I would give a negative star if I could. I went in inquiring about a membership with a member who is no longer a member. Both he and I were racially profiled and treated like garbage in front of other guest. She made it a point to make sure we understand that they are “Very private“ and “very old school and traditional” She Asked how we got in, told us we can’t just walk around.. although he WAS a current member and had a key fob. The woman at the front desk tried to redeem her comments after she heard us speaking proficiently and after we made remarks about how unprofessional their staff is. Highly unethical staff. As a business professional and person of color I would highly discourage anyone from becoming a member or staying a member at this terrible place. This place should and will most likely be sued.

Great place to work out. They have a plunge tank, steam sauna, dry sauna and large Jacuzzi. It's a really nice crowd a lot of older people that there's new blood coming in everyday.

A local establishment like none other. NBAC is nothing but class and cleanliness. Thankful for this gym and the people that operate it.

I have been a member for 15 years. I'm perplexed by the one star reviews that criticize the same theme: NBAC has a men's only section. Some asked the club to step into 21st century. These are the same people were looking into a woman's only gym, and there is a plethora of women's only clubs. Why do these small minded women advertise their hypocrisy? Some women prefer to be members at women only gyms because they don't want to participate in the meat market scene or dress up and look decent because of the other women more interested in looking good, than exercising. Well, men like that too. It a luxury going to an all male gym with bed head for pre work lifting. Men, like many women, don't want to feel obligated to dress up for the gym. Woman like to socialize with women and have conversations that men would not understand. Men like to talk all about sports, sometimes by yelling across the room. Newport Beach Athletic Club is not some Men Only Secret Society where back door deals are made and deprive women of business opportunities. Newport Beach Athletic Club is a place for men who are serious about working out. BTW, nobody talks business or makes deals here. Working out is on the lesson plan and talking guy stuff. We can talk about business anytime at work. On that point, the equipment selection is broad. There is never a wait. NBAC caters to men that actual go to the gym, so it does not oversubscribe. It's not fancy or highly decorated, because it's not a pick up club. There is friendliness and comradely amongst members. There is no crime, so you don't have to worry about someone nicking your stinky shoes while you're in the shower. I highly recommend it for men who are serous about focusing on working out. I do not care for male poseurs and dolled up women trying to pick each other up, rather than weights.

Old school and old, overpriced for what you get, but not the worst gym you go to I would probably recommend a Curl or Equinox over this place

My husband and I went to visit and were shocked by the sex-segregated organization of the workout spaces. Women on the first floor, men on the upper. Men's facilities are way better than the women's. We asked if women could use the men's gym and were given conflicting answers. The woman at the front desk said women use their own quarters and the man said if a piece of equipment is not available on the women's level, a woman can use the men's gym. Is this for real? Earth to NBAC: it is 2023. The justification is that women pay less. But I suspect that this is a gym for men and they had to allow women at some point to avoid a lawsuit. They then make women feel weird when they want to use the really nice part of the gym that is reserved for men. I would never support an establishment like this.

Neither friendly nor helpful. I've been to many gyms, and the customer service was zero.

Wonderful gym with small community feel. Easily best mens locker room/spa in the area.

I love this gym. Been coming here for a few years now and HIGHLY recommend it!! The owners are super nice and great people. Love ya Dorothy! Clean facility with lots of variety. I also like that women have their own weight room unlike most gyms. My favorite amenities are the racquetball court, basketball court, track on the rooftop, and sauna. I wish the gym would stay open later, but grateful it opens up early!

I can't be the only one that thinks this facility is sexist. Men have a million amazing amenities while woman only have two! What a bummer
