I tried to make a deposit Sunday and the ATM was out of service (again). I couldn't make a deposit in-person either, because they are closed Sundays, so an automatic payment went through and overdrafted my account with a fee, because their ATM was out of service.
I go in Monday morning at 10am as soon as they open, explaining the situation and asking if they could reverse the fee. The Mexican lady at the window said she'd have to submit it and put it in review. I told her that's the first time I've ever heard that-they usually reverse fees right then and there if they are going to.
She tells me "well that's how we're doing it now." with a huge smug lingering smile on her face. I knew that was bullsh*t, so I left and called Golden 1 customer service and they reversed the fee immediately as I sat there in the parking lot outside the bank. Absolutely horrible gaslighting "service" at the Napa location.

Very bad bank, I don't recommend it at all, the car I have with them is going to move on to another much better bank, not like this crappy bank.

Good teller service. No trash receptacle by ATM machine. Therefore, people will leave their beverage cup/trash near the keypad.

First my history with Golden1. I got a car loan in the summer of 2020. After the dealer I was working with hit up different lenders and I ended up at G1 with a car loan. Standard 5 year kind of deal. I got to work and paid it off in 20 months instead of 60. No issues there, I was making huge monthly payments and had no contact with them because there were no problems. Then that was it. A few months later I started getting letters to put some money in the savings account to keep it open. I ignored it for months and then finally decided to add some money in there to keep that relationship alive. After I deposited a small amount in savings I got an ATM card, not a visa/mastercard debit, a literal ATM card. I have never used it. I also called in once in the beginning because I could not create an online account to use the app. That was my one phone encounter, all good no issues there.The branch person in Napa CA was nice and helpful. I went in again because my phone number to activate the card was no good. I went in a second time and the number on file back from the car loan in 2020 (now late 22) was not right, I have no idea where it came from. Again, the branch employee was helpful. Oh and I forgot to mention both of these visits were on Saturday, they have short hours like 10am to 2pm I think, that's another reason I went with them. I still was at Citibank for my checking by the way. Ok next I decided in Jan of 2023 to check out their credit card offers. Their member cash rewards plus looks really good. 4% back on gas, 3 for groceries and restaurants and food delivery, 1% everything else and no annual fee. They clearly state you need good to excellent credit for this card, and might offer you the next card down if you don't qualify for this one. My FICO in Jan of 2023 was around 788. Glad I stuck with G1, I was approved online in under a minute with a 14.5k credit limit. Nice. After that I opened a checking account and deposit my paychecks there. So far no issues.So here's my only reason for 4 stars not five. It's the app. There are two, one that just says G1 and one called card controls. You don't need both just the basic one with get you to everything. So the app is just buggy, slow and crashes a lot. Sometimes you open it, and it opens for 2-3 seconds and it's gone and you have to repeat. Sometimes it's fine. Other times it just locks up when switching between debit card and credit card. You have a lot of controls for your credit and debit cards. You can choose what areas (by zip code) your cards can be used and set dollar limits as well. You also have controls for what type of business your cards will work at. Look around you have a lot of controls. I have chase/amazon, discover, AMEX and Capital One and they don't have these options. Transfers from checking to savings or the other way around are instant and easy. Paying the G1 cards is fast an easy as well. So I started using my new G1 card around end of Jan 2023, I don't have any cash back yet. I don't like that you can't see it as you go along or by transaction. I think I read a review that states it gets deposited once a month to your savings. I don't like that, I wanted it to be connected to my card like my other credit cards so I can see the amount separately. But I haven't been using it long enough to see cash back numbers. Almost forgot my APR is just over 16% it's lower than all my other cards. I pay off all my balances so I never pay interest, but if I had a really big purchase or emergency the G1 is the go to.

They don't deserve 1 star. Most unhelpful group/institution I have experienced. No effort whatsoever to help solve a problem. Standard answer for any question is you can't. It is against our policy. Maybe instead of sponsoring overpriced sports arenas you should invest in your staff on how to work with customers and be friendly. But that's just not in your area of expertise is it?

Boooooo to the employees and the atm here! I came around 7am to deposit and it started freezing and then didn't let me retrieve my card. I wasted twenty minutes before work and then had to leave my card behind. Head there at 1230 and it was a huge hassle printing me a new card because their machine was malfunctioning. Then I had to switch over all my auto pays and it was a headache. Then come to find out they could have retrieved the card from the atm for me! Confirmed by a current golden one employee who said as long as it's the same day they should be able to. So your lazy staff was just being unhelpful, which is not cool when they are in customer service. Thanks for ruining the day!

Absolutely horrible service cannot even call to get your balance I'm so stressed screaming at my phone. Would never recommend golden 1 of you use the phone. Really has many problems. So many. Very unprofessional

Just sold my house and I’m carrying the note. I wanted to open a account golden one because the buyer has an account there and I thought it easy for him to make payments. I walked in with a $50,000 cashiers check and try to open a checking account. I was told I couldn’t. Was given a business card and said I can open one online.

I bought my first vehicle with a loan from them.I tried to get an account there now that I have moved back to California.They are very different.The new branch office is nice, but the customer service is terrible. The man that I dealt with was rude and dismissive.As a result, I now have an account with Redwood Credit Union.

This credit union is absolutely terrible I paid thousands of dollars to pay off my car and then come to find out a month and a half later they were still taking money out of my account for the car that was paid off. I waited on hold for about 20 minutes spoke to one person who said I had to speak to someone else and that person I had to speak to an "escalation team" whatever the hell that means the end of the day I had them overnight a check and I had to pay a fee of $31 just to get my money I told them in the future when people pay off loans maybe let them know they have to go in and physically cancel the money transfer which is stupid but that's the company I am dealing with.

It was great location from where it was (by Napa State Hosp.). When the Corona is over,I think the parking lot will be too small. Fast friendly service I'd be careful about doing their Online Banking Paperless Banking. EG. I've spent 3 hours just trying to get a copy or PDF of my Monthly Bank Statement. Changed password and now it's locked me out. This is a ridiculous amount of time just to order or see MY ACCOUNT. AND MY INFO. FIX IT PLEASE?! Danke
