If you want good service go during the day. I went into Safeway around 11:30 PM after getting off work and the checkers there are horrible. They hardly say hi to you or they don't at all. One cashier was busy during the transaction looking at his phone and didn't acknowledge anything I said to him. The lady ahead of me was trying to talk to him and he just kept looking at his phone and mumbled at her. Last night when I went in the red haired checker with the beard didn't say a word to me, the line was really long and this guy moved at a snails pace. I got about 6 drinks a candy bar and a bag of bagels and he didn't even ask if I wanted a bag. I ended up bagging my own groceries. I have noticed that the late night crew are really rude. I enjoy shopping at Safeway in my own town (Sonoma) and will just go there from now on if I need anything late at night. I thought that Safeway would care about their customers and choose friendly people to work at checkers. But I guess that finding people to work all night is difficult and they will take what ever they can get.

This place has become increasingly GRIM. I've been shopping here since we moved to Napa 4 years ago. I don't know if it is a management problem but it has really gone downhill. I shop here now only when I have to use the pharmacy, which is actually great. And the new Starbucks counter is very nice but seems out of place in the downtrodden, dark and drab store around it. So often the shelves are strangely empty of even the most common items, like eggs or paper towels, water or even vodka?! The produce section is messy and dull. I wouldn't buy anything from the meat counter! It is downright SCARY! And I never see anyone else buying from it either. Yikes. Even Lucky's looks like a gourmet grocer compared to this store. I do not understand what is happening here but it seems to me that while all the other grocers all around it are bright, cheery and well-stocked places that it must boil down to a management issue; incompetant and indifferent. I almost always have to bag my own groceries here and that is not what I am paying for. This is not a discount grocer. Safeway has gone sideways and if it were not for the wonderful pharmacy I would never go there again.

There is an employee living in the parking lot who will angerly confront you if you park by his car. It's not thar he is living in his car it's his outbursts.

Went in to get some milk. After waiting for 5 minutes for assistance at the self check after the milk rang up for the wrong price, I left it and told the employee that I had left it at the register. I had not been in that store in a while and will try not to go in again.

My partner visited the Safeway earlier in the morning to grab a breakfast sandwich from the deli, and the lady taking his order was extremely rude to him during the entire process he first ordered a breakfast burrito and then he went to order his sandwich, she must not have heard him because after h asked for sourdough bread, and asked if he can get chipotle sauce, and then she realized that he was asking for a breakfast sandwich and asked if he was going to be a difficult customer or know what he wants and then after he finished his order said to the next customer are you going to be a difficult customer too? How is that acceptable from any store? I work in retail and I don't talk to people like that, if you didn't hear him it's an honest mistake but it's not a reason to make someone feel like they're being a burden

Safeway is close to my house, less then 2 miles, they are open late, have several self checkout lanes. I prefer using them at this location. If you need assistance from a Front End Manager, they are great. My experience with the cashiers has been disappointing. They are not very friendly. I usually go there between 9pm - 11pm & the selection on items is limited or out of stock. They usually are working on the grocery load, bringing pallets out on the floor, so be careful & give them the space they need to move the pallets around. The store is clean, lots of Shopping carts available. They have a beautiful floral department, a pretty nice sized Deli department & very nice high end wine selection & a Starbucks. Overall it’s good, I just think their pricing is a little high. Download the Safeway App for digital coupons & deals. That will save you some money. Happy Shopping

Why do they have both a membership and a digital program that aren't compatible. I needed to set up a separate account and no one in the local SW store could help. Sometimes the digital coupon work and sometimes it doesn't. It's NOT customer friendly and if I can't get the digital discount I feel ripped off. I am shopping elsewhere whenever I can.

Please start carrying some new tortilla brands. The quality of Guerrero is poor, always hard or moldy. I buy them at $5 or $6 for a small pack and end up throwing them away often. Tonight, dinner was ruined again; burrito night with no tortillas. Guerrero tortillas have lost their once great quality and so has any store that continues to stock moldy and inedible products.

I use Safeway for items I know they only have (that Wholefoods or Browns Valley Market don’t) and also because they are much cheaper and have some great deals each week. I wouldn’t recommend their fresh produce or meat section but canned goods and frozen veg is what I mostly purchase there.

