Strange place with neat artwork. There is a smell sometimes, so be prepared. Sand can get deep and wet near the shoreline, so be careful or you might get stuck. There is a cell signal here and even a few campers.

Bombay Beach is an absolute gem! I was captivated by its unique and distinctive vibe, unlike any other place I've been to. The abandoned structures and eclectic installations contribute to the charm that makes this destination truly special. Our time there was magical, spending 1-1.5 hours strolling along the beach and capturing creative shots with the myriad of installations scattered around. For photographers, it's a haven of inspiration and endless possibilities. Bombay Beach stands out as a place where the unconventional and the abandoned blend seamlessly to create an unforgettable experience. It's a must-visit for those seeking a one-of-a-kind adventure and a canvas for artistic expression.

Quite the interesting place! The Imagineers creating the awesome artwork from the locally sourced junk deserve a lot of credit. It's scary how quickly the shoreline is receding, but there was no feeder stench when I was there in January of 2024. The place has become very popular with the instagrammer crowd. It's easy to get your vehicle stuck in the sand here, so use caution.

This is last month, so we tried to reach bombay beach since 4 years ago bcs we always on the other side, this time finally.. the we just saw the neigborhood, its not what i though on YT or maybe bcs its xmas day and ppl and kids visiting their family, so kinda ghost town its very peaceful when we went there ( the community there before the bombay ruins) some residence are soo friendly too^^.. the ruins is vast land with beautiful arts and unforgetable sunset, it seems the sea looks like a cloud meets land .. the beach itself is smelly if you comes nearby & there still a boat and some jetski riding that time.. so we dont know what about that since the beach is smelly & contaminated.. but overall i still like like to visit the area, the history how it form and how it is now^^ interesting!

Desolate, surreal, abandoned, apocalyptic, eerie, decaying, haunting, desolate, otherworldly, forgotten is how I would describe Bombay Beach! Love it. If you like my photos head to IG and follow Justagirlfromoz + JustagirlfromozRVTravel

We visited Bombay Beach ruins yesterday, after visiting Salvation Mountain. Glad we made the stop at the ruins. Driving in the neighborhood of Bombay Beach was also very interesting. Don't drive your car onto the sand. I read that cars get stuck on the sand sometimes and this poor guy, who is basically the go to guy in Bombay Beach, the volunteer fire department, has to come out and it can take a couple days to get the car unstuck. Park before the entrance to the sand and walk around this strange, barren beach, dotted with mysterious art pieces. There is a non great, sulfury smell, that will travel through your nostrils and may get trapped inside your head for the rest of the day, just a warning. The history of Bombay Beach will add to the experience, as well as looking into how it's been attracting artists recently. There's a yearly Spring art festival here too. Have a lot of gas in the car when visiting this area, gas stations are not plentiful.

This has always been a wild location. If you're into environmental conservation or you're just morbidly curious about suburban decay due to the effects of climate change, then this spot is for you.WARNING: The dead algae or "playa" that comprises the shoreline can cause unwanted reactions for those with asthma and respiratory issues. Please practice caution if you choose to visit with the above stated ailments and wear a respirator if necessary. Be safe and have fun out there!

This place was awesome, if you are into old abandoned very strange places. Loved the artwork and general feel of the place. The graffiti was awesome as well. This was one stop on an 11 day first time california vacation with my son. You could hardly tell some of the inhabited places from the abandoned ones. The beach walk was the best, tho the smell close to the water and corpse Beach was pretty bad. I found the whole thing fascinating...even stopped in the local store. I regret now not going into the bar, but overall I loved this. I would Def stop again, we spent hours exploring the beach art and ruins.
