I had the weirdest experience at the visitor center. I stopped in to find out about the name of "Ney Springs" because I couldn't recall.Anyway, when I went in, the lady working was talking with a man... Maybe it was flirtatious. She was offering to show him around town. I browsed the brochures while they talked. Finally, she turned her attention towards me and said, "Hi, how are you today?"I turned and approached the counter, "I'm fine. I wondered if you could help me, I cannot remember the name of a waterfall I hiked to last year, I'd like to visit again..." And I gave her a brief description. Her face was blank, so I concluded, "maybe you have no idea what I'm talking about..." (Smiling!)Instead of answering me at all, she said, pertly, as if I'd interrupted them, "Well, I'm actually still helping this man... and you need to sign the guest book."Completely taken aback, because I'd taken her greeting to me to be an invitation to talk to her,I said, "why do I have to sign it?""Well, so we know how much staff we need!"She abruptly turns back to the man and they resume their private conversation.I slowly signed the guestbook... Looked at her again , hoping she might find it within her to consider my question. She didn't look at me. Slowly, I turned and very slowly I walked out. I kept thinking she'd say, "oh ma'am... About that waterfall...." But she didn't address another word too me.I was completely flummoxed. Still can't figure out what I did to offend this lady or why she couldn't quickly answer my question. Even if she didn't know the waterfall, she should have said so... Why should I stand around and wait while she flirts? Just to find out she doesn't know. It's still a mystery to me, if she knew where I meant or not!So I had to ask Google, which told me the name of the waterfall instantly. I wish I hadn't signed the guestbook and normally I want little places in little towns to stay open.... But in this case. Close it up. Useless. Can't even give a quick answer to a simple question.

Closed! We were there on Monday at 12:30pm. Doors locked, no lights inside, no sign indicating if they were out to lunch. Disappointing to drive there just to find they were closed.

Fantastic help planning our stay, finding plenty of great walks nearby and good things to do in town. So good that we ended up staying a lot longer in the town than we originally planned - Thank you!

October 2022 Closed on Sunday afternoon when we first arrived. Came back Monday 10AM - Open. The lady (Morgan??) was pleasant, most friendly and helpful. We found some bike routes that we otherwise would have known about. Lots of informational booklets, brochures, maps, etc.Definitely worth a look-see and will enhance your visit to the Mt Shasta area and North California region.

I have never used their travel services. I have been a vendor in the large July 4 festival for possibly 15 years.I always have been treated good through four managements. Sales have been stellar. I won't be returning because I am retiring from retail events sales.

This is the perfect place to start exploring the area. The free magazines and brochures are filled with helpful information. I couldn't leave without buying a postcard of the vortex.

Not much in the way of information or brochures. Getting info from the person at the desk was like pulling teeth.

I simply wanted directions to a very standard local attraction, the name of which I could not recall. It was a series of waterfalls with three or six well-developed parking lots. I waited until she was done with her previous customer and asked when Mt Shasta would be open. She must be lonely because she talked my ear off. She finally stopped talking long enough got me to ask about the waterfalls. I told her that I recalled driving to the south end of town and turning east. She kept asking obfuscating questions. Finally I opened a map. Looked south then east and found them myself. Fowler's. I clarified by asking if this is the place with three well developed parking lots. She said they're not developed. From my previous visit, I know that they are paved. Then she fretted because she had given one of these cheap paper $3 maps to the last guy and didn't ask for money. Not sure I'm pairing an accurate enough picture of her but she was weird and unhelpful. The center itself is a standard visitor's center with lots of commercial pamphlets. Middle aged woman working there was very gabby. Perhaps the same woman as a two star google rating I saw. As another person noted, google and Yelp are more helpful.

I understand that they are operating during a COVID pandemic, so all the more reason to be more active online. I got a notice that they were selling license plate frames out of the visitor's center, and I asked about purchasing some online. They have no online service. You would think in 2021, they would be able to take orders for visitor items online, especially during a pandemic.
