Amazing location, near the waterfront where all the multimillion dollar yachts are. You can grab bite to eat at Bear Flag across the street, shop here and stroll down to enjoy Lido/ Peninsula - the water! With what’s happening in the big malls these days, I prefer to go to small, boutique shops like Cos Bar now. Great selection of really good products for hair, skin, make up even my favorite perfume collections as in Bond no 9, Creed, Killian…Michelle the Boutique Manager, was the awesome manager from Saks in SCP. She is hands on & helped me with exactly what I needed as in foundation and skincare.

When you go here, ask for Michelle. She's a great listener, makes great suggestions, and I felt good about my purchase. The one thing that they didn't have in stock, she ordered and had shipped to my house. It's an odd little shopping area but if you have the parking app (parkmobile?) installed, parking in the neighborhood is pretty easy.

First of all, it has been two hours since I was in this stores and I am still appalled by what has happened. At 1:15 P.M. Pacific Standard Time in the Newport Beach Cos Bar on Friday June 30th 2023, I entered the beauty store for my first and definitively LAST time. The moment I walked in to the store I heard lots of unpacking and since I had walked this street before and never noticed this store before, I asked if the store had just opened, to which a blonde lady told me "no" and I playfully said "really? I've been here before and I never saw this store" (the storefront is relatively small) to which an employee told me something along the lines of "clearly you weren't looking that hard."I brushed off this encounter and approached a table with foundation. I was in a rush that morning and had zero makeup on, so I took this opportunity to try on a new foundation brand that I didn't know existed. No one helped me. I chose the shade myself and then when to the small mirror on the counter to look at the shade. Then an older blonde White female employee came up to me...I told her I didn't know La Mer foundation existed, and she made a rude face to me. I told her that I have acne, and wanted to see how it looked. She said you me "you have breakouts, you don't have acne. If you had acne it would look different."At this point, I already had foundation on my face so how would she know? Also according to Healthline.com, breakouts are acne, so what is she talking about? She then told me I needed tinted foundation. She rudely told me I picked the wrong shade even though she wouldn't show me what shade I needed. She told me I needed tinted foundation, without helping me find what shade of tinted foundation. She told me I need to use bronzer, without telling me what kind of bronzer to use or how to use it. The constant scrutiny and baseless and confusing remarks made me feel hostile atmosphere. The final and most strong evidence of horrendous behavior came when I was looking in the mirror.I was looking at an adjustable mirror sitting on the counter and she took her hand as she was standing behind the counter and tilted the mirror, so I could no longer see myself in the mirror. The mirror was in front of my but after she tilted it, in was no longer in the view. I WAS ACTIVELY LOOKING AT MYSELF IN THE MIRROR AND SHE MOVED THE MIRROR SO I COULD NO LONGER SEE MYSELF.Being naive and confused as to what was happening I took the handheld mirror next to the original countertop mirror I was looking at, and used it to look at my skin instead, while she stared at me in silent anger. How horrible you are. I am not sure if this was about race but I am an Asian woman while she was White.Appalling.I am hoping this store has surveillance cameras so they can pull up the footage and corroborate exactly what I've been talking about.Absolutely disgusting. Shame on you. Crazy.(BTW go look at the other bad review, clearly this shop has something against Asian women)I also had a spoke with the store director named Michelle, who claimed that employee whom I had a horrendous experience with was named Eraine.

I love Newport Beach Cos Bar, it is always my first place when I am running low on make up or skincare. Michelle and Eraine are both extremely knowledgeable and always help guide me to what I need. They have introduced me to so many new brands! The store is always clean, I definitely recommend stopping by.

Wow! Talk about a luxury experience. I stopped by Cos Bar Newport Beach for the first time a month ago for a cream but left with items for myself and my friends. Michelle and Eraine took the time so show all the correct products for my skin type and damaged hair (I went from black to blonde!). They were very knowledgeable on all the brands in the store which is why I dislike going to department stores, the makeup counters only are knowledgeable on their own brands! I left with gifts for my mom and friends. They called me this week for a serum that is back in stock and I got a discount on it too! This is the only beauty store I'll be shopping at. Thank you Michelle and Eraine!!

Cos bar yelp review Come into CosBar and life will never be the same. Elaine, Michelle and Eraine are the experienced professionals who are passionate about makeup skincare and the likes. I always walk out with something new that I never knew I needed and a lot of suggestions from Elaine have become my daily staples in my skincare/make up/hair care routine. If I ever have questions or needs, Elaine will have the expert experience to suggest an amazing product. Thank you for your stellar service.

Cos Bar is my new "go to" for all things beauty. The staff is amazing! They are all incredibly helpful, super fun and can help me find the perfect product, yet are not pushy. They carry a great selection of some of my favorite lines, including Lord Jones CMD products, Tom Ford, Bobbi Brown and Tata Harper (to name just a few!). Plus, I love that it's located at Lido Marina Village and not inside a crowded/chaotic department store.

My experience at Cos Bar was both uncomfortable and embarrassing. I wanted to bring a business associate from Japan to show her the most luxe trends in American beauty and had heard good things about Cos Bar before. We arrived a few minutes before opening and, since I had only ever seen the back entrance, walked around to the front after the manager (owner?) pointed in the correct direction like we were a nuisance. We waited outside until the store opened, which I was happy to do. The whole place had a spa vibe and the manager spoke in a whisper, but it felt odd. She asked me if I was looking for anything and I replied "Something fun!" to which she just walked away without recommending a single item for me to try. The next time I heard from her was when she came up to me and said, and I quote, "If we could not put our hands in the creams, thanks." Like she was scolding a child! I have never been in a cosmetic store where you were not allowed to use your hands to test the items. But I get it, you use those to test on people's faces. She pointed out a container of Q-tips that was NOT in clear view and handed me a tissue to wipe off the cream that I had tried. I usually rub creams in, but I guess she didn't want me to? If she had told me when I first entered the store that Q-tips were available I would absolutely have used them. Or if she had offered to help me sample something! There was no signage or instruction to use disposable items to sample, so how was I to know that I wasn't allowed to try the creams without a Q-tip? I felt embarrassed and afraid to sample anything else. After that, I felt like she was eying me and my associate the rest of the time we were in there. It was a humiliating shopping experience and I am surprised by all the positive reviews. Maybe we didn't look wealthy enough to purchase anything? When we left, my colleague said to me, "That store was so snobby." And I couldn't agree more.
