Probably the most beautiful hotel I’ve stayed at. Everyone from the valet to food delivery staff was polite and welcoming and went out of their way to ensure I had a good stay. I had a corner room on the 2nd floor with unobstructed views of the bay and beach below. The perfect setting to eat breakfast every morning and a seat by the window to read before bed with the fireplace on. I could have honestly spent my entire stay in the window seat. Prime location with everything you need to see in Monterey in walking distance. Wine and cheese from 4-6pm and complimentary breakfast delivered to your room. My only bit of criticism was timing of breakfast delivery. It was 20 minutes later my first day and within the window the second day. I’d err on the side of ordering for delivery a little earlier than you’d like it. I’d absolutely stay here again and wish my stay had been longer.

My husband and i stayed at the Spindrift inn for our anniversary!
We usually stay at various hotels in Monterey for anniversaries or just to get away! The Spindrift Inn was always on our list! We stayed 2 nights!
The first night i went to the front desk to ask a question about the room service and to my surprise she was extremely rude and impolite i felt like i was disturbing her!
Next morning i explained what happened and really didnt get much of a reply almost like they weren't surprised! They didnt ask for a name or if i knew who was at the front desk that night! I would expect from a high rated hotel and with the price and fees you'd expect kindness and a more pleasant stay! I didnt even get an appology from the manager! Im sure the Spindrift Inn wants to maintain there reputaion and repeat guests! At this point im not sure if i would stay here again! Just very disappointed

Superb location, fantastic service, and a convenient and comprehensive breakfast selection delivered to your door.
Staff were friendly and accommodating, all seemed like happy people who enjoy their work.
We loved our stay and will be back someday :)

We can’t wait to return. It’s beautifully appointed with spectacular views…and the delivery of the complimentary breakfast to our room made all the difference. It has definitely become one of our favorite hotels.

I had a very unpleasant encounter recently with a front desk worker at the hotel. Despite our group conversing at a normal volume in the lobby, the worker addressed us rudely asking us to keep it down, as if we were drunk and disorderly (which couldn't be further from reality). We were again addressed rudely when he asked if we were hotel guests, which a member of our group was. After asking us to lower our voices, he claimed to receive a noise complaint just a few minutes later, but we noticed (via the mirror in the lobby) that he was on his cell phone during this alleged call. While we understand and respect the hotel's noise policy, the assumptions and rude attitude from the desk agent were unwarranted. We were unfairly treated, as if we were unruly teenagers instead of respectful adults simply chatting with a guest. This experience fell short of what one would expect from a 4-star hotel.

Location was beautiful and the room was lovely, which were big pluses. They offer complimentary in-room breakfast, which we would loved to have enjoyed but the breakfast didn’t come for an hour and we had to check out to get to our next location, so we unfortunately did not get to enjoy it. We filled out the form the night before as instructed for the scheduled time but it never arrived. We called 2 separate times to the front desk and were told that it will be there momentarily but the breakfast never arrived. Finally, an hour later we had to leave so we did not get to enjoy it. The front desk fielded both inquiries regarding the breakfast, but did not say anything when we checked out- it did not seem like anyone cared.
The valet was a similar delayed experience. If you are not on a schedule at all and can afford the time to wait in the hotel for 1+ hour for breakfast the amenities work for you. Similarly, if you are okay to wait for valet service for your car for 10+ minutes, then all good. I would not stay here if I was on a schedule.

Just love the hotel and the staff.
Rooms: Fireplace, ocean view, comfortable chairs and bed, just perfect.
Safety: Feel very safe walking around this area.
Walkability: Shopping and restaurants are close by. Easy walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Food & drinks: The LALLA Ocean Grill, is the best and right there.

Hotel is beautiful, historic, and possibly the most charming room I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. This is a place to bring a good book or a project and cozy up in front of the fireplace.
The only thing is we are traveling for an extended time and the laundry services are unavailable to us because of the long turnaround time (it’s Monday and we were advised we wouldn’t be able to get laundry returned before we check out Friday). I don’t know if this is usual but it is a smaller inn so fellow travelers—plan accordingly :)

Right on the beach with ocean view and a fireplace. Breakfast delivered to the room. Small inn but right on Cannery Row. Manager reception was limited.

The staff was amazingly kind, professional and customer care oriented. The room was immaculately clean and well cared for. The staff from the valet to the front desk clerks to the night auditor and maids were outstanding. Tina, the Hawaiian ancestry night auditor was engaging and truly caring of my needs and the needs of my USAF Veteran Service Dog, Cody's needs. I didn't want to leave for my medical appointment at the VA Medical Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. The Inn is in the heart of Cannery Row and a SUPER value.
Rooms: Amazing rooms
Nearby activities: Beach cove, shopping, restaurants, bars, Monterey Aquarium.
Safety: Super safe. The Monterey Police officer, Juan, assured me my vehicle and walking around the area was watched over.
Walkability: I am mobility challenged, walking with a cane. The Inn is in the heart of Cannery Row and down the block from the Monterey Aquarium.
Food & drinks: Continental Breakfast tray delivery into the room by catering staff. OUTSTANDING SERVICE.
Noteworthy details: Kindness of all staff!
