If you care about your pets please don't bring them here. I came to them with a sick Rooster and their malpractice ended up killing him in the most horrific traumatic way possible and traumatized myself and my child. No accountability, no compassion. She told me to sue her. Please avoid at all costs.

I just realized that I haven't reviewed this place yet. I wish that there were more options for exotic vets. I have 2 rabbits, so it really sucked to drive over an hour for a 5-10 minute appointment. The last time I went was over a year ago. This was way past covid time but you still couldn't bring your animal in. You had to call them and they come outside and get your animal. They did take care of your animal, but were pricey. They do the RHDV2 vaccine that rabbits are supposed to do. I tried De Anva Vet because they were closer, but they dont do the RHDV2. But now I go to Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz because they have better pricing.

They have been taking care of my guinea pigs for more than 3 years. My male guinea pig suffered a severe infection and heart murmur and the vet did a great job to reverse it. I also board my pigs there occasionally too.

Took my daughters rabbit in to have dental work done, they were quick about it and explained everything. The price was reasonable as well, will be using them for all my daughters bunnies needs

If you love your pets and have other options, bring your pet elsewhere! This place is horrible. I can definitively say at this point that my negative experience with this facility is not an isolated experience as they have been consistently terrible for many of my animals over many appointments. I've now brought in my bunnies, reptiles, and now rodents. Here are the biggest take-aways: -They are incredibly vague and indecisive--not once have they told me "here is the issue and here are the potential solutions," it's consistently "we don't really know, but it could be this...or maybe that...or even this," I get that they won't always have the answers, but at least try to appear like you know what you're talking about and not like you just googled 'common issues for pet reptiles'! -Zero empathy--I've never been told by anyone who works here that they understand that it's scary or that it's stressful when your animals are sick or need help. They have always treat you as if you are overreacting or care too much. They act bothered and annoyed if you ask ANY questions and refuse to elaborate on their vague statements. -They make it clear that their priority is profit--when I asked for further advice on how to apply a medication for one of my animals over the phone, the receptionist (Gabby) literally said "do you think this is a free medical advice hotline?" in the most rude and condescending tone. That comment alone is grounds to avoid this place like the plague! -Unprofessional--They routinely and openly trash talk other animal welfare organizations. During many different appointments, they have insulted or criticized many local animal organizations, including the SPCA of MC and bunny trail rabbit rescue in Carmel. -Uninformed--Oftentimes the staff are arguing and correcting each other over pretty important info. They seem to have no consensus on important topics of animal care there. I've had one vet suggest a particular vaccine and the other vet say my rabbit should not get that vaccine, despite them both having the exact same info on my bunnies. I'm sure some folks have had good experiences with specific animals having specific troubles, but in my experience, I've found their office to be borderline hostile, uninformed, unprofessional, and lacking basic compassion. Again, I've had many many appointments (I only return to them because there are literally NO other exotic vet clinics near by, but going forward I will bring my babies up the Bay Area for vet care), and not once have I had an experience where I felt confident in their skills or knowledge or even trusted them with my pet's safety. If you have other options, bring your pets elsewhere!

I take my rabbit here and my parents take all of their animals here. We love them so much. They truly care for your animals like their own! I've taken my rabbit other places and no one knows what they are talking about or have the same knowledge as this place!! Highly recommend!

Took my sick Rocky the Rooster here. He had degraded quickly, and my usual vet was completely booked. They handed me a very expensive diagnostic plan which I couldn't afford, considering al my other vet bills and that rocky is an older rooster who wasn't likely to survive. They offered to euthanize him, but my friend who runs a large livestock rescue had some solutions we could try, so I decided I wanted to give my rocky rooster a chance. We ended up euthanizing him, but at least it was at home where his body could be utilized. The ladies at the shelter were incredibly rude to me, and treated me like a villain. ONE DAY LATER ANIMAL CONTROL SHOWS UP AT MY HOUSE. To run a whole inspection. Of course everything is clean and perfect. Hopefully the neighbors don't judge us. My chickens are loose on 3 acres with an enclosed coop at night. Don't go to this vet unless you are rich and can afford treatment- or they will call animal control on you and treat you like crap your entire appointment.

We brought our chickens here to get some answers when they fell to a mysterious illness. The visit did not shed any light as to what happened. We ended up with a $3000 bill. We were naive to think they could have helped.

Far from where I live, but the great customer service, utter professionalism from the nurses during a pandemic, and overall great care! Took my girlfriends bunny to get spayed, process was quick and easy! Amazing prices compared to other exotic clinics, and great people as well.

If you have an exotic pet absolutely bring them here! They are guaranteed to receive the most amazing expert, conscientious, and compassionate loving care available! The staff in this office are all great and supportive and take care of your needs immediately! They have been caring for our two pet guinea pigs Tony soprano and Twinkie since we brought them home over a year ago. They provide the most thorough and careful medical care as well as giving detailed instruction regarding the care of your pets and are always available for any questions or follow up that's needed. In addition they also provide access to food resources for your pets and are just all-around great people to have in your corner! I feel that our pets are like family members to them and not just unnamed patients. They show their care and concern each time we bring them in whether it's for basic grooming or emergent medical care they're always there for us! Please don't hesitate to take your pet to this wonderful veterinary clinic and rest assured that your pet family members are in the best of hands! Thank you all at Avian & Exotic Clinic we appreciate you!

Never going here again, we took our rabbit in and they really didn't help us at all. It all started with the rude nurse who came out to "greet" us more like ignore us until she needed the pet. Emily was her name and she was rude, my animal is dying!!! You don't know how to be nice? Even a little bit. Just don't go here, it's happened to us way too many times. Don't be rude, I'm in customer service and never have been an ounce of rude especiallyyyy when someone's animal is dying.

I am so happy with my experience here. My bunny got neutered yesterday and they couldn't have been nicer. They updated me with pictures and sent me personal text on how he was doing. I was super nervous for him to be alone there but they made the experience so amazing. I will definitely come here for anything my animals need. I cannot be happier with this place. Also staff is all so sweet. I'm so In love with this place. Thank you!!

My husband brought our Canary Petey in because he was acting very sluggish and would not move off the bottom of the cage. The doctor checked him out and suggested a blood test to review if Petey was perhaps sick. The doctor came back after the test and said Petey was vocal and the test was ok. My husband brought Petey home and Petey passed away 2 nights later. I am furious that the doctor didn't do more and at a minimum keep Petey overnight for observation. We paid $60 for the Doctor visit and another $30 for the blood test. This is not about the $, this is about us Loving Petey and a Aviary Doctor that did not side on the side of caution and keep him overnight to make sure our Canary was ok. I cannot recommend Avian and Exotic Clinic of Monterey.
