Great selection, open to suggestions, very friendly staff, and extremely convenient for everyone around the area! The reviving of the deli section by the Creative Collective @ Ava's adds liveliness with home made food from around the world (so far lunch on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays), stay tuned for more

Great grocery store in downtown Mountain View! Lots of good quality organic foods. Quite a lot of imported foods too. I’ve discovered lots of new brands here! Definitely a significant percentage pricer than Whole Foods, but worth it for me since it’s walkable to this grocery store.

I adore this store. The staff are always so friendly. Everything you need in the store. Lots of amazing fresh affordable organic produce and other healthy organic items at a lower price than Whole Foods. Amazing local market, if you’re in the area I would recommend going to support.

Amazing to have a local grocery store like this within walking distance. We can do most of our everyday grocery shopping here. They also have great local artisan and international foods alongside all the essentials. And they were so nice to start carrying my favorite soy milk when I asked the owner :)

Good selection for a small store, including fresh food, beer and wine, snacks. Staff was very helpful. Convenient to have this downtown.

A bit expensive and strange location for a convenience store to be in Castro street but they have some interesting finds like raw milk and raw kefir.

This grocery store is very cozy. So many delightful niche options for cheese and pasta, a great selection of wines and milk (which is how I discovered this place, they stock A2 Milk!). They also have reasonably priced flowers, plants and succulents, what a bonus!

Really small market. Not much options. Nothing special. Went in and ended up just getting some poke at the poke store inside

I wish I could give half-stars -- consider this a 4.5-star review -- this is a great community market with a cozy atmosphere, kind and friendly staff, and a selection of product in stock that excels in categories like produce, cooking ingredients, and dairy (I love me some cheese!) but, depending on your needs, you may not be able to find what you're looking for in some cases. Supporting a local small business is well worth it, though. Excellent selection of drinks as well; not necessarily alcohol, but for those who enjoy beer or wine, I'm sure you'll be satisfied too.

Looking for an independent grocery store that's intelligently curated and features organic fare? Ava's downtown checks those boxes and then some. Their special events provide opportunities to sample foods such as pupusas (made fresh right before your eyes), novel California wines, and other delights. The family run store provides a place where you can find foods from a wide variety of cultures, and good conversation with the owners - all in one visit. Because they own and operate the store, all the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Best of all it's right on Castro street, the heart of Mountain View. You can't beat having an all purpose grocery store in close proximity to bookstores, clothing specialty stores, and just about every type of restaurant imaginable.

Such an awesome local market! They've got a lot of fresh produce, healthy foods, and stuff you may not be able to get at big-box stores. The staff are so kind and helpful as well!

Not only is Ava's incredibly convenient when you're in downtown Mountain View, there's a secret benefit that many don't realize: It's like a clandestine Trader Joe's right in our midsts! What do I mean?Well think about the fact that shopping at TJ's is so much more fun and easy than your average grocery store:1) There's always new products from around the world to tempt your tastebuds.2) You don't have to spend hours walking through a giant mega-store with 800 varieties of ketchup just to get your weekly shopping done. And Ava's is just the same:1) Sure, it's got all the name-brand stuff that you expect. But it's also got off-the-beaten-path delicacies in just about every category: The best tortilla chips you've ever had from a small-batch producer, paella mixes straight from Spain, and locally-baked bread (e.g., scallion loaves from Acme) that you'd normally have to go to a farmer's market to get.2) Because it's a small-format store, you can get in-and-out in under 20 minutes - no stress, no giant lines, just quality, interesting food fast! ⚡️So if you ever thought of Ava's as just another random grocery store in our midsts - think again. Just like Trader Joe's, Trader Juan's (AKA the owner) is a rare gem! ?
