4.5/5. If you're tired of all those "luxury" units that offer lots of stuff no one needs and you just want a reasonable place, you'll want to consider this one.Let's start with the bad. The property is old, which means you'll get the usual issues, including the type of noise that is detrimental to cardiac health. If you're considering a lower unit, try to get a feel of how much movement you'll have upstairs before renting. Telltale signs of too much movement usually, but not always, include lots of stuff on the deck and presence of doorbell cameras. There are units that feel like tyrannosauruses live upstairs. When they walk, you can see ripples on water glasses standing on your kitchen counter. It's striking, yet not surprising given the structure. Some people and pets are nocturnal, so the movement could easily start at 11pm and end at 2am. Even in units with light footed upstairs tenants, you'll get the same noises from the hallways, albeit less intense. People let doors slam shut, with a force that shakes doors across the hallway. Another potential noise issue comes from wall-mounted TVs. The wall becomes a passive amplifier of the speakers, and it can feel super loud in adjacent units. Lastly: be careful with elevators and trash containers. Elevators are noisy and the trash is loudly dragged out in the early morning hours. If you get a low noise unit, you'll be fine. The very good: Management. They're super helpful. Although short-staffed, they get the job done and are easy to work with. Note: don't waste your time trying to get through the phone robots, you won't ever reach anyone at the leasing office, just pay them a visit in person. Same goes for applying: go physically. Take a look at the actual apartments. You will have to do application stuff online, but make sure you visit first.More about the units: The renovated ones are good, make sure to take a look at those. Some of the heaters are weak, be prepared with supplemental heating like space heaters. The air conditioners are OK, powerful for their size. I just wish they were reversible heat pumps. The parking situation is good, though not assigned so you might need to spend time looking for your preferred spots. AT&T fiber internet is great, though be advised: it will take a tech visit and about 4 hours to get set up, even in pre-wired units. You have to go through the bulk account and pay the corporate Avalon middlemen, but at least you get more speed for the price. If you go with Xfinity, you can set the equipment up yourself, and the network at the property gets good signal, so you'll have a stable connection.I hate that PG&E is paid through Conservice, they're horrible, but they're everywhere and inescapable. Electric meter numbers don't match, you'll wonder if you're being scammed. Units have no water meters, and the water heaters are common gas fired boilers (btw: they still depend on electricity, so hot water goes out when there are power outages) it's pretty much all divided "equally". So feel free to use all the water you want. The pipes are old galvanized, so don't be alarmed by nasty colors just after opening faucets. BTW, there's a review here saying you'll want to look for a new shower head from Amazon. Don't do that. Tell maintenance about any issue, and they'll help you. I was unsatisfied with my shower head's pressure, and they replaced it in no time and it's perfect. The culprit of blocked shower heads is probably the galvanized piping.I've no complaints about amenities. There's occasionally minor issues: An elevator somewhere is down. A laundry room needs to be closed for a while. The system to reload the laundry card breaks. PG&E has a power outage for a few hours. Key fobs stop working. I've seen these kinds of issues happen everywhere, and personally haven't been affected by any of these, so my review is very positive. It might seem like I'm negative. I

We had fantastic service from leasing agent, Mae Riedel, at Eaves Mountain View! She went above and beyond the call of duty, first squeezing me in for help when I showed up without an appointment; then notifying us when an apartment that better suited our needs at our price point came available (as we were about to rent a different unit at Eaves); then videotaping a walkthrough of the different apartment, then spending hours helping us complete the application process, which was complicated because the applicant is out of state. Thanks so much, Mae!

While the apartments themselves are older, the location is fantastic. There is plenty of open parking.

If it's one thing I learned about finding a place to live in my years of renting... it's read the Google Reviews BEFORE you move in... and I'm glad I did for this life chapter of where I live.My experience so far has been above and beyond thanks to the down to earth leasing team who actually WANT you to have a great experience prior to moving in AND after - the latter part being non-existent from my prior renting experiences. The maintenance team is top notch (You'll meet "The Hectors" as early as your first day!) and Eaves at MTV deliver everything they set out to do which is a high value living situation. The buildings are NOT new - and you'll definitely want a renovated unit. I saw the "classic packages" and even though it was exponentially cheaper... I couldn't allow myself to resent where I woke up every day just to save a few bucks and am glad I made the upgrade. The only gripe is that you'll probably want to look up on Amazon "Shower heads that increase water pressure".The grounds are great and meet the brand at high value. Tennis courts are run by an awesome guy named Francisco. The community feels safe and everyone I've met so far has been great and fills the "working professional" label - which also speaks to the lack of decor you'll see on balconies - but hopefully I'll help change that trend.Their are vagrants that pass through the grounds but coming from Oakland... they are harmless and just passing through and have not been known to cause property crime – but you'll probably be picking up community trash on the common grounds out of your own sanity and pride for where you live. All in all... I highly recommend this community as a place to live - based on the value, above and beyond support from the day to day teams here, sense of security, proximity to work, a great pool and hot tub, a utilized tennis and basketball court area and friendly community. The only thing I'd like see be built is a bike cage as the only options are to keep it on your balcony or out at regular ol' public bike rack.