Man, Safeway used to be my favorite store and now, I will not be supporting their store at all. I went there tonight to take advantage of the savings so I didn't have to go out on the 3rd or 4th of July... I'm tired, and have been working lots of hours so of course, I go around 10:45 this evening when I have some time And to take out my mother who has Parkinson's. Anywho, the store has not looked it's best in a very long time and the associates have been anyone they can get. You can tell the quality of some employees and it's awful... I was standing in line, I took advantage of the buy 2 sodas and 3 free for the holiday... I also purchased 3 packs of Waterloo... the cashier needed help so she called another associate by the name of Jose. He was rude from the time he got to the register, seemed very bothered and annoyed. Then he goes to tell me, "you're limited to 5" it's late and I didn't see that or read that in the fine print and I was getting the 5 for my household and 5 for my mothers house hold. He told me I could only buy 5 so I said well okay I can tell my brother to come in and purchase the other 5 for me. Well, I'm at the register and he said it was 88 dollars for the total, I said no that is incorrect because a it's buy 2 get 3 free and the waterloos were 4.99 each. I said that's not accurate and he got a little mad... I said I can do math and mind you it's late and I'm still at the store trying to check out... well, good ol' jose has to do It correctly and he has the like growing, and I'm Just sitting there looking at the screen and I said "well no it's still not correct and he finally said "shut up.. just shut up.. shut the fuck up" I looked at him and I was like I beg your pardon! Did he really just say that in front of all these people, and I was like no Jose, I don't have to and I'm Not going to stfu especially if you aren't ringing me up correctly! So then he re rang it, was basically throwing the chips around and then told me the new price, so I said mmmkay... and I went to hand him a 100 dollar bill.. well, he snatched it out of my hand and when he went to hand me my change, he threw it on the ground and told me to pick it up...... I was appalled. So then I said no You're going to pick it up and hand it to me Correctly and he didn't. Appalling and just straight the worst experience. The night head clerk picked up my change, rang me up for the additional sodas and apologized ... the liquor manager named Nicole who was amazing told me this wasn't the first complaint about jose and because I was scared of retaliation and for Jose being very intimidating and verbally abusive, Nicole walked me to my car, helped me Load In and delivered amazing customer service. This store has gone down hill.. they hire anyone... and you can tell... I don't think I'll be spending my money here anytime soon.... Safeway needs to clean up its store because it constantly looks like hell and looks empty and their employees that they choose are awful with customer service and seem not to care about their jobs.

Very poor service in deli department, Never again. On Friday the 26th of May @ 12:15 pm I was on my lunch break and stopped in for a sandwich and a few other things. At the sandwich counter there was a couple being helped. The woman making the order was involved in a personal conversation with the couple. I waited thinking she would be finished soon with the 1 sandwich. The conversation continued even to stop preparing the sandwich to continue with her talk.8 minuets later she finally finished the 1 sandwich. She then wanted to ring them up so I asked her if I could write my order down and go pick up the other items that I needed. She said fine. I got my items and came back and she was no where to be found. My order still on the counter. Another employee came around the corner and was surprised to see people waiting at the sandwich counter at lunch time. I explained the situation and she gave me a funny look like she knew who I was talking about. The new gal started on my order, meanwhile I saw the chatty employee walking by with her phone out talking to another customer. I asked her why she did not make my order. She looked at me like I was annoying her and said she would do it now. I told her it was being taken care of. I don't understand how a deli employee has no concept that people are on lunch breaks and their time is limited. I told her this and she just walked off. Safeway employees do not seem to care anymore. Safeway prices have gone way up and the service has gone way down. No more , my time and money are more valuable then to subject myself to this corporation and employees that simply do not care. Napa has plenty more options for a better sandwich and pleasant employees.

For the price of $80 and with some attitude from the young lady at floral you can get your floral arrangement done very crappy. Pre ordered for Mother's Day a month in advance and come to find out they not only did they forget 12 dozen roses but also did not make it right the second time. I not only had to wait another almost 30 minutes to have it made right but as you can see this is what was handed to me the second time. Seems like the florist was not happy about making it right. After that I had to drive back to Safeway 15 minutes from my house in order to be taken care of once again but still wasn't done right such a big inconvenience. If you need to buy any flowers try the street Vendors such better bouquets and way better customer service and a bigger variety. I was very unsatisfied repurchasing from them. Seems to me that they were more worried about the bouquets that are on display rather than the preordered ones, by the 2 stars this store holds I guess they are more worried about money than customer service. Pictures speak for themselves I have gotten super great bouquets in the past from prior Mothers Days but this by far was the worst experience.

I wish they had more special promos and perks for members and some attention to handicapped or disabled members and customers, as sometimes they migjt need help with groceriesor finding certain items as well . I love some of the products, and so does my wife.
