The food selection is similar to other 99 stores in the area. This review is in regard to how the staff treats customers. We are regular customers to the san jose and Cupertino locations. Lately we come to the mountain view location more frequently.Staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. I know people don’t usually expect friendly customer service here but there is still a minimum standard. At checkout, there is a Chinese lady scolded us for not bring a physical ID card to get the senior discount. Yes we have a photo of the ID and it has worked so many times before. But this lady treated us like criminals and yelled at us.At the deli station, we asked for paper towels to clean up the drippings from the package. Note: it is not the customer’s responsibility to clean up their counter but we offered to clean it up and asked for a paper towel. Again, get rolled eyes and the lady literally threw it out at us.For anyone who can wait to get their groceries, highly recommend online platform instead. Simply Google. Much better experience and lots of selections. If you have money, spend somewhere else.

I used to come to 99 Ranch on a weekly basis and was happy with my visits. Lately, I have noticed the store has deliberately left item price tags blank. We are not looking at 1 or 2 items but multiple items per aisle. This is not legal practice, based on the California law ( BPC §13300 ) requiring customer price displays. It was enacted in 2002 and became effective January 1, 2007. I hope they can correct this illegal practice before receiving a costly citation.

This is a wonderful place to find asian produce which you cannot find elsewhere, also usually cheaper than other markets. The fish and butcher counters are a good place for those. The fish monger will scale, clean and filet for free. Haven't tried their cooking options.Weekly ads offer big savings. Prices are typically lower for non-Asian items also, like Liquid Smoke.

Gave me the oldest food that really tasted off, but she had a great big smile serving me. The hot food section would be nice if it was fresh

Cashier Alma G. insisted I bag my groceries, implying it was my responsibility. Despite my willingness to help, she conveyed this with an unapproachable attitude. When I questioned the store's policy, she coldly denied assistance, stating that customers are responsible for bagging their groceries. In the presence of the store manager, I shared the incident. The manager defended Alma, citing she was retrieving a coupon as the reason for not helping, even though this was not the case. I clarified that Alma had stated she usually does not bag groceries for customers, but the manager persisted with the same excuse. It's crucial for the store manager to address this issue, as Alma's behavior reflects poorly on the supermarket's professionalism.
