I loved the place, it has a variety of snacks, drinks, including alcoholic ones, accessories, hygiene and cleaning products, as well as a pharmacy. Attractive price

This review is mainly for Rite Aid Mt Shasta's supposed pharmacy tech "training" program. All of the people who left one star reviews as customers, might be interested to know what actually goes on behind the scenes. I entered this program after being told by Joseph the pharmacist, that I would be trained extremely well. He assured me that I would be taught how to do everything from the ground up. I even turned down a scholarship to attend the pharmacy tech school of my choice because of how well he said I would be trained. He explained that Rite Aid's training program is free, and once you complete the online portion, you get a certificate and your pharmacy tech license. The difference between what I was told and what actually happened is laughable. Trainees at this pharmacy receive no actual "training" in any sense of the word. You are barely shown something one time, and then expected to do it perfectly and at lightning speed thereafter. If you make a mistake, or ask questions, you will be promptly yelled at by the pharmacist in front of the other employees. You are given a manual outlining Rite Aid's vision of proper training in their pharmacies, but that's apparently just a formality for the current pharmacist. Maybe they are just used to stabilize wobbly chairs or something. My very first day I was pushed into cashiering, and you know who showed me how to do that? You guessed it, a fellow trainee! The manual expects you to be trained at each work station repetitively for weeks at a time until you are proficient at each. The Mt Shasta Rite Aid pharmacy expects you to work as if you are already a certified tech from day one. And as for certification, how would you feel about having your prescription filled by a trainee who has no real idea what they are doing? How about having a trainee bill your insurance? Would you like to call the pharmacy and have a trained professional answer your medication questions? That might happen here, but you are just as likely to have a trainee fumbling their way through your patient profile trying desperately to accommodate. After all, they have probably been yelled at least once today already by the pharmacist or other staff. As someone who was in nursing school before, the blatant disregard for patient safety, respect, and privacy at this pharmacy is astounding. I was only told about contamination when I asked directly since I happened to see it in the manual. Turns out there are certain medications that can cause cross contamination when subsequent meds are counted on the same tray. Who knew? I sure didn't, and you would think that would be one of the first things you were taught. But then, they don't actually teach you anything at this pharmacy. The pharmacist and staff pharmacist constantly talk about the customers behind their backs. At the end of almost every interaction, they laugh and talk about how stupid they all are, and how they don't know anything about their medications. I was told by the staff pharmacist that all the people in this area are entitled, and dumb. I was told that the less information I gave them, the better. They are both extremely arrogant, rude and inappropriate. If you care for your family and yourself, you will not fill your prescriptions at this pharmacy.I was let go from the program after only six weeks with no real reason whatsoever. I guess I wasn't performing up to par with a certified tech. Oh, but wait, that's right, I wasn't a certified tech, I was a TRAINEE! The very definition, last time I checked, was that you are still learning, and shouldn't be expected to perform as if you had already finished the program. I was only 24% finished with the online portion, imagine how efficient I might have been had I been allowed to reach 100%. The work environment in this pharmacy is toxic. In the end I am glad I never became one of the kool-aid drinking zombies at this place.

I left the ER with a rx. I have covid, I was masked up and unaware that I couldn't enter the store. Instead of having compassion for a patient not feeling well at all, I was rudely told by and pharmacy tech that I am not allowed at the store at all. Then when I told her that all she had to do was nicely ask me to leave, she rudely said "thanks, have a good day". I'll never go there again.

Yet they fail to answer their phone!! This is my life they are messing with. I suggest using a different pharmacy as I willbe transferring

The pharmacy is consistent in it’s incompetence. Telephone holds of 40 minutes, filling the wrong prescription then refusing to take it back 5 minutes after leaving and realizing the error, and not refunding us. After waiting several hours for an Rx to be filled, calling to check it’s status and being told it was set back to the provider because refills are not authorized (this was an initial order, not a refill). I could go on. Switched to Mt Shasta Pharmacy- viva la difference!

Everyone is local and everyone is well-trained, helpful, and friendly. The pharmacy is a fluid, productive machine, and even in the busiest of times, they're open, cordial, and can answer any question you have.

Flabbergasted. I have a 12 year old diabetic dog who requires 3 units of insulin twice a day. I request a box of their smallest needles and they treated me like I was a tweaker. I’ve been using this pharmacy since I was a child. Rose and who ever the pharmacist is working today, you are both cruel. I went to CVS and not only did they sell me what I needed, but they also asked about my dog and treated me how customers should be treated. I’ve known the service here is abysmal for years, but I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully and cruelly. Thanks for punishing my poor old dog just because you felt like wielding your small amount of power over others. I already filled a complaint with your ethics department and tomorrow I’ll be calling your customer service lines. I’ll be calling whoever I need to make sure I remain a thorn in your side for as long as I can.

I asked the pharmacist for help in identifying genetic brands for meds I was prescribed. They kept sending me to other areas, only to then send me to look for the item myself. I could have gone to the meds section myself and looked for the generic brand myself. After all that run around, they didn't have the generic brand I needed, and have to go to CVS. At CVS, the lady at the counter helped me right away and got the generic brand I needed. That was it! Next time , I'm going straight to CVS first !

I have been a customer for well over a decade. When I spoke to the pharmaciest in regards to an as needed medication being that they have been filling automaticly every 2 weeks when it's AS NEEDED as it's never happened before. He would not listen to what I was trying to tell him. Asked for his name he accused me of being rude. Said he wouldn't help me if I continued to be rude. I told him asking his name wasn't rude. I asked for the pharmacy manager. Said he was the pharmacy manager. Told him I was driving down to see him. Arrived 20 minutes later (1:48 now) and he was gone. Worst customer service I have ever gotten. Now thinking about moving all my, and my family's, prescription needs to CVS or Walmart.

I am a long time customer of this store and have gotten my prescriptions there for decades. The store has always been sub par and over the last 5 to 10 years has taken a severe turn for the worse. The exterior and interior are filthy, they do not do anything about a vagrant who hangs out front every single day with parts of his body showing that should not be showing. They are chronically out of stock of important items that every other store in town is not having any trouble stocking. Now, I am learning that they will not honor their return policy as stated on their national website. A few weeks ago I bought a pair of very expensive reading glasses and I lost the receipt, the sales person neglected to ask me for my phone number, so I can understand them not wanting to give me a cash refund but a store card should have been fine since it's a Rite Aid product. They would not accept the return so I am left with a $25 pair of reading glasses that I can't use. Fine, I understand if I don't have a receipt that is my fault. Then a few days ago I bought some hair color for one of my children. I tried to return it today and was told that their policy is that they do not accept hair color as returns. I pulled up the national policy on my phone and attempted to show it to the store manager and she would not even look at it. I asked her to please print out the store policy as it pertains to hair color and she disappeared in the back and never returned. I will be taking this up with corporate and then the Better Business Bureau if they don't resolve it. I have been wanting for several years to switch all of my prescriptions over to a new pharmacy that has opened up in our town, and today I was given the gift of total clarity that it is time to do that.

After waiting 1 hour 25 min on hold I bummed a ride to the pharmacy and no one was in line? This happens every single time I call being I don't have a vehicle you'd think I'd be able to plan these trips...
