H&R Block fell way short of my expectations. I normally use Turbo Tax, but in 2023 I sold a house in one state and moved to another state and bought a new house. I wanted expert help with preparing my federal and two state tax returns and getting the allowable deductions. First, the cost was $480 which I thought was high, but I wanted to get the taxes done. Second, the person that helped me was not familiar with reading withholding statements and made a big mistake which I caught in my review. He didn’t believe me and had an associate review his work. I pointed out the mistake again and it was corrected. Third, about a month after my returns were filed, I got a letter from one of the states saying there was an error in the calculation for taxes due and I owed another $370 plus a late fee. I paid it, and I will never go back to H&R Block.

My tax situation is pretty simple compared to most other people, but at the end of the day taxes can still be a scary process. The staff at the location I work with are always friendly, helpful, and have gotten to know me as an individual person and not just another tax client. They provide me with helpful tips for next season, and my appointments are quick and thorough!
