Big thanks to David and the crew at The Car Doctor. I had a very difficult to diagnose clunk in my Miata that another mechanic had given up on. The guys spent days trying to track down the clunk, which they eventually found involved some aftermarket suspension parts another shop had installed on the car. The car is back up and running with no clunk and the bill did not reflect the number of hours they spent on it, I'm sure. Thanks Car Doctor!

David was extremely helpful and kind. We are on vacation from out of town and the cover to the under carriage of our car fell part way off, dragging on the ground. We had a 7 hour drive ahead of us the next day and wasn't sure if we'd find a place in time before we leave. I called 5 min to close in hopes I could set up a time the next day to Have it looked at. He's said go ahead and come right then. Long story short, he stayed almost an hour after close and worked hard to fix it. He even gave my two young daughters a Popsicle out of the kindness of his heart. When we asked how much we owe, he said only a few bucks for supplies. David went above and beyond. And he didn't have too. This family was very appreciative of his kindness.

Car doctor*The short story: I highly recommend David at the Car Doctor. I blew my bearings on my trailer axle on a Friday night before a holiday weekend. David went above and beyond to take care of a total stranger. I don't live in the area so I wouldn't be a repeat customer. He simply spent time out of his personal life on a holiday weekend so that my wife and kids could enjoy some time out on the lake the next day. ***The long story***It's 4:30 Friday afternoon of Memorial Day Weekend and the bearings on my boat trailer axle busted as I'm heading to New Melones Lake. I call a few places in a panic and end up talking to David (the owner) at the Car Doctor in Murphys. They close at 5 and I'm 20 minutes away. David tells me to bring my trailer in and he'll see what he can do. I show up as the shop is closing. He's already helping another customer who's also in a jam on the holiday weekend and he tells me to detach my trailer while he's finishing up with the other customer. David looks at my axle, tells me he'll be right back and comes back a few minutes later in his mechanics clothes. David went above and beyond to take care of a total stranger. I don't live in the area so I wouldn't be a repeat customer. He simply spent time out of his personal life on a holiday weekend so that my wife and kids could enjoy some time out on the lake the next day. Not only did he fix my bearing and clean up my axle, he inspected my trailer and tires. He found a loose bolt in my trailer and noticed my tires were way under inflated. David recommended that I take the boat and trailer back to the dealer for further inspection. We made it safely back to the Bay Area two days later thanks to David. I highly recommend The Car Doctor!

Can't say enough on how great they were. We were traveling through and had a problem with the brakes on our truck. I called them to see if there was any chance they could look at the truck. Even though they were short staffed because someone was sick, they said to come on by. We got there a few minutes later and they had us wait in their lounge. The mechanic got to our truck next, found we had lost a bolt to our brake caliper. While they didn't have the exact bolt, they had one that would work fine. All in all we were there a little over an hour, they charged us $101 for 40 minutes and a bolt and sent us on our way home. They were pleasant, courteous, professional, and most of all efficient. If we lived in the area they would be our mechanic for life.

David and crew did a fantastic job diagnosing our issue with our 2008 Nissan Xterra. Suddenly lost power, brakes, steering going down a hill.We were worried we would be stuck as we are only here for the summer and drove across country to stay at our cabin in Arnold. The guys fixed us up in a couple days and went the extra mile by installing a fuse bypass so if it happens again we can replace it easily while on the road! Yeah guys- you rock!

After a long road trip, I discovered that I had a pretty bad oil leak. I didn't have the tools or resources to locate the issue myself. The Car Doctor was the only shop that was willing to take my car in the same day and even worked around my schedule to get it in. They called me the next morning and told me exactly what the issue was and had it fixed by the end of the day. Great customer service.

This is a solid shop- honest, helpful, and knowledgeable. I took my truck in because DMV said I needed a smog check. Rather than just do the work, they explained that DMV made a mistake and thereby saved me a lot of of money and hassle. Respect!

Not a good place for a smog. Part of the problem is they have a monopoly in the county. I made an appointment to smog my car and had to drop it off for the day and it cost $85. Got a van smogged and they charge $130! On the receipt said smog for a motor home. A van is not a motor home! I got the same year, make and model van smogged in Sonora for under $70 and was in and out in 15 minutes. Chill out on your prices please car Dr.
