Joe helped me with my engine rebuild on my 1970 VW autostick. With constant delays from the paint shop and then moving it to a new paint shop my beautiful rebuilt engine was waiting. Joe hand turned the engine until my newly painted car arrived. Joe was in constant contact with me with what it needed and recommendations. Then the day came and he started her up. It was music to my ears. Thank you Joe!

Joe the owner is a real VW expert and knows everything there is to know about air cooled engines. I took my 1979 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible to him after I tried and failed to diagnose an array of engine performance issues (lack of power, hesitation, bucking).I thought I knew a lot about my car and this engine, but Joe patiently explained what I had been doing wrong and what needed to be done. He was 100% right and he fixed the problem while charging a reasonable price. In addition to solving my main concerns, he pointed out about eight other problems and asked for approval to fix them, which I happily gave. At the end of the day he showed me the problematic parts he had replaced (pulley, belt, plug wires, etc) and went over all the work he did in detail. The beauty of All VW Shop is that he takes the time to teach you. Knowledge sharing is necessary as there are fewer and fewer people around who truly know how to work on air cooled VW's anymore. The more owners understand about how to fix these cars the better, and we should support a business like this who can help those of us out when we run into an issue or need advice.Thank you Joe for your patience. I will definitely bring my VW back to you and will recommend you to all other VW owners in the area.Services: Auto engine tuning

Went there for an oil change & check up… after overpaying for an oil change, they told me I also needed new brakes for my front tires for ~$700. I went somewhere else (holland car care, would recommend) because their price estimate was far better. After going there, I’ve been informed I 1. don’t need new brakes 2. need a new axel boot (which VW & Japanese Shop missed). Holland car care showed me pictures of both parts (brake pads being fine and axel boot being broken). Way worse is that during the VW & Japanese oil change, they didn’t screw in the screw all the way, meaning my car was leaking oil this whole time and, if the screw fell out, my engine would’ve been killed. not pleased with the VW & Japanese shop, go to Holland Car Care

I have become a lifelong customer of this shop. The owner John is amazing! I recently bought a 1970 vw bus and I am attempting to do the engine work myself. I am a novice but extremely motivated. When I met John he took the time to answer all of my questions and even used visuals to demonstrate what I needed to do. I felt completely respected in the conversation. He didn't talk down to me at all. He even called me later to ask how the work was going and gave me advice over the phone. With his help I learned how to adjust the valves and replace the fan belt. This place is a must if you have a air cooled VW. It is rare to be treated like this as a customer in today's Amazon controlled world.

Joe is an honest and knowledgeable vw mechanic, and he has a deep understanding of all things bug. He fixed up my 72 super beetle in a few days - clutch & transmission problems - and then refered me to a parts dealer he knew in hayward so that I could take care of a few remaining fixes on my own and save a bit of dough, which I really appreciated. He's upfront about required vs. optional work, and is thorough in his inspections. Would recommend to anyone with an air cooled vw.

My VW Golf is 15 years old and I needed major work (timing belt and water pump replacement, lower arm replacement). Joe did an excellent work with reasonable price within the estimated timeframe. I would recommend this shop and be back again for another repair if I need. Note that 1 year warranty came with it!

Joe is amazing. He took one look at my 1973 Karmann Ghia, and he was able to give me a very accurate estimate, and performed amazing work on New Year's Eve! Very honest. Highly recommended!

Had my engine rebuilt by Joe and could not have been happier with the quality of attention to detail and how well Joe knows his stuff! Moved here from the Midwest so it was very important to go to the best in the Bay Area and this is the spot!
