“I have been to many gyms in my life and have had 3 other personal trainers, and 9Round with Dave and Ovi is hands-down the best I have ever been to! I usually have a hard time motivating myself to go to the gym but I look forward to my 9Round workouts every week. When you enter, everyone greets you warmly. While you work out, trainers and other gym-goers cheer you on and motivate you. When you leave, you're congratulated on a great workout and walk out of the door with a smile on your face. It truly is a wonderful experience from start to finish. Be ready to work, though! 9Round provides a high intensity, full body workout. They also offer body mapping and consultation, which has helped me orient my workout and weight loss goals. Dave also provides me with tons of nutrition tips and challenges that have made a huge difference for me! I truly cannot say enough good things about this gym, so sign up already!”

“If you are one of the many of us, trying to get back into shape after Covid, Truve Fit should be your first stop. A key factor of whether you will stick with an exercise program is the having a frictionless environment.Truve has validated parking at the Hive so you do not have to be driving around in circles trying to figure out where you can park safely and get into the class on time. When you walk in through the front doors, the vibe is very chill so you do not feel anxious walking into class. Most importantly, the other people working in the gym are extremely supportive and will become your community quickly. Having all these things in place makes a fitness routine so much easier to establish. There are even free community classes if that's how you prefer to give this place a try.The instructors are excellent. Classes are capped at 10 for general fitness classes, and three for Pilates. As a result, their instructors can give you abundant corrections and attention so you avoid injuries and develop great form. If you are worried that you don't know how to use a Pilates Reformer, you can hire a private trainer for three classes to learn the ropes like I did.This is the premier gym in Oakland for rehabilitation from injuries. I am a 7 year cancer survivor who has had numerous surgeries. Each time, I've had to fight back to regain my health, strength and flexibility. My last surgery was major, set me back the farthest, and happened during the height of the pandemic; recovery felt close to impossible until I walked through these doors.Not only have I converted fat into muscle, lost weight, gotten so much stronger and gained so much range of motion over 5 months, but I can keep trying new things like TRX Bootcamp that turned out to be fun. Truve's got a wide range of things you can try to keep from being bored.Also, you can go buy fresh baked bread and pastries at Firebrand Artisan Bakery next store or empanadas at Javi's Empanadas caddy corner after you finish your workout. Truve's location is fabulous.”

“I go to the Pleasant Hill OTF from time to time if I have to work in that area on a particular day. I have to say PH OTF has some of the BEST coaches. Michael is an amazing coach!!! He is super focused on the members and encourages them to be their best while in his class. Thursday I took Vicki's class and it was a 12 minute bench mark challenge. She was very personable and walked around before class to see what our goals were. She encouraged the members to cheer on the cardio team during their benchmark challenge. Both Michael and Vicki are exceptional coaches. If you are considering joining the Pleasant Hill OTF I encourage you to. You will not be sorry. Go get'em ?”

“I love Orangetheory Fitness so much that I was beyond sad I couldn't go especially after moving up from SoCal to NoCal during the pandemic. Imagine my thrill to find out that my new house was just a few blocks away from the Shattuck Orangetheory Fitness. The staff are awesome, especially the manager, Van, who goes above and beyond for the members and crew. I love the coaches, especially Noah, as well as the front desk crew. Everyone takes time to learn our names and say hello and goodbye as we come and go. The location is great and the workouts are always amazing in true OTF fashion. “I found StudioFlex via Yelp and was thrilled that I did. I recently checked it out and had an assessment by one of the owners, Kyle Gee. The facility is fantastic - very clean, state of the art equipment and a good variety of it. There is a small parking lot that makes it very convenient and easy. Besides the awesome facility, I have to give a huge shout out to Kyle. His intake and assessment was really thorough - he asked a lot of excellent questions to ensure that he had all the information needed as a trainer, but also to ensure that my needs/goals would be met. Kyle inspired confidence and truly showed he cared about my health journey. You would be in great hands at StudioFlex should you check it out - which you should!”

“Love this gym! Sachiko and Jenny are great trainers.Sachiko’s past and present experiences have given her the amazing ability to personalize her training sessions to meet her clients needs. From senior citizens (me) with scoliosis to the young athletes. She is well organized and fun to work with. I credit my improved physical abilities to Sachiko and RGym. The Gym is kept very clean, the equipment is well serviced, there is ADA access and the ENTIRE staff is just great!”

“Here the thing, my ex-wife trains with Nick Fontaine, and Josilyn I hear they are great kids, im in oregon so i get photo and ill say this, the change is nothing short of incredible, my ex looks (i dont want to say beautiful) as pretty as the first day we met, so i started to do the 3 day introduction, and i didn't lose weight but i think I losed 3 or 4 inches around my waist, i cant believe it, those kids know what there doing.”

