I stopped in today to get a ring on my kayak fixed. Little did I know those rings are riveted and a tool was needed that I didn't have. Luckily, Scott was here and he went out of his way to lend me the tools and the knowledge of how to replace rivets. With his help, I was able to get the ring fixed and back out kayaking again! Thank you Scott! You are an awesome individual and an asset to your company. Thank you so much for saving my kayak adventure to Oregon!

Monterey store is small but they can get anything West Marine sells. Staff is very helpful.

Called twice to see if they had my size boot in stock, each time I was placed on hold for 15 minuets before I ended up hanging up the phone. Unfortunately it's just easier to order things from other online retailers.The last time I drove down from Salinas, there were very few boot sizes in stock. So this time I decided to call and check first, I could have driven to the store and back in the amount of time I was on hold, at least then I could have seen what was in stock lol

Came here looking for some Xtratuf boots and Scott fixed me up with a deal there’s no way I could beat anywhere else. Scott was very kind and knowledgeable. Great store with a wide variety of gear!!

Scott is super helpful and very nice. We had gone in looking for a relief band charger which they unfortunately didn't have, but he went above and beyond for giving us advice and helping us prepare for our whale watching trip the next day.

This is a small shop compared to most and it is NOT close to the marinas, which is funny. West Marines in cities that are very boat friendly, like Port Townsend, WA, have just a single staff member in a place 4x larger. This location had 3 staff. It had what I needed, just wish I didn't have to walk 3 miles to get it.

Recently I purchase a small 1 foot section of product from a very nice saleswoman to see if it would work, and it did. I went back in and purchased 15 feet of the small product. This time I was helped by a man and was charged a dollar more than the first time. I didn't know this until I had compared my receipts. The first receipts had it described correctly. Second receipt had the product described total wrong.Upon returning to the store to try to work out a solution , I was met by a very defensive man . He said the product was 10 years old and the product code was no longer available. During the whole conversation with the man his coworker, lady, was saying they would make it right. He asked for the receipts at which time seeing receipts would no trace so there was no record of the transaction . I told the man that I would Hang on to them , as I don't want them stolen, my bad, should have disappear. The man then approached me with hostility, finger pointed at my face. At that point , I mistakenly pushed away some sale adds that were on the table. He then threatened to call the police and I asked him to. I left as requested however he followed me out and while taking a picture of my license plate told me to "run old man" .Turns out the police came, and I was told not to go back to that location. I would never go back there after this total bizarre experience.Bottom line , check you invoice before you leave the place of the purchase just to be sure that you are paying for and receiving the product.If I were grading myself , I would give myself a D, just because I lost my 71 year old cool. As far as the lady, she gets an A, always looking to make it right, as far as the man, he gets an F. His total defensive attitude, and his lost of his cool .All my other encounters with other West Marine stores have been rated as 5 star.Never had this happen before while working out a refund, replacement or arranging a store credit. Never.

The gentleman that helped us was extremely knowledgeable. He answered most of our questions. Some weren't too clear only because fish & game likes to change the rules way too often. Other than that, fast & efficient customer service.
