Eventually, after receiving no help from her, I was directed to someone in the fish section who tested my water sample. It showed that my water was perfectly fine.
Great, I'm all set now, right? Nope. Here comes 20 more questions...
How many gallons is your tank?
What other fish do you have?
How long have you had your tank?
Did you recently change the water?
Who was the employee who sold you the fish?
All this because I'm returning a $12 fish! When she finally ran out of excuses to deny my return, she had to summon their pubescent "manager" again, who interrogated me with the same 20 questions all over again.
Finally, I was allowed to return the fish. But now she refused to sell me a new one. First, it was because I needed to change the water. "Already did," I said. Next it's because a fish had died in my tank and it might have released "toxins" into the water. She said this to me with a straight face while they literally have dead fish floating in their own tanks that they sell their fish out of. When I explained that the fish had died in a different tank, she finally relented and said "okay."
So, did I end up leaving with a new fish? Nope! They made me wait almost 30 minutes while the employee helped 3 other customers. Finally, she comes up to me and tells me that they changed their mind and won't sell me a fish; "Come back tomorrow," she says. No explanation why they made me wait there for half an hour just to tell me that.
I got my money back for the dead fish, grabbed my disappointed kids and got out of there, vowing never to spend another cent in that horrible place. I strongly suggest you do the same and take your business and hard-earned money literally anywhere else. This place needs new management and training.

Store has absolutely the worse customer service ever! Arrived 8:59 to get dog food because I got off work late young chick at door refused to let me inside even tho customers were still in Line. Lady was very rude and lazy seem likes she wanted to leave work right away……worst Petco in the valley now my dogs have no food tonight what trash ? location

This place has good prices on cat supplies. With that being said, I don’t think I’ve ever come here and not stood in line to pay for less than 15 minutes. It’s always just one person and 6 customers and some lady asking the single cashier to scan an unscannable coupon.
