I am nearly pained to rate a locate Asian "market" so low; however, my disappointment with our shopping trip left me with almost no positive points to share. My husband and I are a biracial Asian-White household that primarily cooks Hmong meals. We are new-ish to the area and were thrilled with the prospect of having an Asian "market" in close proximity to our home. We stopped by with a short shopping list (galangal, shrimp paste, vermicelli noodles, and whatever other things presented themselves when we got there).
Upon arrival, we entered the market and were nearly shocked that it is considered a market. The shelves are practically empty with only 1 or 2 of any item, a very limited selection of sauce/dry goods, and extremely limited non-food supplies. Honestly, my home pantry has more food, resources, and supplies than what is available here. There seemed to be some sort of food you could order, but we didn't explore. Additionally, there is a tiny freezer with a small amount of frozen prepared food and no fresh or froze vegetables for Asian cooking.
It is pretty unlikely that we will return and will venture further to purchase the items that we need.

Asians are a minority in this county, and stumbling on this gem of a place, was one of this Asian's happiest moments. The variety of spices, dry goods and crafts are a welcome change from the norm of markets. The owners are friendly, and will help you with recipes, as well as searches for hard to find items. Highly recommended visit to this "secret" wonderland.

I'm shooketh. Filipino lumpia eating connoisseur and stopped by a random Thai market in a small remote town and these lumpia made by a non-Filipino were purchased and they were SO TASTY and affordable. A lot of care put into his market and it shows - good haul of ALL Asian food and AUTHENTIC RICE. Always bring our rice cooker and happy I have an authentic supply next door. If you're on a vacation or trip in this tourist town, stop by grab and something to try. Start with the lumpia if you have a kitchen.

So, I pass this place every day commuting to work. So while In Lucerne today I had to kill 20 minutes. I decided to drive over to the market to look for some curry meal kits I had heard they were selling. I also wanted to see if they had thai basil so I could make some PHO. Unfortunately, they had neither. Currently growing some Thai basil but nowhere near ready to use they told me. The man working asked me if I had ever used Star Anise. I said, no and he took a bag off the shelf that had rows and rows of spices and let me smell the one he grabbed. It smelled a lot like Thai basil. He filled a small baggie up and handed to me as I was reaching for my wallet. He said take it and let me know how u like it! So unexpected!! Really thought this was so sweet of him and now I can't wait to go back and see what else they have and start cooking!! Update: just used star anise in my PHO and I can't get over how good it taste in my soup! Thank you thai market for the suggestion!