“This place is EVERYTHING. I started coming to Body Mechanix in Feb 2022 with the intention of shedding a few lbs before my wedding in August and became addicted. My goals have changed -- instead of just looking good, I go to BM to feel good, to challenge my mind and body and to build community. I am genuinely happier and more fulfilled since becoming a member.Body Mechanix offers group classes every morning and a 6pm and 7pm class in the evenings. You can also sign up for open gym during the day. The classes vary between trainers and conditioning and strength focuses but ALWAYS leave you feeling satisfied and challenged. The trainers provide variations and encourage you to challenge yourself. When I first started coming to Body Mechanix I had never lifted a bar bell, I now know the safe mechanics of lifting and performing other exercises.Body Mechanix is all about community, the trainers and the BM team plans events, outings, parties, challenges, and celebrations for the members. The trainers care about the members and their clients and the memebers are all so friendly! “I've been personal training with Fred for close to five years and it's been a great experience. Prior to joining Beyond Health I wasn't a fan of exercise or working out in general. I didn't enjoy the traditional gym environment and was looking for a more personalized experience to help me build a habit of working out more regularly. After working with Fred three times each week, I can see and feel the difference in my muscle development and overall health. He's extremely knowledgeable and caters the workouts to your needs without being a drill sergeant. You can go into each session without stressing about which workouts to do, which weights to use and no judgements; this makes it a much more relaxed environment. “I had decided to try out kick house after seeing they had a discounted plan on active & fit and have been going for about 4 months now. The coaches are all really good and have their own special way of teaching (Coach Jackie and Robbie are my favorite) but all of them are friendly, encouraging, and informative. When signing up manager Alexa was really good at introducing me to kickboxing for the first time. She also helped me figure out the best plan that suited my time and budget. The classmates are all very genuine and supportive. The staff maintain the studio very well by cleaning all equipment and floors after every class. From consistently going I have definitely noticed results and feel a lot stronger overall. Each class builds up to a tough but fun workout.”

“This place is a treasure. I'm not a gym girl typically but it feels like I'm in my happy place when I go there. It's always nice and clean, the staff are exceptionally friendly. They have a very well stocked gym, group fitness sessions, 1-1 training and my favorite - recovery (yoga) on Tuesdays and Thursdays to unwind. It's low-key, friendly, not at all competitive. It's a safe haven.”

He's excited to share what he's learned, and craves the discipline and challenge. At tournaments, I remind him that we're there to learn. “Clean, spacious, and very well-stocked gym with a wide selection of equipment (they even have Persian "meel" or "Indian clubs" which look like big bowling pins and are used to train strength and mobility; like ancient kettlebells). They make good use of their space and you can always find a spot to lift safely. I mainly powerlift and appreciate the full cage, half cage with safeties, and deadlift platform. The benches also have safeties, which is lovely for trying for a personal record without a spotter. Speaking of spotters, staff has always been friendly and helpful as well. They have actually spotted me before in the days before all of the benches had safety bars on them. That also brings up another point. They are constantly striving to improve the gym, whether it's new equipment or more efficient arrangement of the space. It feels safe and efficient (door has a code). The other patrons are also considerate, wiping down equipment, making sure weights get put away, etc. My only criticisms are that it can get a *bit* hot when it's hot out (though the fans do well to combat the heat generally), I wish the second treadmill didn't squeak as much as it does, and I wish they had a second elliptical, but other than those minor nitpicks, this is an excellent gym. While part of me wishes it would stay a hidden gym, I also know that they need more members to survive and thrive, so you should all buy memberships. Only show up a little bit though, haha.”

“After injuring my shoulder shoveling snow while in the mountains during snowpocalyose last winter, I knew it was time to get my body back in shape. Enter, Bliss Fitness and Health! From the first Rebel Recess class that I took, I have never felt more comfortable (except for the burpees!!) or more welcomed into a fitness space. The teachers are fantastic; the space is gorgeous; and most importantly after every class I feel euphoric, strong, and, dare I say, filled with bliss.”

“I LOVE everything about this workout and the gym! The owner is so passionate, as well as all the trainers (Spencer, Gerald, John, just to name a few)! You feel like you're getting a personal trainer with every workout! Everybody knows your name and they cheer you on when you think you can't move anymore! The 9 rounds takes about 30 mins and you don't have to schedule you're workout, you just show up during their open workout hours. Whether you're a beginner or not, you'll never feel out of place. If you're not sure about the workout, they have a trial so you can see if you like it. I highly encourage!”

“Can't say enough great things about Lamorinda CrossFit.I've been active my entire life but felt my workout routine was getting a bit boring. Two years ago, I found LCF. As a competitive individual, I like the format of LCF classes and the fact that each workout has a measurable outcome so I can track my progress. I enjoy having coaches who genuinely care about me and push me harder than I was used to pushing myself. I've found improvements come in many different forms and in ways you least expect. Working out with friends in a supportive community is just a bonus.For anyone living in the East Bay or visiting the area, I highly recommend checking out LCF. It's a special place!”

“Tried out a climb x bootcamp class and I loved it. Definitely a great workout. The parking lot is small and you must park in an unmarked spot. The climb room is very slim but it works. There's no lockers but cubbies. I would definitely go back to try the lagree class.”
