Great affordable place to stay for access to Monterey or Carmel for a weekend getaway. Rooms are clean, and the local jet mart up the hill has anything you need.

This is a beautiful and clean Navy Lodge in Monterey with very kind and helpful staff. Wonderful little sweets with kitchens, located within easy driving distance to Carmel and Santa Cruz as well.
Even though they were dealing with issues with their boiler, which affected getting hot water, their staff worked so hard that they were able to continually restore the hot water each time it went out. The service and the comfort of our stay was so good that the water issue didn’t even dampen our spirits. I would definitely stay here again!

Our two-week stay was just average. Although the hotel's location was great and the common areas were very clean, our room only received housekeeping services three times, and only after we specifically requested it. Unfortunately, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, leaving our backs sore. Given the hotel's 2-star rating, we didn't expect luxury, but we did expect a good night's sleep. Sadly, the beds fell short - you could even feel the metal frame through the mattress. Thankfully, our stay was short, but improving the bed quality would make a huge difference.

Place is fine as a Navy Lodge. The staff is super helpful and they keep everything clean. Don’t be afraid to stay here for PCS. It deserves the stars it gets!

Staff up front was pretty rude and the place is mismanaged. They told me I could reserve a family suite, then when I came back they said they gave it away.
Rooms are clean but can use a deep cleaning.
Housekeeping staff is fantastic and more customer friendly than the customer service desk.

I made reservations 5 months in advance for my PCS, and when I got to the counter I was told they didn’t have the room I reserved but then offered me a different room at a higher price rate.
After stating multiple times, that I would accept the different room for the rate that I paid for the original room ($64 difference), and that I would like to talk to a manager, they magically found the room type I reserved.
Then they proceeded to tell me that the hotel offered wifi, but then followed up with, “but it’s not working.” (So why even mention it!)
End of the day, I have a room, two beds, electricity and hot water. Could be worse.
Edit: I received a response from the hotel management expressing that they couldn’t alter the price of a room.
I think the hotel staff including management is still not understanding my frustration on the fact that I made a reservation 3 months prior to arriving, to then be told that they didn’t have a room for me when I arrived, but then offering a more expensive room.
My question is, where did my reservation go? I made the reservations 3 months prior to PCS’ing cross country.

No frills rooms, but comfortable. Small kitchenette was nice to keep some food around. Quiet area in the middle of Navy housing and some deer on the walk up to the mini-mart. Thought the breakfast had a good selection of foods with take-out snacks too. Not disappointed and the price was right. Only negative is staff was not always available at the front counter and no idea where they were. For me it provided a great central location to the golf courses I was playing on the Monterey Peninsula.

Great place to stay in Monterey. The only downside is that the elevator does not work. Good continental breakfast, which includes pastries, plain bagels, boiled eggs, oj, and apple juice. Fresh brewed coffee and fresh fruit. Rooms are deluxein size (Large studio with adequate closet space. There is a full refrigerator and microwave . Shower but no bathtub. A good value for location and accommodations.Nearby activities: Close to everything Monterey, including Pebble Beach and Cannery Row.Walkability: Good and safe to walk around the LaMesa Village