I have been living here since 2019 and the current staff is the best ever of whom I have interacted with Mae, Hector, Victor. They are very quick, responsive, solution oriented and extremely friendly.I love the celebrations like pizza day, doughnut day, pie day etc make it feel really like community. Swimming pool is great, gym is great, barbecue burners, grass and trees are taken care of nicely. Common areas are clean. There are hub lockers to get packages to in safely manner. There is huge parking. Walking distance to mountain view station, downtown and Steven Creek. There are tennis courts too but they are rarely available as it is taken over by some class running company, so consider it is not part of society as it is never available. Table tennis is only available when the leasing office is open.

Worst apartment living experience so far. Stay far away unless you're under thirty. Staff is expressly unwilling to help with issues. Cars get keyed. Buildings are former army barracks and are rickety. Extremely unpleasant experience.

I've lived here for a few years in a 1B1B apartment, and here's what I thought:Overall, good amenities and very friendly staff! Hector A has been doing a great job keeping the apartment in working condition, and other staffs are very warm and welcome too. But, the property is pretty old, so expect things to break down frequently even if you are being careful. Some specifics:- The appliances are pretty old- There's a scheduled lawn maintenance every Wednesday which creates some noise, so be aware if you are working at home that day. Other than that it's nice to maintain the lawns.- The bathtub won't work if you're anywhere 5'9'', the build quality was pretty bad as it's not supported evenly and you can feel the surface move up and down when you stand on it - as a result surface cracks can happen. I really prefer a plain shower instead.- The fake tiles in the bathroom look dirty but they just look like that :)In conclusion, I'd say this is a nice place to live if you manage your expectations.

2 Stars because Matt (whom we worked with) did fantastic at his job. Otherwise, I would've rated this a 1 star, despite the great neighborhood and rooms available. My partner and I decided to not move forward with getting a studio here and the process to cancel was terrible. It's pretty much impossible to get a hold of this exact location even when we were first interested in the place. Calling the number given would just prompt you to speak with an AI and that AI would direct you to another site/branch, which would then direct you to other sites as well. A never-ending loop of frustration.Ultimately, we were charged $283 for "holding" the listing off the marketplace because of the bad contacting system they have in place. Had to go in in-person 3 times, which was about 40 minutes away, just to talk to the actual representatives at Mountain View.

I didn't end up signing a lease here but can speak to a very positive touring experience!Matt was my apartment consultant who walked us through all our options and the amenities on site. He was knowledgeable about the various apartment types offered, personable, quick-thinking and helpful. He took the time to patiently educate us on important things like rent control, answered our questions thoroughly and helped us identify apartments to tour based on our preferences. We walked away feeling informed and it was clear that he was thinking for our needs, instead of just trying to get us to sign. Certified banger!

I am currently living in this apartment with high satisfaction.I moved from South Korea, and I did not know about the detailed procedures in the contract.Mae, the supervising manager, guided my very swiftly with kindness, which is still on-going till now. She arranged the maintenance of my garbage disposal to be finished within a day, and it was quite impressive.During the check-in, Matthias helped me in a lots of ways, introducing all the details precisely, carrying heavy luggage, etc.Because I never lived US before, I don't know exactly how much the quality of this apartment locates comparing to the average of US.However, I am pretty sure this apartment is close to the high quality buildings in South Korea, which are quite fancy enough in global standards.

eaves Mountain View at Middlefield is a FANTASTIC place to live. Let me tell you why.First: the staff. Each and every member of the management and maintenance team has a wonderful personality and keen eye for service. My wife and I were absolutely blown away by our reception when we first toured the complex. Mae, who works at the front desk, is a delightful soul and incredibly professional. We had visited a dozen other complexes before, and nowhere else came close to matching how helpful and welcoming Mae was. Fast forward to today, two months into our lease, and we have found that Mae and the other folks in the front desk are responsive, professional, and kind. The maintenance team in particular works very promptly and are clearly skilled at what they do. Any request that we've sent in on the administrative or maintenance side has been resolved quickly and efficiently. For such a large complex, this is huge - you will be very well taken care of here!Second: Value. The rent, at least for our lease, encompasses an array of amenities, comfort, and square footage that outstrips the majority of comparable apartment communities in terms of value. This is based on a limited sample, and we are new to the bay area, but other complexes that offered similar amenities were hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars more expensive. The apartments have modern appliances, grills, a pool, tennis courts, and basketball courts.Third: Location. The area surrounding the complex is beautiful, safe, convenient, and peaceful. The apartments are just off the highway and within a 10-minute drive of Costco, 99 Ranch, Safeway, etc. Downtown Mountain View and the shops on Castro St are a 15-minute walk away, as is the Cal Train station. There is a gorgeous bike path right behind the apartments for avid cyclists and runners. The apartments themselves are full of families and the landscaping is well-thought out with beautiful plants and trees. We can't sing enough praises for our new home. We love it, and if you choose to live here, we think you will, too.

The Amenities are amazing with multiple tennis courts, pool, hot tub and bbq facilities. Booked a self-guided tour to look at studios and 1 bedrooms. Mae was really helpful, explained everything very clearly and helpfully marked out all available units on the map. Community is peaceful, green, and the piano is an added bonus!
