There are 2 Pavilions in Newport Coast, one at the top of the hill (this location) and one at the bottom of the hill (on San Miguel). I think the one on San Miguel might be a bit better. This location has more variety of exotic fruits, feels a bit more spacious and clean but fresh produce isn't as, "fresh," along with other things. Even brand-name pepperoni, known to be packed with a lot of preservatives, had mold growing in all the packages - even though they were not past the expiration date. Prices are also a bit higher.

Slowly we became familiar with this shopping center in Newport Coast. Residents in the area said, if you are here, you must visit Pavillions. Do check out the climate controlled wine section (fully stocked Duckhorn) gourmet bakery and the produce. One cannot help but notice the floral creations by Deb & Lilly. Just had to peek in gently to observe the fragrant living floral art. So many bouquets were purchased here and clandestinely placed in the perfect location inside. Customer service is on par with the fabulous Pelican Hill Resort. This store is spotless and "pizza" was hand made in front of us as we waited. They have a special pizza oven in the deli. If you are hungry, the deli provides fresh in-house made offerings. Picnicking on hill? if yes this is the place to get supplies. Vons also delivers. Order on-line. If you choose to eat on the patio---it is located on the north west side of the store.The floral department here allows you to customize any bouquet or special order and arrangement. The pictures will tell a story of its own. You can use e-check out or visit the check out. This property is owned by The Irvine Company. The best wine and spirits dept of all the local markets. Manager Laura Spino is a level 2 sommelier and can gives great advice and service. She will take a pre-order from you for double discount weekend, arrange deliveries and concierge service and point out great wines and values. If you want custom and personal service, get to know her.

6 markets, including 2 other Pavillions are closer but I'll go a bit farther to Newport Coast Pavillions. It's big, open and generally a happy place. I particularly like the Wine and Spirits area with the frequent sales and the huge selection. The Manager in Liquor is Laura and she knows wine and what goes well with it. She is my go to consultant on what pairings work and the frequent tastings are easy and add a touch of personal experience. Laura, if you can get her to slow down, will give you the best advice and service in her area. Others in the store seem to be more friendly than in other stores.

The Pavilions is a great grocery store. It is more luxury but has mostly fair prices. The staff are very kind and the food is fresh. The pavilions have all that is needed in a grocery and I would definitely recommend.

Staff here are so wonderful. Food selection options are extensive. They have a bank too. What would you expect from a store surrounded by multimillion dollar homes.

Beautiful store but horrible staff except for one or two long time cashiers. I have encountered enough bad service mostly from the people in the front area in the past many years to discourage me from visiting the store. They should learn how to treat their customers with respect and care like the staff at Trader Joe's.

Pavilions was a great experience. This is a very high-end store. Love their fresh offerings like sushi, Ramen, pizza. Their deli and butchery are top-notch. So is their alcohol selection.
