Michael was so warm and friendly. I’d never done this before but I decided to try it and I think I’m hooked! I felt fabulous even before I saw my hair. But Michale understood exactly what I wanted from a few questions and worked magic. Love love love!

Terrible Experience at Drybar Newport – Save Your Time and Go to Balboa Bay Location Instead
I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Drybar that compelled me to share my frustration. I had an 8:45 AM appointment, which should have been a straightforward 45-minute session. I arrived about 5 minutes late, which I called in advance to inform them about.
Upon arrival around 8:50 AM, I was met by an unreasonably rude receptionist who suggested that I might need to switch to a dry styling due to my lateness. I expressed that I was not comfortable with this and needed my hair washed. After a back-and-forth exchange, the stylist approached me with the same suggestion. Instead of addressing the issue, the stylist wasted time talking instead of washing and drying my hair.
To make matters worse, a stylist named Chloe, who was attending to another client, rudely interjected in the conversation. Her unprofessional behavior was completely uncalled for, and it was clear that she let her bad day affect her interaction with me. I hope Chloe receives additional training on how to handle clients more respectfully.
Eventually, my stylist agreed to wash my hair. However, after washing it and blow-drying for only 2 minutes, she informed me that my session was over, despite having 18 minutes remaining from my 45-minute appointment. She refused to honor the remaining time, even though I am a Barfly member.
I left the Newport location at 9:12AM, frustrated and immediately contacted the Drybar in Balboa Bay. Gigi there was a beacon of professionalism and kindness. She assessed my hair, which was still wet, and graciously fixed it. She spent an additional 15 minutes drying and curling my hair. I felt beautiful and grateful for the exceptional service provided by Gigi.
If you're considering Drybar, I strongly recommend driving the extra distance to Balboa Bay. The staff there are fabulous and truly understand the importance of customer service. Save yourself the trouble and head to Balboa Bay for a much more pleasant experience.

I had an horrible experience here and the staff has terrible communication. However, the girl who gave me a blowout was so sweet. But I do not recommend DryBar. The quality has gone down hill SO much over the past few years and the prices have pretty much doubled. There are other blow out bars local to the area that you should try before you spend your money here, like the Social Lounge on PCH in CdM (I think that's what it is called). Spend your money elsewhere!!

I had a fantastic experience at this Drybar! This was my first time getting a service at a drybar location. I was so happy with the results and wore my hair to a wedding that day. I received several compliments on my hair. The stylist was super knowledgeable about the products and explained/asked before using anything on my hair which was appreciated. The small massage while getting my hair washed was also a treat. I will absolutely be returning again. Be sure to make an appointment as they are very busy.

I booked a last minute appointment to get my hair done, my appointment was at 12:45 and because of parking I was 6 mins late to my appointment. When I walk in, the 2 hosts (one with curly hair and one with a slick back bun) were very rude and had an attitude with me. They said they could only dry style my hair now , when there was only one other person getting their hair done. I dont see a point in going just to have someone straighten my hair and not get the full service I paid for. I didnt want to be out on my money by canceling so I agreed with the dry style. Besides my bad experience with the host, Chloe was very nice and chatted with me the whole time she was great.

I’ve been a customer of Dry Bar Fashion Island for over three years. This location is under new management within the last 10 month, and never has their customer service been worse. It’s a shame because there are a few amazing team members who work there: Manny, Binaz, Whitney and Jasmine. The front desk team members and customer service is horrific. It’s likely not their fault and likely due to horrible management and a lack of culture. Save your $75 and go to a local salon where they will give you a blow out for less and likely will offer you a decent level of customer service.

I have been a customer for over 22 years. Never ever have I received a call to say my hair is too thick and they cancelled my appointment. Yet this is what happened on 5/9/2024. My appointment was made a week in advance for 6:00pm since I work all day. MJ called me at 11:00am the day of my appointment stating they couldn't accommodate me even though for the past 12 years I have had no problem having my hair done in 45 minutes. I was hurt and frustrated. It was inconvenient to say the least since this service was important to me as I was leaving the next morning for a business trip What made it worse is to have MJ tell me over and over how it was my fault I have thick hair. I seriously for the past 12 years thought I was a valued customer not an inconvenience. Sorry Dry Bar I guess I thought it was your business to provide service. So MJ is right it is my fault for thinking you provided quality service. I was wrong. To MJ and the stylist who refused to follow through thank you for shedding the true light on the Dry Bar!!

Fallon is AMAZING! She really took her time and made me feel so comfortable. 10/10 recommend her. Loved the up-do she did for me and got lots of compliments at the wedding I went to!

Regan did a fabulous job on my hair which is not easy to do. I have baby fine hair that is thinning on top. I have extensions... so making it all blend together with some volume can be tricky. But Regan gave me both volume and waves that lasted. Thank you Regan from the Balboa Dry Bar!

Still coming to this location, while many of the stylists are amazing- I feel there are some that don't dry your hair fully and then when you leave the location you think your hair is dry but it wasn't 100pct. Part of me Thinks this is the rush on timing but I think it's technique. They need to fully section hair and make sure it's 100pct dry . This has happened to me the last few times with different stylists...

Sorry, so not impressed, the woman who did my hair seemed totally depressed and spaced out. Done in less than half an hour and when I do my hair it turns out better.
