Wonderful yoga studio that I found for a weekend trip to Mountain View. The instructor Ruth was friendly and helpful when she signed me in. She explained all the poses carefully and suggested variations for folks who might need them.I loved that the studio is stocked with props available for students to use. The facility was very clean and the space had a warm energy that made me feel comfortable. After the class was over I felt refreshed. It was the perfect thing to do after a long day of flights from the east coast. I’ll definitely be back the next time I am in town. Thank you so much Ruth!

First time here and loved how the emphasis was on technique and getting the postures right. I’ve been practicing yoga for years, and most other places focus mainly on the cardio piece (flow, workout), and today’s practice at CYC was an eye opener on how yoga should feel like. I would love to come back.

Two of my friends recommended this yoga center to me. Couldn't have been happier that I gave it a try myself. Friendly community, excellent instructors, and pleasant facility. All the instructors I've met have been wonderful. Highly recommend!

I am a novice yoga learner. The California Yoga Center has a variety of classes and many different instructors. One thing about the version of yoga here is that it is based on Iyengar yoga which focuses on healing and not causing damage to your body. In a month and half of once a week classes, I already see good improvement. Classes are posted on their website and are available almost anytime.

I would not give Elise Browning Miller and her "Yoga for Scoliosis" businesses even a single star if YELP allowed it - I have learned she has multiple ventures promoting her popular book and supposed focused techniques for people like myself with debilitating scoliosis and/or complications with age related conditions and issues). Her other listed business is called "Yoga for Scoliosis" in Palo Alto and this review applies to that one also - I find it very curious that YELP does not have anything about that one, but will do what I can to start a new one! To be clear, I have not had the chance to actually try her services because she and her staff have completely ignored my repeated requests for help! This review is based on the RUDE unprofessional treatment I have experienced due to failure to respond to my MULTIPLE inquiries using both of her business website 'contact us' links and several direct e-mail addresses I have found for her. After over a month of repeated re-sends and even snail mailing a copy of the e-mails to her business address, I am following through with what I told I would do if she continued to ignore me as she has. Any business that treats potential new customers appealing to them for their help should know better than this, no matter how good their services and associated reviews might be! It is disgraceful and uncalled for and this alone is reason to get the word out to those people that care about the ethics and professionalism of businesses they support. This is especially significant and applicable to health services like this one! In the Bay Area and this day and age, there are MANY choices and one day Elise Browning might just come to realize this - SHAME ON YOU!

This is a fantastic studio for busy parents or people with injuries. The demographic of people who come to this studio are mostly middle aged (my mom went this studio a lot) so it reminds me of a mom and dad studio. It's very comfortably designed, very relaxing private place to practice. The instructors are extremely attentive to personal injuries and making you feel comfortable in class, which is the main strength of the people who teach here. They focus on Iyengar yoga which involves a ton of props and wall work. The beginner classes are perfect for people who have never stepped upon a yoga mat and a lot of personal instruction is given. The advanced classes go as for as headstands and more complex bends. Ultimately, I was looking for a younger more modern vibe so I'm still looking for a place to call my home yoga studio. I did enjoy my classes here though and would come back every now and then. Just one thing: I wish they put a stronger emphasis on flexibility but that's just my personal needs.

I'm an experienced Yogi and attended my first formal Iyengar class today. The teacher, Yoon Cho, was knowledge, friendly and definitely knows her stuff. I have neck and shoulder issues so I am always cautious when doing inversions, but the props and queueing were detailed and I felt quite safe. Yoon described the muscles to activate in every pose with great detail, making previously difficult poses much easier to achieve. I look forward to coming back for more.

I've been coming to CYC for almost 5 years, starting with beginner classes and VERY gradually growing into a more intermediate practice. These days Naomi's 2-3 on Sunday is my favorite. It requires a good foundation of Iyengar-style yoga, but it's incredibly fun and challenging. Naomi also has a tolerant personality and great sense of humor and really takes the time to understand and direct the class. I would encourage a new student to pay attention to the level markings on the schedule, because they're assigned thoughtfully. Fortunately the studio offers many introductory and mixed-level classes and will support you as you progress. I was weak and stiff at the beginning and can promise that if you go to class here and practice, you will improve and enjoy the benefits. Most of the teachers are awesome, but for someone new to Iyengar Yoga, I can particularly recommend Yoon on Sundays and Naomi and Ruchi during the week, as well as any of the many back care classes. The studio is well-known for their therapeutic approach and can modify for special needs in these contexts.

I am a yoga teacher. Elise Miller was my teacher for many years until scheduling issues created a need for me to take a weekend class at another Iyengar studio. I would highly recommend her for her knowledge and gentle style. Now I regularly go to workshops at the studio. They bring in excellent teachers for the workshops.

Great classes, each student gets personal attention, speed of class is just right. The teachers take care to show and describe every Asana in detail, watch took make sure everyone does it right, and give enough time to breathe in to each pose and in between poses.

Smaller classes with individualized attention. Knowledgeable instructors. Always super clean. Easy parking. This place is just right for me!
