I really enjoyed my experience here. There are so many activities to choose from daily. The food was absolutely delicious. Hats off to all the kitchen staff for providing such a varied menu over to many days.I had so much fun learning how to use new machines to create glass beads and wooden items.I loved the self reliance and responsibility aspect they promote where everyone is responsible for taking dishes to the cleaning area, taking your own towels and water bottles.Be prepared to turn off your electronics and connect with others!

I've been going to this camp for 6 years. It has been such a life changing experience for me. Ive tried things I never thought I would've done, conquered fears, and met many friends. The staff there are so amazing and fun to be around, and the counselors treat you more as a friend than a kid they're paid to watch. I think that the staff at a camp can really make or break the experience so I really value this camp over others. Also, there are an abundance of activities. Some of my favorites over the years are throwing range (spear, axe, and knife throwing,) aerial silks, stilt walking, and candle making. I personally am not a huge fan of the outdoors and not having my phone with me but Camp Augusta makes me forget all about that. The only downsides are the Covid testing policy (I tested positive and everyone in the car got sent home, not just my mom and I. Keep in mind this was at 7pm in the middle of the forest,) and the mosquitoes, but the camp is great enough to overrule those things. I highly recommend this camp.

Torn,We finally got acceptance to family camp but all children over 5 have to be vaccinated for COVID even though public schools do not even require this.Even with most all activities outside and testing required before attending camp. All adults going are fully vaccinated just not the young children that are 9, 6, and 2.Really hope these requirements change and we can get in another time.

Absolutely amazing location, staff, and program. We've never had so much fun as family and look forward to visiting Camp Augusta each year. A family tradition!

The magic of Camp Augusta for our kid is the amount of choice offered. There are such a variety of fun options that allow different kids to craft the camp experience that best fits their energy, interests, and moods. It reinforces the themes respect for self and others. Our kid went to Camp Augusta for the first time at age 12 & had a blast, and wanted to return every summer since then.

Our family has greatly benefited from Camp Augusta, in profound ways. This camp is special because it’s leader is highly educated in child development and seems quietly dedicated to improving the world one child at a time. Both our children went for the summers of their formative years and came away deeply happy, more social, more confident, and having learned life lessons like how to be healthy in community and individually. The camp’s choices of counselors are truly impressive people. They seem to look for and find the highest level interesting and good people. The last counselor my youngest had had walked across the US and learned many things, a feat I personally find fascinating. Every summer there is more happiness and progress. Our second child decided to stop regular use of YouTube and video games right after camp last summer, directly because of things he learned at camp. Since that time he is happier, more present in our family, raised his grades to all As, and teaches his parents things about conflict resolution! There truly is magic at this camp, and I am a hard customer about how adults treat children; I am often disappointed. I could not be happier with this very special place. The only thing I do not love is all the in-the-trees zip lines and swings are not my favorite because they scare me, but they are well-loved by my kids. Its so good to know there are places like this in the world. They are not kidding about “wish, wonder and surprise!”

Wow. Camp Augusta was easy more than I expected. Almost to a fault. Let me explain: we came here for a family weekend camp and really didn't look to hard at what it was. I've been to camp. I've been to Tahoe national forest. I know what it was going to be and hoo boy was I wrong... in thre best possible way.So apparently most of the people there are seasonal regulars and it showed. I'll explain at the bottom.First if all the drive from the south bay. It was not the three hours my wife said, on a Friday afternoon it was almost six. Now that that is out of the way, the rest is all good.First came activity sign up, hope you don't suffer from anxiety or fear of missing out because there are SOOOOOOO many activities. Kid stuff, toddler stuff, adult stuff, stuff I didn't think camps could do. And you should read the emails with the descriptions or man up and ask, because some things are self explanatory (pottery, acrylics, archery, zip line) and some sound fun but in reality shouldn't be done by an overweight 50 year old who has no training, but you can still sign up. And then SOMEHOW they get you to do it and you have a great time!Next are accommodations. Sparse, but cool. Open air cabins in villages, secluded bungalows, pole tents, platform tents, and more (bring bug spray, they're all kinda just open). Different villages, running water means not only flushing toilets (really that should be the title and get 5 stars for that alone) but also HOT showers. While camping. Hot showers and camping, whoddathunkit?Next meals. Meals at camp. Cool. Nope: incredible. Apparently it is a rotating menu but for a weekend or week it means without being a host you have a new option at every meal. Vegans, gluten free, dairy free, whatever, they got you covered. You eat everything, they got you too. Ls favourite was pancakes with berries and whipped cream. And they don't go light. I really dig the teriyaki chicken. The activities were all great, but again there were just too many. You really feel like it is overboard until you get to know everyone else there. It is a place that kids and parents look forward to year after year. The wide selection means that this will be your go to for camping for years to come and for good reason. There were kids that have been going since they were toddlers and now in the mid teens that can still go and have a good time. I had lunch (but no clinics unfortunately) with a young lady who was on year 9. That seemed unlikely bit that wasd including the time she was a camper. How cool is that?L was suffering from preteen cool and didn't want to go to camp, but after the first datu he was pestering me to get him in a couple sessions this summer. They are all full but there is a waitlist, so we're all in on getting him up there somehow.Tl;dr: awesome camp, read my review, it isn't that long.

After 15 years of teaching at Camp Augusta, I couldn't begin to imagine a more suitable home to misfits and over-achievers than this beautiful, forested community of hard working people from all.over the globe!

My children have been attending Camp Augusta for several years. It is truly a magical summer camp! Kids have the most amazing adventures, positive and thoughtful environment mixed with so much creativity!! It is in a gorgeous, Rustic setting that really promotes freedom and play time that all kids deserve over the summer!!
