“A delightful 12 unit strip hotel that is tastefully decorated according to room. It is situated next to a babbling brook and is located on a sleepy little road that leads right into town. I am handicapped, and I still had no problems going into town and coming back on foot. I will definitely be staying here again.Rooms: Cute themed rooms. Normally when I think of “themed rooms” I imagine something tacky and possibly adult themed. This is not that. Tastefully done with matching drapes and artwork where applicable, the rooms are charming and welcoming. They are quaint, and if you are a techno-lord from silicone valley, you will be quite disappointed. If you are such, please go home and leave Nevada City to the rest of us, and thanks for coming and never returning again! For the rest of us, we will be absolutely delighted.Nearby activities: I don’t know why I clicked this…. If you don’t know about the activities, I don’t want to spoil it for you. I’ll give you some highlights though. Your first stop on your walk into town is the Cacao/Coffee place on your right. I recommend the Oaxacan Hot Chocolate. Most of the family friendly activities close at 5:00 sharp; this is when the boo-boos come out (see “Safety” above).Safety: I use the term “Boo-boo.” These people are sort of a cross between hobos, tweakers, and lifetime stoners. The Boo-boos come out just after dark, and they roost around Nevada City like crows. This property was boo-boo free, and the boo-boos do not manage to climb the slight hill that leads to this property.Walkability: I was born with one leg and I walk with forearm crutches. This location is located about three tenths of a mile from the very heart of Nevada City. For me, it was easy to come and go to the nearest grocery store and all the other locations that make Nevada City so special.”

“From booking to departure, it was a truly wonderful experience. I stayed in one of the newly renovated cottages (Chestnut) and appreciated the clean, minimalist, stylish and warm feeling of the space. It's exactly as pictured, although in real life you are nestled in nature and can see and smell trees through the windows and all around you. The property is also just a 10-minute walk to the center of Nevada City and a 5-minute drive to Grass Valley, both of which contained great restaurants, markets, and hip breweries. Though I never met the property owners in person, they were attentive by text and even offered to mail an item that I accidentally left behind. I would stay at Piety Hill Cottages again in a heartbeat.”

“I absolutely loved this place its an older building but thats what makes this place so unique. It's quiet, clean, the rooms not big but spacious, there's trees everywhere and being fall season the leaves of the trees are awesome. They accept pets for a small fee $10.00 per night and there's also cabins you can rent as well. The manager was awesome and very friendly and helpful. The cost is very very reasonable and there's no deposits which is hard to find anymore. Its easy to find so if you like being in the mountains and the fresh clean air I would definitely book your room.”

“Wow. Talk about customer service. I have been staying at Airbnb’s and hotels, including the racist Gold Miner’s Inn, and nothing comes close to the exceptional service provided here at the Northern Queen Inn. Vanessa always greets us with a smile and is always happy to meet my needs, unlike the other places in town. She makes you feel heard and meets your needs as a guest as much as possible. I don’t see customer service like hers anymore. Anywhere. Thank you for the good vibrations, I think the other receptionists here can take note of her work and learn from her lead. I hope you give this great listener and over-achiever a raise that she deserves as I have had attitude from the other girls, which is so unnecessary. And it goes to show you their privilege. She is the only reason I stay here at Northern Queen Inn and I hope the owners and her boss take note of her presence and how much her energy reciprocates into your business. Like I said, had she not been here, we would not be staying here. Thank you Vanessa!! Wooohooo!! U rock. U make this place rock.”
